Pros: Nelson, the super, is incredibly responsive and nice. The location just off of an A stop and close to the G is great. Generally great amenities (reasonably priced laundry machines, usually more than enough for the entire building, perfectly well-stocked workout room). My apartment had a good amount of space, and a great kitchen as far as NYC apartments go. Cons: Some issues with the basement level of my duplex apartment. Had a minor flooding issue once, but that was during historically bad flooding across the city in a major storm. Some issues with the heat in the basement level as well.

Pros: Very responsive super. Great appliances, and when we had an issue with our built-in window AC it was fixed promptly. Super reasonable rent. Cons: The heating in our basement level is not really functional.

Pros: Some of the pros are that the building is nice, the majority of the neighbors are respectful and kind and the Building Super can be kind and helpful at times. Cons: The most problematic issue with the building is, there are tenants who have set the building on fire several times, possibly on purpose for insurance claim now (s). They have opened two restaurants in the building, and one of them is extremely loud and disruptive. Every single night there is karaoke, or a DJ, or just loud blasting music, even when no one is in the restaurant. The owner has been superficially responsive, but eventually just stops responding regarding the noise complaint. And in the meantime, as tenants, we just continue to suffer. I also specifically asked about the noise level for renting this apartment, Advice to landlord: Don’t have restaurants/bars/clubs in a residence you advertise as quiet and family friendly. If people have literally had to move because of them, maybe don’t keep renting spaces to them when they’re chasing out other tenants. The money couldn’t be that good, I’m sure there’s another store front that could be in that space.

Pros: Super is great. Building is full of quirky spaces, including many shared outdoor areas. Cons: Management and Landlord are terrible communicators. Tenants aren't advised when things like fires, gas leaks, bed bugs, and robberies happen, which can become very dangerous. Shared door code means many non-residents come into the building, and there have been instances of random people sleeping in the lobby. Commercial spaces below have become increasingly loud and disruptive as well- music, hookah smoking, etc. Advice to landlord: Communicate with the residents- send emails when situations occur to keep tenants informed and able to protect themselves as necessary.
