My wife and I have lived here for several years now. I truly have no complaints. I decided to leave a few words after seeing all these false reviews. Castlewood staff really care for their residence. They will go above and beyond for you. There has been some crime, but hey we are in Houston and it will happen anywhere. Be aware of your surrounding. The brown water pictures: anytime the city does work on the water line water anywhere the water looks a little dingy right after the repair is complete, that's not castlewood, that is the city. Parking is tight, they have a lot of residents who love living here obviously, that's why there are so many cars. Figure out a system to ensure you have parking. As far as maintenance, they do their best to get repairs done quickly. We truley had no issues and enjoy staying here. Thank you Castlewood for giving us a place to call home

My family has lived here for 24 years lets start at that. We have lived here for 24 years and I have NEVER seen this complex in such horrible condition until now. The complex has seriously gone downhill. So much to say let's just start with parking. It's HORRIBLE! Luckily I pay for a reserved spot because if I did not have my spot I would be parking in Egypt. They let people park wherever the hell they please including the fire lanes! So hopefully there is no fires because we will all be screwed. Castlewood's website claims there is overnight security. Yea that's a lie as well. The "overnight" security is just a security guard that drives through to make sure ---- is okay and then leaves the property. Yea I feel safe. In fact there are alot of lies on their website that they use as their selling points. A staffed access gate? Yea we use to have 6 years ago. They tore the security booth down to put up a big Castlewood sign. There isn't even a closed entrance gate. It's wide open for anybody to come in. They say they don't allow any agressive breed dogs. Yea there are a ton of pitbulls here. (Not against pitbulls just stating their false policy). The crime has never been so bad in this complex until now. The tailgate off of my truck was recently stolen and when I reported it to the office all I received from them was a "well i'm sorry". Yea thanks. I also started finding out how much crime was actually happening in our complex that isn't being reported WHICH IS ALOT. So many cars have been broken into, tailgates being stolen, tires being stolen, and even motorcycles being stolen!! I guess the only thing we need to be notified about is if there is a murder (which there has been). Besides long walks on the beach Castlewood's hobbies also include shutting off utilities without notice. For example, we went without power for over 24 hours in HOUSTON SUMMER HEAT . Of course management didn't care because they had homes with power to go home to. The property manager Joei was even quoted in the Memorial Examiner saying they were working out a way to compensate the residents for the I'm still waiting for that compensation. Water has been shut off numerous times as well. Oh wait let me mention one of the worst things. After Hurricane Harvey I opened the hallway closet to find BLACK MOLD in the corner. I called emergency maintenance and when they came they told me that was not an emergency and they would come back the very next day in the I didn't see them till three days later. Ladies and gentlemen please save your money and your time and DO NOT move here. This is a horrible place to live. As of right now I am looking for somewhere else to go and can't wait to kiss this place goodbye.

I've had so many problems. -My apartment flooded twice. The first happened after the Maintenance man named Jose improperly connected my washer. Water flood the bathrooms the dining room and both bedrooms the first day. All our boxes were soaked. -The Second Flood happened when the same thing happened upstairs a few months later. This time our wall were soaked with water from the ceiling down. -After at least 4 times visiting the office for repair work on the AC they finally came to see why nothing was working an there was a huge ball of ice surrounding outflow vent. When it melted we flooded again. The A/C froze over because the unit wouldn't respond to the command to shut-off and continued operating for a month in December. The bill was more than doubled and the office fought with us claiming they weren't responsible and they fixed a problem every time. Yet Jose would simply turn it on and wave his hand over the vent and leave. -In just the year I've been here there were two Utility Disasters that I know of. One week the electricity went out for the entire weekend until Sunday in SUMMER in about 75% of the complex. All our food was ruined and they gave no compensation. Next the water was disable without telling anyone coming home to no functioning toliets or running water. This complex looks good when you drive but drive to the back and it's a different story. They spent a ton of money upgrading the interiors but the painting was sloppy. The wood work in the closets looks like a child with a nailgun preformed it all. They promised a lot in the Office and Grace always says they are "Better than across the Street" but it's not that much better. This complex is 40 years old and they spent nothing on fixing the electrical polls or the pipes. My Complaints -When it rains certain areas lack proper drainage. You get water in your apartment or right at the door. -Car parking is RIGHT NEXT TO THE BEDROOMS in nearly all apartments so slamming doors and loud drunk people are normal. Watch out if some one has a motorcycle -The kids actively dig up and destroy stone walk ways. -The kids run around knocking doors and then run away -The dog owners are HORRIBLE. Pet waste is everywhere especially from big dogs. -The staff is NICE but unhelpful and incompetent. We were lied to frequently about getting the apartment checked for molded for our protection. I have mold stains in the bath room where water came from the second story. The infamous Jose came in and sprayed it with Kilz Primer and left. He didn't cut into the wall to see if there was mold behind the walls no matter how many times the office girls said he would. -The water bills are ridiculously HIGH. $50-60 dollars because the place is so old they don't have water meters for each unit. The Water Bill is split up among the entire community and their has been a continuous leak for the past year (or so they say) that we're all paying through the nose for. -Parking is terrible. You will have to park on the street outside of the complex. Don't count on the covered parking. They don't regulate it and have no idea how many spots are actually free. Late one night I counted 80 spots at 3am but they'll tell you none are available. The Good. - Electricity bill is good because the apartments are usually in shade. -Very close to the Movie Theater and the freeway. -Very safe. Security patrols several of the complexes. No break-ins or car theft. -The people are nice, mostly Spanish speakers This place has Long Long way to go

Rusty apartment with no SECURITY at all! I can't say enough of how frustrating it was to live here. They turned off the power for 2 days straight in the summer with no warning to the residents. They turned off the (hot) water occasionally with no warning. The property has no gate and anyone can enter since the security guard only came occasionally. There were homicide and robbery inside the property in daytime. They only have one security camera in the front and its quality was so bad that they couldn't track the robber from the picture it took. Parking is another issue that drives me crazy everyday. They let guests and visitors park in the residents' spot overnight so it's impossible to find parking at night. The staffs are friendly but not helpful at all. They do not do their job to maintain the livable conditions of the property. The location is convenient but it's not worth the frustration of living here. The picture shows the disgusting orange water from my bathroom. You may have skin infection from this!!!!!

Old, rundown and dirty apartment. The pipes are rusty and water has the yellow orange color. Carpets are super old and nasty. Dog owners don't pick up after their pets. There are not only poops on the grass but sometimes on the paved walkway. It's super gross. They're in the process of some renovation but they should focus more on SECURITY, not the aesthetic of the complex. There is no gate, they took down the gate and the security booth and replaced it with plants and flowers?!!! I don't think plants and flowers are more important than the safety of residents. There were car break-ins and robbery when I lived there. There are often shouting, yelling and fighting in the middle of the night in the complex. Parking was fine at first when we moved in because they only let visitors parked in resident spots til 6pm. Over the course, they had changed that policy and let visitors park overnight. It was IMPOSSIBLE to find parking, even along the street behind the complex. Office staffs were very nice and friendly but most of time, they're not helpful because they kept saying it was the company's policy and they couldn't do anything to fix the problems. Being nice is a plus, but I also would like problems to be addressed. Overall, not worth the money. It's a convenient location, but I would rather live somewhere further and have higher chance to live than living there and risking being robbed or shot.

I love living at Castlewood, been here going on 14 years now. The management and staff are super friendly and super responsive when it comes to getting things done. Any work orders put in are always turned around that day or at the most the next day. The maintenance people are polite and leave the place clean when they've completed their task. The grounds of the complex are cleaned every day, pools are well maintained. They are in process right now of redoing the outsides of the buildings and it's going to be great. I cannot imagine living anywhere else. This is HOME to me.

Horrible apartments..Roaches everywhere as much as you keep clean they don't go away. Not safe at all why did you knock down the security box for? And why would you knock down the front gate and replace it with trees!! At this point they are more concerned of how the apartments look from the outside than how they look from the inside. The property is old there's mildew everywhere and maintance only paints over it.AC units are old they hardly cool During those hot summers and maintance guys give you the ugliest attitude when there's a work order for your apartment as if it's your fault that pipe bursted and your entire apartment flooded and now he's stuck shampooing your carpet yet your stuck with all your damaged ---- and the office can care less...They are only nice to when they wanna be oh but don't call them out on the -------- they are quick to turn on you...---- is making the property go to ---- bring back --------. And that -------- girl in the front that says that claims to not speak Spanish is useless! She completely has no clue what is going on. Check out Oak forest apartment in front they are making better changes ,The legends on memorial on silber Rd staff is very friendly. All around the same price. Dont bother with this filthy property you will regret it

I have lived at Castlewood for the past two years in two different apartment units. My first unit was a 2br 1 bath brownstone. I loved this unit it was upstairs with a really nice view. My second unit was a 2br 2bath which also had a nice view of the reserved parking are and courtyard. The grounds are always clean, repair request are taken care of quickly. I had a roof leak due to a really bad storm. The office and maintenance staff took a great concern to making sure the repairs, paint and carpet was completed in less than a week time. If I did not have to move for other family reasons I would continue to live here. I will miss the TOP NOTCH manager and staff who was always friendly and welcoming.
