Unit 2E Pros: Super is okay. Garbage is taken out regularly. Insulation between the buildings is relatively good and neighbors are mostly quiet and respectful. Cons: Update: currently taking them to small claims court bc they changed my locks halfway through my last month, then fully ghosted me and have not paid my security deposit. Landlords are slumlords. Entryway and backyard are gross, building in general is grungy. Some neighbors can be loud late at night. When I moved in, the apartment was not really cleaned and didn't have a fire alarm. Buzzer has been broken the whole time and the front door lock is sometimes broken. No hot water sometimes during peak shower times.

Unit 4B Pros: My unit had large rooms. The heat works too well, had to open windows in winter. Neighbors are friendly. Cons: Very poorly managed trash. Had mice and cockroaches, though that’s mostly resolved now - need to keep up on exterminations. Lots of hot water problems and leaks from the roof. Advice to landlord: Fully fix things rather than bandaid them!

Pros: The other tenants for the most part and the building super. Cons: The building super has no authority to make any real repairs or fixes and the building owner seemingly authorizes none. The building is infested with mice and roaches that are not managed in any way. The heat in my unit was inadequate during the winter months. So much so that the temperature in my unit was below what was legally allowed. Even after documenting and reporting this to the building owner and management nothing was done. In addition to the heat being inadequate the windows were also old and drafty contributing even more to the illegal temp conditions in the winter. Advice to landlord: Try actually caring about your tenants and the quality of the units you are being paid to provide.

Pros: Not many pests, updated appliances and cabinets, neighbors are nice Cons: Management is pretty unresponsive except to harass you about rent you’ve already paid. Super is nice but flaky, and also won’t control his dogs’ insane barking you can hear on multiple floors. Lots of mail problems. Advice to landlord: Post notices when the hot water is going to be off for two days. Keep the building cleaner. Don’t harass tenants for rent they’ve already paid when you’ve actually screwed up the bookkeeping.

Pros: Building management is responsive to all tickets submitted. Neighbors/tenants are friendly and will bring your packages to your door for you. Cons: Building management may be responsive but never execute on things to be fixed. I’ve lived in this building for a year and was told the buzzer was going to be fixed before I moved in. When the guy to fix the buzzer does come, I get notified minutes before his arrival which doesn’t work in an environment when everyone works from home. I also didn’t get a mailbox key until like 4 months into living there. Water gets shut down randomly without notice. Appliances are left in hallways. Management “cleans” building once a week. Advice to landlord: Scheduling appointments to fix things would be great. Not whenever convenient. Deep cleaning is necessary and was necessary during the peak of the pandemic but none was done.
