“since the take over of the apartments by new management there have been several unreasonable changes. the first change is to the laundry room where they have no put hours of operation whereas with previous management the laundry room was accessible 24 hours because of the tenants in the complex who work late or overnight. Second is a harassment by management. I witnessed a tenant who was apparently behind 2k in rent whereas i had a small balance and was threatened to be evicted if payment was not made. the new management is very rude and very unprofessional. They do not treat the black tenants as fair as the other minority tenants. There is music being blasted at 4:30am by tenants and their guests who pull into the gates and park in the parking lots. They also gave no notice of construction or tree work to be done in the early hours of the morning when tenants are still sleeping. They have been doing work the week of 02/14- current starting as early as 6:45am and lasting until 7-8pm in the evening. They do not want to repair any of the things that have been reported to be fixed such as my roof, or in my bathroom, or the mold growing around my air conditioner vent inside my apartment. They have not done any pest control inside the apartments and now i have roaches and rats due to holes that were previously left uncovered.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“HORRIBLE staff. DO NOT LET THE STAFF MESS WITH YOU. THEY WILL. AC went out 3 TIMES in 10 months(summertime In Houston). We would call and they wouldn't even put a work order in half the time. One time the AC went out and it took them 3 days to get a work order put in..nobody seemed interested. This was Tuesday....Fridays comes around and I call to see if they are coming to give us a replacement AC or come and fix it because it's 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE!!! MUY CALIENTE!!! and they tell me "we will try our best to get someone out there, but we aren't 100% sure they will make it before 5 and they will be gone all weekend"......ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?! ITS 100+ DEGREES EVERYDAY AND WE PAY ALOT OF MONEY FOR THIS. The heat can be dangerous and they did not care AT ALL. Then I told them I was going to get ahold of the co signer( who is mid 40's, teacher for 25 years, respect) and they got scared and immediately said "Sorry about that, someone should be there in 25 mins" and they fixed it just like that DO NOT MOVE HERE... But if you do, don't let the Staff mess with you. Stay on them , keep calling , go in person to get them off there computer and actually us. PS: Gate Key is $50.......but the gate always breaks because the Alora is no bueno, so the code is 4567 GATE CODE 4567 GATE CODE 4567 GATE CODE 4567 GATE CODE 4567 GATE CODE 4567 GATE CODE 4567 Save your money. The Alora < *Ive seen staff smoke cigarettes IN THE MAIN OFFICE!!! UNPROFESSIONAL. No Bueno mhmm can you guys understand that????!!! Can you understand English now?????”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“When I moved to Houston a little over a year ago and I was looking for an apartment that was within my price range and a location near my job. This place offered me a great special to move in and the staff was nice. The management office is always available even the manager. Overall my experience was good and was sad that I had to move due to my relocation of job. I do recommend it to anyone who is looking to move in this area and affordable pricing.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“by far these was the worst apartment i have had experienced please think twice before moving to this apartment there are mice, roach and rat the apartment is very old and dirty those positive reviews are not from tenants may be from the office it self so you have to make sure before you decided to move there”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“The rodent and roach problem is terrible when we first moved here we didn't see any until a few months later now they're EVERYWHERE literally.Pest control came out more than a few times but it's never any difference. And we just started seeing mice a couple months ago and they won't go away i caught a couple but they just keep coming but i wouldn't recommend nobody to move here.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“if you can live anywhere else do it.. that place was horrible loud mouse and roach infested & maintenance doesn't do there job ;jh;dsh;dhlo'isdh'sdoihd'soihv'dshv&apo”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“It's disgusting. I've had a slew of problems, (seek google to see other incidents) woke up today after trying to sleep through the all night rager. On my way out it looks like a frat party happened. In front of my house alone I picked up more than 10 cans of beer, a baggy which most definitely contained cocaine, and tons of garbage. That's just in front of my home. I wouldn't have cleaned it, however the apartment management has a way of trying to kick people out and due to this amount of garbage being in front apartments. I picked it up thourogly taking pictures to add to my stack of other incidents. Tried calling the apartment staff 10 times about the situation to no avail. (Luckily my boss is kind enough to let me use her lawyers if need be) I've lived everywhere in this city, and this apartment by far is the worse. I've had problems with bed bugs (as has the entire block, taken thousands of pictures of discarded furniture), even had a gaping ceiling hole in my bathroom which took 3 months to fix. It's insane the amount of negligence that happens here. Extremely glad that my lease ends in a few weeks. I say stay away, I promise there are far better communities. No one should have to live this way.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“I lived here for over 2 years and I'm very happy here the neighbors are friendly and what I like about the place is that we got easy access to fwy 59 & fwy 610 the staff in the office is very friendly and the maintenace crew is good at taking care of things the pool and the grounds are keept clean by the poters and I can do my laundry in one many laundry rooms. So if you are looking for a good place to live I recomend you to come and check the apartments out!”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“I'll try to keep it short and sweet with a simple pro and cons concept. Let's begin with the pros 1. Great Location- for somebody like myself making btw 35-45k a yr I can't go wrong living here. Everything social gathering related is literally 5 miles away either on westimer or Richmond. To the galleria, prospect park, diablos, strip club, everything. Even the groceries store like heb, kroger's, and walmart are super close. Unfortunately the pros stop there and now the cons. 1. Odor- I can only speak my for apt but every time I come back from anywhere that same apt smell would just hit me at the door. Literally tried every air freshener known to man and that damn smell still would go away. 2. Unwanted pets- Yes it's true, THESE APTS HAVE ROACHES,RATS, and my personal favorite BED BUGS. We I first moved in the roaches were endless. But if you call the exterminator they will eventually seize. The rats were random, only killed 4 my entire stay but that's 4 too many. The biggest problem you will have is the beg bugs, they never go away. Your gonna have to wash your sheets no less than every 2 wks. Literally had a female over and same this " I can't get comfortable feels like something biting me" smh 3. Parking- Your guest or better yet maybe even you will get towed at least once. These managers are so inconsistent with rules it's ridiculous. First you can't park near leasing office, then it's not on the, next it's only in the back. Best bet is to buy two parking passes just in case. 4. Management- If you signed your lease in Feb and by July there's a whole new staff; that's a clear example of much these idiots love their job. Overall if you're just starting off like I was it's best to stick it out and save you some money so can live "comfortably" elsewhere, but if you're in dere need of a home and can handle these conditions then the best of luck to you.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“The Alora Apartments is a horrible place to live for anyone who wants a descent place to stay. Since the first day I moved into the apartments I regretted living there because the apartment had a bad odor plus the water is not clean. Every time I turned on the water from the faucets or the bathtub it came out a muddy brown color and I had to let the water run for about 5 minutes before I even took a shower. This was absolutely disgusting and not sanitary to live in. I found dead rats or random rats running around the apartment on numerous occasions. The maintenance is horrible and my roommate and I went without AC, in the summer, the first week we stayed in the apartment. To my surprise, I found out after our 1st utility bill, that ALORA charges the whole building one bill and spilt it up equally with the tenants. This is unheard of in any descent apartment complex because why should someone pick up the slack of other people light/gas bills. Also, to top things off the ladies in the front office charged my apartment unit over $800.00 after I moved out. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND I WILL NEVER ALLOW MYSELF TO LIVE IN SUCH LOW QUALITY/STANDARDS AGAIN IN LIFE.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“Leasing staff is amazing, they always do their best to assist in anyway possible.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“I want to take this opportunity before the end of the first month of 2017 to reflect back on 2016. I am on my 3rd year at The Alora Apartment Homes. I want to thank the staff and the manager Maria for the excellent service. I had medical incidents (stroke) and they have nothing but good wishes and support for speedy recovery. I appreciate The Alora because first its an apartment home secondly well maintained on a daily basis. Residents here have different demographics. The amenities start as soon you walk in the office and you have great smiles at all times plus you can enjoy a cup of coffee while you are in the office. When you become a resident you have access to the fitness center, business center, pool area plus a playground for children to play. For me as an older resident that has several doctors appointments its extremely close to all my doctor visits. I would like to encourage everyone to come see your new home. Come meet Maria and her staff. Thank you Alora and I will give you good wishes and lots of blessings.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“Bed bugs, mousses and everything complex be careful with this place the way is cheap it's the same way that it is bad bad bab guy if you don't believe it try you will see....????????????????????????”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“My whole experience at the alora apartment went very good. The staff was welcoming & my leasing agent was Rebecca she was extremely helpful. I will definitely recommend this apartment complex to family & friends.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“If there was a negative star, this places deserves it. It is literally the worst place ever. The maintenance of the property is terrible. It takes forever for them to fix anything. You see rats all the time and they cant find a solution, the toilets are clogged with each use (permanently clogged), had leaking roof. All these could have been made better but I've never met people so rude at the front desk, real RUDE and no courtesy at all. They never try to help or anything and just try to prove their innocence from nothing. If I can afford a good lawyer I'll sue them. I have to move out before the lease expires, It's that terrible. DO NOT TRY THIS PLACE. I'm serious. Not worth it. Probably the worst decision of my life.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“My experience being here is horrible. I've had 15 RATS over my 3 year stay along with roaches. Staff are always changing because they can't provide a safe place to stay. The most recent thing that happened to me is over a 3months course it has been a crack/ dip in my ceiling that grew into a big hole. I have been waiting 3 months for this to be complete. It smells like mold in my apartment and they want my PREGNANT wife to stay in the next room while it takes them forever to fix this situation. When maintainence send you an email saying its fixed , dont believe them because I was in my bedroom sleep only to wake up with dirty water pouring all over me from the ceiling. My insurance couldnt cover my water damages to all of my stuff including my bed, dresser, and all of my items because it was caused by bad maintainance and not by natural causes. THE ALORA WONT REINBURSE me for my hotel stays and still recuires me to PAY RENT! They act like they can just violate my rights and get away with it and THEY WONT LET ME OUT OF MY LEASE. RATS, ROACHES, MOLD, CEILINGS LEAKS, BREAKINS is what you should expect, and the property mangager do not care for their tenants. I'm not saying you shouldn't move here, just telling you what can happen to you and I feel horrible to the point where I want to cry because all of my stuff is gone and there is no one there to help me.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“I've been living here for almost 8 months and love my apartment, the neighbors are very friendly, I got no problem getting parking, and when ever I have a maintenance request it's been taken care of maybe not right at the moment but I do understand that this is a big property and I'm not the only one here. The office staff is very professional they would informed me if maintenance would or wouldn't be able to go. My ac went out because of the age of the unit and how hot it was but it got replaced with a brand new unit, so my hat off to the hard work of the maintenance crew, and the office staff. When ever you walk in that office you can feel the love you get smiles from all the Alora girls, and I look forward every sunday to take my 2 kids to the pool. I'm very happy here!!!”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“This is the WORST apartment complex I have EVER lived in. I would give it negative stars if I could. It seems like such a great deal, super cheap apartments but at what cost? The cost of your AC going out a thousand times, poor management, poor maintenance, theft, roaches, ect. One of my first problems were roaches, and when I asked for pest control I specifically told them in just the kitchen. I had my cat locked up on my room and when I came home from work my cat was running around, they had been in my room and sprayed in there too which could have endangered my cat, and I had stuff missing from my room. I filed a complaint and nothing was done about it. Then my AC kept going out and this is during the hottest heatwave the south has seen in a long time. The first time they came to fix it, they busted freon EVERYWHERE and they told me to leave the apartment because its toxic. They again endangered my cat. After they busted the freon I had to have them come back and fix my AC unit a total of 6 times!!! At one time it was 85+ degrees in my apartment for over 2 weeks making it absolutely unbearable to live like that. When I complained they just kept saying it would get taken care of and I kept receiving emails saying my work order was completed, when obviously it was still scorching hot in my apartment. So when I complained again they sent someone with a window unit?!? What is a window unit going to do for me in this Texas heat? And every time maintenance would come into my apartment they would move stuff around, take stuff, let my cat out of my room, and leave their trash behind. Every time I filed a complaint it went unnoticed. Once my electricity went out and they didn't get it fixed for 5 days! I go to school online and I work 3 jobs to afford the apartment and everything I have in it and they made it unbearable to live and enjoy the apartment I spend all my hard earned money on. I had my bench stolen from my second floor patio and when I wanted to file a complaint since they supposedly put cameras all over the apartment they told me it was MY FAULT for leaving stuff sitting outside my apartment. ITS A BENCH, THATS WHAT IT'S FOR! and I shouldn't have to constantly worry about my property being stolen, especially after someone had tried to rip BOTH plates off of my car. The office manager told me that she wouldn't look through the cameras unless I filed a police report but I'm not going to file a police report over a bench when they clearly can handle it without getting the police involved. When I told them I didn't want maintenance in my apartment without me being present they told me that they wouldn't submit any of my work orders because they can't just send their maintenance whenever it's convenient for me, but when I told them that I refuse to have my stuff stolen and tampered with they told me that they only saw one complaint on my file. Because OBVIOUSLY they did not file any other complaint that I had submitted. And they told me that nobody else has complained, as if that statement was meant to disregard my complaint. It's not my fault other people don't care about their property as much as I do. When I complained about being out of AC for 2 weeks they just say "We understand, we're with you and we're trying to get it fixed." No you're NOT with me because it's 65 degrees in the office while I'm sitting in a pool of my own sweat in my apartment. There is crime happening all the time and all they do is send out notices telling us to be more careful at night. It's hard to be careful when none of the porch lights work for the buildings around you which make it easier for someone to attack you at night. I I would never ever ever recommend this apartment complex to anyone unless they really don't care about their own well being. Everyone in the office may seem professional, but it's all a facade because they really have no idea how to run an apartment complex and how to take care of their tenants. I've lived in 5 different apartment complexes since I've been in Houston and this one is by far the WORST.”
“KEEP TRACK AND RECORD EVERY TRANSACTION MADE WITH THESE APARTMENTS. THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND DISORGANIZED. i HAVE FILED A CLASS A LAWSUIT ON THIS COMPANY FOR THE NEGLIGENCE OF TRUST OF THEIR RESIDENCE. i WAS SUCH A GREAT RESIDENCE AND NEVER LATE OR CAUSED ISSUES WITH THEM AND STILL SCAMMED ME. tHEY KEPT MY DEPOSIT AFTER I CLEANED THE APARTMENTS. I RETURNED THE KEYS ON TIME AND THE LADY I GAVE THEM TO DID NOT GIVE THE KEYS TO THE MANAGER UNTIL THE 5TH. THEREFORE CHARGING ME LATE FEES. i HAVE THAT IN RECORDING... THANK GOD. i HAVE EVERYTHING IN RECORDING FROM THE DAY I MOVED IN TO THE DAY I MOVED OUT. i HAVE COPIES OF ALL THE MONEY ORDERS I HAVE RETURNED. i ALSO HAVE VIDEOS OF ME PLACING THE LAST CHECK IN THE SLOT IN THEIR OFFICE. THESE APARTMENTS WILL LOSE THE CASE ON HOW MUCH EVIDENCE I HAVE. THEY ARE RIDICULOUS. i WONT SHOW THEM ANY VIDEOS. i JUST WANT TO WASTE THEIR TIME WITH COURT AND TO SHOW THEM HOW DUMB THEIR STAFF IS IN COURT. HAHAHAHA!! ROACHES EVERYWHERE. LEAKS FROM THE CEILING, RATS, TRASH, DRUGS, EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE. NIGHTMARE. STAY AWAY. IF YOU MOVE TAKE MY ADVISE OF RECORDING EVERYTHING. YOU WILL SEE WHY IF YOU DONT.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“Where to begin..should we start with the pest issues or the plumbing? We have caught and killed more mice in one week then I've seen my entire life before moving here. Last week alone there were 6. That's entirely too much!! The plumbing is so bad that we had to move apartments only to have similar issues in the new apartment. We have 2.5 bathrooms but was unable to use 2 out of the 3 for over a month waiting for them to get fixed. There is mold in the master bathroom shower as well as the ceiling and painting over it is their fix. They paint the bathtubs/showers instead of replacing them leaving us to have to deal with chipping paint as we shower. There are more washers and dryers that do not work in the lundry facility then that do. The office people are rude. If you do not speak Spanish then good luck because there is a major language barrier. The pool is either closed for cleaning or dirty. The pool closes when the leasing office does, leaving no time for people who don't get off til 5 time to swim. When they do maintenance they track dirt in and leave their trash and supplies all around for you to dispose of.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“I just moved to the Alora apartments. I'm very happy with my apartment. I work in the medical center and the location is so convenient. So far everything that I have reported has been taking care of. Even though there is only one pool, is always so clean and in the mornings you get to enjoy it even more. The grounds are always kept clean, the fitness center has the basic equipment that is needed. I will recommend this property, I'm very pleased with the service. When you come to the office they always make you feel welcome.”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“Ms Julie Arredondo was such a pleasure to meet. Management was really good they were so super helpful in making sure we found the best apartment for us. We love it here :)”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“I've been a resident at the Alora Apartment Homes since June of 2014 and in that time the professional management team and maintenance crew have exceeded my expectations and have made my experience in this community more than I could have hoped for. As a 55yr old man who's made Houston home since 1982 I have lived in apartment's both high and medium end and in all my experience's I have not had an apartment over all rating as high as the Alora. I recommend getting an apartment home here if you can they stay full. From the moment you drive up you notice the landscaping is well kept with clear visibility and the lawns kept up as well. The management team is helpful, inviting, very professional and make diligent effort to bring the hole community together with actives for all to enjoy add that together with the maintenance crew who deliver a level of service that is usually next day and done right the first time! For myself these amenities are priceless! Did I mention that security is on sight from dusk till well after sunrise I have always felt safe here and appreciate the peace of mind. Hope you come see for your self and enjoy a cup of the great coffee that's here in the office!”
— 5500 El Camino Del Rey St · Houston“moved here back in September haven't really had any major problems and when I did the office was pretty decent on getting it taken care of. everybody minds there own business and I love living close to the freeways and Westheimer”
