I have live here for a year in a half in the one bedroom. I don't have any complaints except the parking. If you don't lease a parking space then after 9:30pm the parking spaces get scarce. But the employees are great, the walls are thick, and there is a valet trash service. I would recommend it, i pay 694 for 700sq ft. That's pretty damn good.

Ok, my husband and I have been living here for about five months now. When we first moved in we had a pretty major catastrophe when our ceiling fell in due to an untreated leak and the subsequent stomping about on the roof by people who were supposed to be fixing it. Another leak in one of the bedrooms also ruined a mattress. The office staff, however, were really great and helpful during that mess, and Laurie (hope I'm spelling that right) even went to the Walmart just around the corner and got us an air mattress for a couple of nights so we'd have something to sleep on. They offered to put us in another empty apartment as well, but it was easier for us to stay where all of our clothes and food were. It took a while for the manager to get back to us on moving us to a hotel but we did eventually get put in an extended stay hotel for a few days while the ceiling was being fixed. No problems with it since then. I'm sure that something like that is very uncommon, so my mentioning it is more to tell how the staff handled a big problem. Since then, I've not really had many complaints about the apartments. Noise level is pretty low, there are some noisy kids but they don't spend any time over by our building. People don't pick up after their pets enough. The place is old, so there are some things like gaps in the door, windows that don't open/stay open, and the like. The shower is annoying - because the building has a shared water heater it can and does fluctuate between freezing and scalding. We rented a newly remodeled apartment so the appliances, carpet, and faux hardwood flooring are all new and look pretty good. Valet trash is a blessing. Staff keeps you up to date on crimes in the area, which is great from a preparedness point of view. The general crime rate seems to be fairly low from what I've heard of. The area where I have to park my car is too far from our apartment (reserved spots aren't guaranteed to be near your place), and the walk to my apartment is poorly lit, so that's kind of scary. Location is pretty good for us. There're grocery stores right around the corner, a movie theater, decent drive to the Galleria or Memorial City Mall, and not too bad a drive to the museum district either. We're moving soon to a nicer apartment in a better area, but overall I think Castlewood has been good for the rent.

I've lived here for two years and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the place, aside from the parking at night. It's improved slightly but that's honestly the only issue I've ever had and as long as you get in before 8pm, you won't have a problem. Their maintenance crew is fantastic, they're always sent right over especially if there's an emergency. Most of the apartments are a bit older but as others have said, they're very good about doing repairs. Any noise complaints I've had have been immediately dealt with and overall neighbors mostly keep to themselves. Fair warning, the walls are thin. Not too terribly many kids though. The pool is always open during the summer and clean, never too packed either. The gym was recently upgraded and now has all your basic stuff and then some, also never too crowded. The washers and dryers have always worked. As far as crime goes, we've had one break in and one person mugged at gunpoint in two years and compared to the surrounding areas, that's pretty decent considering it is Houston. You won't find better around here, I can guarantee it. Did my research before moving in and you will NOT find better for the price. I'll be very sad to move once my lease is up in 6 months and I'd take Castlewood's management with me if I could! Christy and Lori are the greatest.

The new management has started making some very positive changes. Open parking used to me a nightmare at night, but now it's not a problem at all. Their maintenance team is very efficient and I've never had to wait more than 2 days to have something taken care of. The sq ft of the 1 bedroom is really nice. The hallways could use a face lift though, but I'm sure they'll look into that soon. For laundry you have to load a card with cash in the office so, that is inconvenient when you aren't able to access the machine when the office is closed. Otherwise the staff is always very nice and helpful.

These apartments aren't as bad as the negative reviews you will read. Yes the apartments are older, but they do take care of them. I have had to call maintenance twice and both times they took care of the situation the same day. Parking isn't an issue if you reserve a spot. There are lots of children which can get noisy but kids are kids. No one bothers you and everyone is very friendly. There is always an over night patrol officer. There is only one wAy in and one way out of the apartments which gives me piece of mind. Bugs could be a problem. Keep your place clean and it won't be an issue. The ladies in the office are always so helpful. Overall I am very satisfied with this place. It's affordable, cleAn, and safe. What more could you ask for?

I have lived her for about 10 months and I really like it here, the apartments are a bit older but they are kept up very well. I love that I don't hear noise from my neighbors. I can play my music loud and I don't hear it when I stand outside of my apartment. I love that the laundry room is open 24 hrs a day. They need to upgrade the washers or at least have them working but thats something workable. Parking is something that needs attention as well but I love our courtesy officers they are friendly and I always see them walking around. I will renew my lease

I've been living here for about 6 months now, and I think I've got a good feel of how things are now. I see a lot of negative reviews on here, so I think it's only fair that I contribute my take on things to help even out the super negativity. PROS: 1. Rent is really affordable, especially considering the development in the area. Spring Branch is clearly on it's way up, and it can be evidenced by all the custom town homes springing up nearby. While Spring Branch may have had a bad rap in the past, this trend shows that it's only uphill from here. 2. This place is safe. According to the staff, the last reported break in that happened here was 5 years ago. I haven't seen anyone's car being broken into, nor have I seen any vandalism. There's even an armed guard at night. Despite the reputation of the surrounding areas, none of that crime comes here. I feel safe here, and as do many families, as there are a lot of kids who play around the property with no problem. 3. Absolutely amazing location. Being very close to both I-10 and 610 is a huge plus. It only takes 4 minutes to get on to the freeway. Also for those who don't have cars, the Houston Metro Northwest Transit Center is only a 10 minute bike ride away. From here its only about 15-20 mins to downtown, and only about 15 mins to Memorial City Center. The stretch of I-10 between 610 and Beltway has it's fair share of awesome restaurants and attractions. This is a good central location to be at to really enjoy Houston. 4. The staff are awesome. Lori and Christie are both amazing people and are very accommodating to any requests I ask of them. Most, if not all, maintenance requests are taken care of the same day I call. Despite this being an older property, I haven't had too many instances where I'd need to call maintenance for anything major. 5. Despite the other comments here, I haven't had a roach problem. Since I moved in, I took the precaution of putting roach traps all over the place, and I've only seen about 6 roaches so far. No more than that, and very few ants as well. The staff also offered to bring in an exterminator if we request it, and they go so far as to allow us to request it for every week if we want. 6. Maybe the management is new or something, but there are always some kinds of improvements going on here. It's nice to see the maintenance crew working to make the place better a little at a time. CONS: 1. It's not the best-looking complex on the outside, but the maintenance people at least do their part to maintain it. This complex is a bit dated since it's been around since the 1970s. 2. Parking is an issue if you don't have a reserved spot. It's almost necessary, since the number of parking spots are limited. It makes for a bit of complexity when you have guests over. 3. The parking spots are kind of small, so good luck parking next to a truck. 4. Only one entrance/exit from the property, so sometimes it gets a bit crowded. I wish they opened the second gate, it would make it much easier to enter/exit the property. 5. At the expense of sounding old, sometimes the kids in the complex get a bit rowdy. Nothing big, just may annoy people from time-to-time. 6. The power has gone out briefly a few times when it has rained a lot. The internet sometimes goes out during these periods as well. 7. When it rains, there are a lot of puddles. A lot. The drainage on the sidewalks is poor. 8. Cell signal may be spotty in some areas due to the copper piping in the walls (at least according to the T-Mobile sales rep I talked to). 9. Sometimes some of the residents leave trash lying around in some of the covered parking. That's about it! I'd say you get quite a bang for your buck here.

Horrible horrible roach infestation here!!!! They made these Apts sound so awesome. They spend more time worrying about curfew for adults at 11:00 rather than getting rid of this bad roach problem. Its disgusting and very unsanitary! DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!

I have been living here at Castlewood for 2yrs...I even brought my mom to live here, i think that should say enough! There's a new manager, and new changes are taking into affect and i can say that things here are only getting better. I have referred a lot of friends and have been able to enjoy my $300bonus 3x already. They mean what they say! Great Maintenance guys, the day my AC went out, they were there within minutes! Many complain that they're slow to respond, but then again people complain about little things that they can fix... They're courtesy officer walks the property at different times, he's very good about getting the kids in by 7pm and reinforcing the 10pm cerfew time..No complaints there. And now that the office is requiring pool passes-def. keeping unwanted folks away! I only have 1 bad thing--People do not clean up after their freakin pets!!!!

I have lived here for several years and have seen many changes over time. Some good and some not so good. However, when it comes to the staff, they are always very helpful, understanding, kind and friendly. The new staff is better than the last and I hope they keep up the good work. I am quite comfortable living here.
