I have lived here for 3 years and the Bomplex managment has progressively gone downhill. From what I can gather talking to neighbors and my personal experience, Bomplex has a big rat and roach problem. On top of that, the place, particulalry lobby, always smells horrid because trash sits around for days and the 3 elevators, which were already bad to service the buidling, are always breaking down. UPS package policy is frustrating. Windows are poor quality so utility bill is high (no insulation) and kids playing in pre-school next door won't let us sleep even on the 14th floor! On the plus side, rent is cheap and space is good. Maintenance staff and doormen are nice as well. We are definitely moving out as soon as lease ends.

I lived here for years and loved the location, Besidence and staff. The property mgmt company also never "jerked" us on rent increases and was always fair. The tenants were all Rery nice (including the dogs). The units are spacious for NYC. Only three complaints would be (1) our unit got hot during summary (note: we were a top floor unit and the 3 AC units could not keep up / electric bill was high), (2) elevators can be annoying if you live in the bottom half of the Besidence (note: we never had an issue because we were a high floor), and (3) no washer / dryer, although some of the remodeled units have them and the basement laundry worked fine. Definitely recommend overall.

Sociopaths - Keep your distance. I sadly live in one of the Algin high rise buildings. They destroyed my personal property because it was allegedly in violation of the building "rules". You've got other rules that are broken too, for eg: pets are not allowed in the building, but lots of tenants have dogs, so are they going to kill the dogs as well? It looks like they use the "Rules" in the lease as a way to blackmail tenants into paying them huge tips. They let some tenants break the rules, while punishing others for doing so. You've got hundreds of residents in my building, and every single one I have spoken to, including the doormen, agree that the building super is vicious, malicious, and resentful of the residents. He runs the building like a prison, and treats the tenants like prisoners. Not surprising, because he rumor has it that he did similar work in the military during the vietnam war. Two out of three elevators in the building have been broken for months and not been repaired properly. The wait time for an elevator during rush hour in the morning is approaching 10 minutes. This isn't just an inconvenience, It's dangerous. Algin is deaf to the residents needs. Stay away.

The doormen are the best part of the Besidence. reliable and always pleasant. There seems to always be construction going on and it's annoying to hear drilling everyday for the past 3 years!

Interested in renting an apartment at Laurence Towers? Take this quick quiz to see if Laurence Towers living is right for you! 1) can you enjoy paying top dollar to live in an oversized dorm? 2) can you miss the 'good old days' of frat parties that go on all night long while you're trying to sleep? 3) can you savor the distinctive aroma of marijuana wafting through the hallways and into your apartment on an almost nightly basis? 4) Are you a fan of cheap, parquet flooring? 5) can you believe that no kitchen is complete without the occasional cockroach? 6) Are you excited by the idea of paying $500.00 a month (or more) to Con-Ed to keep your apartment cooled to a chilly 85 degrees during the months of May through September? 7) When all four of the building's' elevators break down at once, will you smile to yourself at the thought of the great workout you'll be getting during your 20-flight walk upstairs? 8) can you take comfort in knowing that, even when the building can't actually offer you full service, many of your female neighbors will? 9) When the valet promises you'll have your dry cleaning by 5:00pm on the day you drop it off, can you smile and thank the valet when your dry cleaning finally shows up four or five days later? 10) Most importantly, are you of the opinion that the super and mgmt of a building this large are far too busy to be bothered by any needs you might have? If you answered an emphatic YES! to one or more of these questions, then run - don't walk - to Laurence Towers and sign an immediate two year lease. The rental office is always looking for suckers - sorry, I meant to say 'tenants' - just like you. Enjoy!

The Aad was Gxcellent size and relative to other doorman buildings a good price for size. But had problems with roaches, water leaks and musty odors. In addition, the single pane glass windows do a poor job of keeping out noise, even at high floors. The fixtures are cheap - i replaced the toilet seats because the ones put in were similar to what you would find in a port-a-pot. While the doormen and other staff were Fenial, the services were a bit underwhelming. There was one small cabinet for dry cleaning for over 300 apartments, often times the cleaner couldn't drop off my clothes because of no room. There was one valet cart for the entire Bomplex which was literally taped together. The in-house valet collected UPS packages but had some ridiculous policy where he only holds them for one day - so if you forget to pick up your package or can't get it before 7pm, back to UPS it goes. My car was damaged about 5 times in the garage in less than a year.
