I came here as a visitor in December 2019 hoping to leave with a positive outcome. Unfortunately, that was not the case with me. I was viewed as if I was a "gangbanger" by certain people who live in that complex (even though I'm NOTHING like that). I don't like that I get to spend more time talking to a security guard (who happened to be pursuing me) than an existing Jamie Towers resident (shareholder). The time I got to spend at Jamie Towers was made mostly unpleasant and after taking me so long to finally visit the grounds (30 years), I left the property DISGUSTED!!

I have lived here since 1994. I have had 3 apartments in this complex...transferring as my family grew. My parents live here and my sister has an apartment, also. It has greatly improved through the years. We have new lobbies, close circuit cameras in the buildings and the outside areas, new washing machines and dryers in the laundry room, security guard at the front door where non-residents must sign in, and the pool is again open and beautiful. Unfortunately, the equity was increased dramatically in recent years but it was necessary to keep up with rising costs. My 3 bedroom apartment cost $7000 is now $20000 but that is still a bargain in NYC. The only thing about the area is that it is not close to the trains and the projects are across the street. Other than that, the neighborhood continues to blossom. I love the Bronx.

I used to live at 630 Pugsley Avenue from 1967-1973. The apartment was brand new and beautiful The cost for a 2 bedroom apartment was 272.00. I loved the location, the terrace, the pool. I lived there with my husband, 2 kids and my dog until 1973. We packed up and moved to Long Island into an 8 room house(now 10 rooms), and never looked back. I made a lot of friends while living there, but I gave up city life to be a suburban mom. Living on Long Island for 39 years, and loving it!

A few years ago, I added Jamie Towers (JT) to this listing and wrote the 1st review for Jamie Towers. For some reason it no longer appears, however I've been stopping in on this site now and then. JT is a very, very comfortable place to live. Yes, the projects are nearby (this is the Bronx, there are pj's all around) - yes, the pool has been inoperable for years, (did you see the begninng of construction?) As long as people walk their dogs and comply with the pooper scooper law - no problem. Yes, you have to walk about 2-3 blocks to a store, but would you want to have a 24/7 bodega right downstairs with riff-raff of all around standing all around??? Nope, not me!! Managament tries it's best to accomodate with updates about the happenings, but there are those that are just complainers ... about everything.... and they will never be happy. We have raised our children here and for the most part this coop has very much been a positive influence on the kids raised here. There's been a lot of changes for the better here at JT and I think those that are unhappy better look at the economy and compare what's out there and re-think a thing or two about what to expect out there. Well, I'll be back to check out more comments, but 'till then, JT Keep Your Head UP!

My family moved in Jamie in 1979 and my mother still lives there. I come by every week, and I miss living there. After living in many places in NY from Brooklyn to Mt. Vernon, for the price and the ammenities, you can't beat Jamie. Every good neighborhood or community is 2 blocks away from a bad one, here in NY. But Jamie has tried it best to keep up its standard of lving for the tenants. The tenants are friendly and pleasant. Too many dogs for my taste. And the mice and roaches has definatley gotten under control. My mother hasn't seen a roach in over four years and hasn't seen a mouse in about two years. Love you Jamie, sending of my application to move in again, real soon!

As with all apartment buildings in the city, Jaime Towers has it's advantages and it's drawbacks. All things considered, it's a great place to live. It's affordable (check out Manhattan rents and you'll understand why). Maintenance services are readily available on the premises and maintenance workers are polite and professional. Guards are on watch pretty much the whole day. All apartments have terraces. Shopping areas are nearby. Grounds and interiors are maintained regularly. The majority of residents are respectable, polite professionals. A one bedroom apartment is nice and roomy (no Manhattan sized, overpriced closets here). Laundry facilities are on the premises. Community rooms can be rented for personal reasons (i.e. birthday parties). The new and improved YMCA is nearby. The projects are across the street and a few of those residents may migrate over from time to time. That can't be helped. They can migrate over to the Upper East Side too. You need to endure 2 forms of transportation to get there unless you're just a bus-ride away. In a complex of 4 buildings, I can only recommend one (building #1). There seem to be more problems in buildings #2 - #4. In building #1, the management office is right there. The first stop for the #36 bus is on the same street and takes you right to the Parkchester 6 train station. The #22 bus is a block away taking commuters to the Castle Hill 6 train station. Washing machines and dryers in the laundry may breakdown from time to time but that happens. The company in charge of the machines refund lost money on a timely basis. Overall, the conveniences far outweigh the disadvantages.

I HAVE LIVED@ JAMIE TOWERS GOING ON 8 YEARS, I SEE LOTS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE AREA, BUT YOU KNOW THE SAYING YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, I PERSONNALY THINK ITS A NICE AREA CONSIDERING , YES THE PROJECTS ARE NEAR BY BUT IN THE 8 YEARS OF LIVING IN THE AREA NEVER HAD A PROBLEM, THE COMPLEX IS BASED ON YOUR INCOME SO COMPARED TO THE PRICES OUT THERE FOR RENTALS THE COST IS EXCELLENT , $800 FOR 2 BED GAS AND ELEC INCLUDED HOW'S DOES THAT SOUND AND AGAIN THE AREA IS FINE.THOSE THAT ARE COMPLINING SHOULD MOVE.
