This is a great place to live. It's both close and far enough from the central Galleria area (5-10 min away, but a tad less urbanized). Really peaceful and quiet at all times. Amazing price for the area; utilities are paid so no particular worrying about air-conditioning during the Summer. Mailboxes, Laundry rooms and pool always a few steps away. Only downside I can find is that it's not particularly visitor-friendly. Let me explain: each resident is provided with a personal covert parking spot, but visitors must park outside the gate, and the walking gates are not ideally positioned. But if you can get over that little detail, it's indeed a great place to live.

Neighbor on one side is mentally challenged and sings perverted songs at the top of his lungs when his mother is gone, Previous neighbor on the other side had sex screaming obsenities at the top of her lungs for an hour at a time. New neighbor now screams at her kid to get out of her room all night long and into the morning. The manager said to call the police, the police won't do anything. The manager's daughter lives nearby, and is constantly over after hours. Isn't it a conflict of interest for her daughter to live here? The water is the weirdest thing. It is constantly off for repairs, but never gets fixed. When my refrigerator wouldn't stay closed because the seal was bad, maintenance told me I didn't know how to close a refrigerator door! Excuse me? Cabinets and drawers won't close. Bathroom is mildewed no matter how much clorox is used. Carpet is the the worst ever! 90% of the sidewalks are covered in water and mud, making it impossible to keep the lowest grade carpet ever clean. Laundry rooms are trashed all the time, some have no hot water. Only one has a/c. The other laundry rooms have the windows sealed open and no a/c. The only reason I stay is for the schools and location, and rent is the cheapest in the area. Once the last has graduated, I'm out of here.

Moved out of Fox Hall Apartments back in 2012. The only big problem for me was parking. It is the worst. First my spot was very far from my apartment. Then I was assigned to park next to someone that hogged my spot and their spot. Management did nothing about it. It got to the point where the person got mad and keyed my car because I parked in my spot. The only thing management did was move me to another spot, but get this the spot was assigned to someone else. I came home one night with no where to park. I mean no where cause someone was in my new spot. They finally gave me another spot which put me back by the people that keyed my car. Like crazy. I hated the parking there. Also the AC/Heating thing irritated me. If it falls below a certain degree the AC did not work it was only heat. I would go to sleep cold and wake up in a deep sweat because the temperature would drop and that heater would come on. I would have people over and we are hot but I could not turn the AC on because of the degrees outside and vice versa my company and I was cold but due to temperature could not turn on heater so had to open the oven for some heat. That was very irritating. Outside of that everything else was fair. The appliances are not the best but what is to be expected. I did end of finding dead cockroaches in my home from time to time which didn't bother me because they were dead. I did see a snake crawl into a neighbors patio. There were always insects around my door. All my neighbors were nice. My apartment faced the streets so I didn't have a view problem. The pool was always clean. The complex was quiet as well.

I've lived at Fox Hall eight years now. It's an old complex. The a/c is an old water based system like the Astrodome. The thermostat only kicks the blower fan on and off, so on those days when it's been warm enough to run the a/c during the day you can wake up in the middle of the night with the heat running. You can't run just the blower to circulate some air, so be prepared to buy fans. Other than replacing the carpeting every so often and painting, there's been no upgrades since the place was built in 1969. When they have to replace an woodwork, the people doing the work evidently use the cheapest they can find, which is usually green (uncured) wood so the wood eventually warps. I've got cubbord doors this way. The whole complex is settling and seriously need of being leveled. You can feel the wood floor rising up in places under the carpeting. You can't open the windows when the weather is nice to get fresh air in, because they've removed all the screens. Now, to be fair, the maintenance is very closely kept up. I've only twice in eight years needed something fixed, and they were always out quickly. It IS a quiet complex. I've read another review here that describes the area as close to the barrio, but it's not true. It doesn't even start go get bad at all until you get north of Westview, the other side of the Katy. Parking is pretty good, but there's not enough of it, something they obviously can't rectify based on the design of the place. They keep the grounds up pretty well. Obviously, the best feature of the place is the location. Being just west of the intersection of the Katy and the west loop, you're going AGAINST the traffic a lot of ways going to work, plus anything going on at Memorial Park or downtown is a lot closer to go to than driving in from the suburbs. My only BIG complaint about the place is that they keep raising the rent on average $50.00 per year. When you ask why, they only cite keeping up with the market rates. In other words, THERE'S NO JUSTIFICATION FOR IT, JUST GREED!! There ARE unrented units there, so you'd think they'd show some appreciation for the long term tenants. Kathleen at the office is great, but the manager is arrogant, with a very much take it or leave it attitude. I can only assume that matches the ownership of the complex. The questions below ask if you'd recommend Fox Hall, yes or no. I wish there were a third choice, such as "not sure" or "maybe, with qualifications".

Who is the manger of Fox Hall. I lived there for a short time and never knew who the manger was. Had problems with the water always being brown of yellow and when called the office was told the pipes were old. Had a water leak in my apt and when I called the maintance staff just came and looked but did not have it repaired for more then two days after the ceiling caved in. The plants haved over grown and makes it hare to even walk down thw sidewalks.Found the security sheeping in the landery matt the day my car was broke into. would not advise anyone to move here never know what you may find.
