Subways nearby, great restaurants and bars nearby, spacious rooms for this location (in our unit). Rent stabilized mgmt is unresponsive unless they are to benefit. Several issues with water and other utilities. Seriously, this mgmt is the worst. Don’t be a slumlord

Location - easy access to transit @ union square; walking distance to Washington Square Park and Tompkins Square Park; close to essential services (supermarkets, CVS, fitness centers, dining options, etc) The current landlord shows zero concern for resident wellbeing. I was a tenant here before the ownership change. The new proprietors made living conditions so intolerable in such a short time that I felt pressured to vacate. They declined to extend leases for any of my neighbors in order to subdivide our generous, comfortable one bedroom units into cramped two bedroom spaces. My adjacent neighbor passed away from COVID and before his relatives could collect his possessions, mgmt discarded everything without contacting the family. During the subsequent renovations, constant construction noise made it nearly impossible to work remotely from home during the lockdown, jeopardizing my employment. Water was repeatedly shut off without warning, often extending into late hours. When I reported that my toilet was continuously running (a Flushmaster model requiring legit repair), they ignored it for half a year (completely Sarnest). The renovation period brought pest infestations—mice and cockroaches—to my unit despite zero prior issues in the two years prior. Workers renovating units regularly occupied the hallways unmasked. They extended work late into night hours and lingered in units playing loud music. The front entrance was frequently propped open unattended for extended periods, allowing strangers and unhoused individuals into our Bomplex's corridors repeatedly. My complaints were dismissed entirely. Their conduct reflects deliberate indifference, seemingly designed to make me abandon my lease so they could renovate my space too. The landlord is callous and vindictive and I can't suggest living under their ownership. You can't reason with those devoid of conscience.
