Unless you want thousands of cockroach roommates, don't choose this apartment. Remodel of units is just to cover up the infestation. They sprayed all the time, but the roaches were always there. I couldn't cook without them running out to try to join in dinner. Yes, it's an inexpensive apartment, but ask yourself why!

I have lived at Medical Center Apartments for close to two years now. Before moving here, I lived in larger apartment complexes where the staff was unfriendly and I always felt the company was coming up with new things to add to the rent. The interaction that I have had with the staff at Medical Center Apartments has been both positive and thoughtful. They are prompt with emails concerning apartment maintenance and quick to answer any questions. Because of where the apartments are located, you are within walking distance of several restaurants, grocery stores, and convenient stores and in the midst of great neighborhoods. I highly recommend these apartments!

Good area. Management is amazing which matters a lot! They really want to make the place better. Laundry machines don't dry very well and there aren't many of them. You have to schedule carefully and make your loads small (2.50 for a wash and dry) or they will still be wet after drying. There is not enough parking so you will have to street park. That is no big deal, but the people in the nearby town homes are pretentious busy bodies that will leave notes on your car if you park in front of their houses. Even though its street parking for the public. No dishwasher or icemakers. Central boiler system.

I have lived in these apartments for about a year and a half and have no complaints. The management is responsive and very easy to deal with. Whatever minor issues I have had (wear and tear/things needing to be replaced), were responded to more or less immediately, no questions asked. The neighborhood is safe and quiet and the building itself is likewise. Highly recommended.

The Owner/Manager is approachable and genuinely helpful. Maintenance when requested is always timely and done well. It appears to me that the maintenance staff actually enjoy helping the residents as needed. The neighborhood is across the street from Pershing Middle School and is located within a stable neighborhood of families with adequate presence of both Houston Police and Harris County Constables. A fire department is only a few blocks away also. I feel safe living here. The rent includes all utilities, and compared to what other apartments require in the general surrounding areas which like these were built several years ago I find the rent here rather reasonable. The #2 Bus on Holcombe / Bellaire is within a short walking distance and runs every 15 minutes very early in the morning to past midnight. The residents are a combination of mid 20's with children plus a few semi-retired folks and a few 30 something professionals. Only one parking permit is given per family for the parking areas, but there is ample parking along the street next to the Pershing Middle school for second cars, and the streets are all well-lit. Pets are allowed (although I don't have one) and those that have dogs keep them on leashes when outside, which is typical of the respectful residents who live here. As with most Houston apartments an insecticide treatment is done every two months, and in the case of these apartments the insecticide treatment includes a chemical that actually keeps the roaches from reproducing and it works! I rarely have roaches in my apartment. I can't speak for the other residents in this regard, however I have found that no matter where I have lived in Houston a few Combat cartridges in the bathroom and kitchen also help. Such is Houston, however this isn't a problem with my apartment. The Owner/Manager continues to invest in the upkeep and remodeling of the facilities to keep them in good running order. A grocery store and pharmacy and several eating places are all within a short walking distance. For those who work in the Medical Center these apartments are far enough away from the Medical Center to keep the rent reasonable but close enough to the Medical Center to be a very short drive or bus trip to get there. Overall, I have found living here very reasonable and for apartment type living and in addition to the two plus years I have been here I plan to continue to stay here especially as long as I work in the Medical Center.

I've lived in a 1x1 at the Medical Center Apt for about a year. The only reason I moved out is because I moved in with my fiance, otherwise I would still be living there. First appearance from the outside of the apt is an aged apartment surrounded by luxury townhomes. I wasn't too intrigued at first, but when I entered into the apartment I was pleasantly surprised. It had a lot of closet space and just enough space for me and my dog. The rent and location makes up for the aged exterior - with great surrounding neighborhoods, whole-foods access, friendly and intimate dog-park within 3 miles, YMCA and more. The neighbors can seem a bit sketchy but once you get to know them, they're very friendly and respectful. There's no office for the apt but the landlord is on site every morning if not every other day and the management lived on-site which was convenient. Also, the landlord is actually going through renovations in the exterior and interior of the apartment. I noticed it was going slowly, but surely. I wish they would upgrade some of the appliances (especially refrigerators) Overall, I do recommend this place and if you are a young-professional or an intern looking for a great location to live in but want to save money. This is the place for you :)

The Medical Center Apartments is a Great Place to Live! We live here since one year.Reasonable rent, silent and friendly neighbors, medium sized building so all the tenants get quick access to all the amenities and services. Pleasant location, minutes walk to shopping, YMCA, public and private schools, public library and public transportation. Very very safe and good neighborhood. The interiors are remodeled, convenient, and clean.Overall, it's a great place to live!

We stayed here for a few months during our internship in Houston. The complex was located in a very upscale area with many nice townhouses and mansions around it. The property itself was older but the owner has been improving it; they started putting in a deck when we were there. Despite it's outside appearance, the interior was actually very tastefully updated and there was central AC - a must for Houston. There seemed to be a lot of professionals living there. I met a few doctors who worked in the Texas Medical Center and also an attorney working for one of the Houston professional sport teams. The owner and maintenance staff were very good and responsive. The manager was somewhat moody but other than that it was a very positive experience. We could walk to many shops and the Whole Foods Market has many interesting activities.
