So I have been living here for 3 years. Certain things have prevented me from moving. But I'm out of here in a couple of weeks. First off, the roaches are like super roaches. They never die. I have had the so called pest controll come out and nothing. They seem to multiply with each spray. I have used the defogger sprays several times and they still march on. The second problem, I had mold on all my carpets and mushrooms started to grow out of them. Yes, mushrooms. After complainging for months they finally came and fixed that. The third issue is I have mice. Not just one or two of them, a whole colony. It is an infestation. I have spent at least hundred dollars of my own for traps, sticky traps, rat pellet bait, u name it I bought it. The mice are in my closet with all my clothes and I'm trying to pack and I can't get in there to get all of my clothes out. The office staff told me that was not an inffecent reason to break my lease, hello, have these idiots heard of the plague? I have an infant daughter. One of those rodents ran right over my daughters legs. Well My lease is up at the end of April, but I'm moving out before then. I just can't sit in there with mice all over the place. I'm not even staying there right now, I'm staying with my mom.

My son moved here because he wanted to be on his own. This was all he could really afford. I was hesitant and now I know it was with good reason! This place is infested with gangs, drugs, and guns. He was ambushed by four (4) men in his own apartment and held at gunpoint. They beat him and robbed him. Even after offering the apartment management a police report, they refused to allow him out of his lease with just 3 months to go on it. They further offered no security to return to the apartment to retrieve the things he had there. These individuals who assaulted him actually live in the complex and two are still on the loose. They have threatened my son's life if he returns. Again, the apartment management will not provide appropriate security for my son to return. It has now been one entire month since my son set foot in that apartment. He will not return for his belongings or his mail. It is simply too dangerous! I have asked the apartment management to address this with me as we would like to return for his belongings. Today, he is without anything to start over with in a new place. All of his furnishings, dinnerware, and even sentimental items have been left behind and the apartment management simply does not care. This is how they treat people who faithfully pay their rent each month. It is nothing but pure evil at Sharon Park Village. It is truly a scary place.

PARKING. Do use the bus. NOISE. From neighbors above my apartment, and also from another one who also is right next door to my own apartment. GROUNDS. Need better taking care of, the whole complex. SAFETY. Need a lot more, some of the people in the complex might be into crimes; maybe even organize neighbors into CERTeams. CONSTRUCTION. Buildings were done most likely in the late 60's, or 70's, do to low electrical conections as well as the lack for phone conections in the apartment. MAINTENANCE. They do as much as they may be able to, not more, especially with the thight budget that they may have. STAFF. They may only due as much as u might remind them to do, that is all. OVERALL. About three days ago, did let staff know about the need of a bathroom faucet, in the shower, still nothing. Also some time ago, did let them know about need for Window, and patio door screens, NOTHING yet. Also some time ago I did make sure that a couple of employee's of them noticed the need of another window in my room, has been cracked since before I did move in.

The price is nice, but living here sucks. I moved in in May and I have repeatedly had problems with the A/C and Heating unit. No A/C in the Houston Summer and no heat right now when it's in the 30's. The boiler has gone out in my building multiple times. Once i went 6 days straight with no hot water. There was a roach problem when i first moved in...it took them about two months to get that under control. There was no weather stripping on the door, so in the wettest Summer in Houston in a long time, my apt flooded by the door ever time it rained. It took them a month to fix that and I'm currently living with a mold problem because of that. The office staff could care less about the residents. I once called and was on hold for 10 minutes. I finally just walked down to the office and the ladies in there were having a personal conversation amongst themselves in one of the offices. They don't properly keep track of the packages that come into the office, and they don't let you know if a package has come for you. The mail box is often left completely open, so anyone could come steal your mail if they wanted. It's always noisy here. Between the Tejano music blasting from apartments with open doors or from people's cars, the screaming children both day and night, or the sounds of people screwing and/or fighting next door or upstairs...the noise rarely stops. I've yet to have any security issues. But the courtesy officers at the front gate aren't worth the money they spend on them. The rarely stop any car from entering the property. All in all, if you don't mind noise and poor management, you could stay here. I'll be moving when my lease is up in May!

Since the beginning of May, I have taken probably 5 hot showers, the rest have been cold. When you call the office or the answering service (when the office staff forwards the phones) all you ever hear from them is: "Maintenance is working on the problem." If you are lucky enough to check the hot water and it is on, then you should go ahead and take a shower right then, because in the next 10 - 15 mins, it's going to be off and you probably aren't going to get it back until sometime tomorrow. Also, my walls and ceilings have cracks all in them, I am just waiting until my lease is up, so I can get out of here and worrying, IF my walls are going to hold up or are they going to collaspe anytime now. The handle for the hot water on my bathtub has been broken for about a month now and I have to use a pair of pliers to turn it on, that is, IF if is working. I have called at least 3 times to get someone out here to fix this problem and it still hasn't been corrected. The office said there is an noise ordinance rule for after 10pm. Well, just try to call the security guard about this. IF you happen to get security at the gate to answer, they will either say, "ok, I'll be out there in a little while" or the person at the gate will refer you to to Police Department. My apartment was broken into last year and I was out of town. I got back the next day and learned from a very dependable neighbor that my apartment had been broken into. When I called the office to ask them "why" they didn't notify me about the break-in, they said, "because we didn't know you were out of town." It shouldn't matter whether they know, I am out of town or not, they have all numbers to reach me, I believe they should have called me to let me know that this had happened, whether I was out of town or not, I should have been notified. Also, if you are going to be doing your clothes here at the apartment laundry facilities, STAY WITH YOUR CLOTHES, otherwise, someone is going to go in there and steal either all of them or just some of them. Recently, my brother and his girlfriend were here for 1 week and he went to do the clothes came back to the apt. to get something and when he returned almost all of his girlfriend's panties were missing. Not to mention the parking, it is unbelieveable. I have paid for a covered parking spot and at least twice a week, I either can't get into my parking space or I can't get out of my parking space, because people park where ever they feel like it. I reported this to management in the office and they told me, they were going to start having people towed off that were parked like that. Well, I haven't seen a tow truck towing anyone out of this apt. complex for parking illegally yet and it's been at least 8 months since I reported this for the 2nd or 3rd time. If you happen to get a parking space close to your apt. (that isn't a paid covered parking spot) that is not reserved don't leave because when you get back, it will be taken probably by someone that don't even live here. There are 8 swimming pools at this apt. complex, but I assure you, you do NOT want to swim in any of them. The residents at this complex let their kids run around unsupervised and they throw all kinds of stuff in the pools. So, just so you stay safe, you avoid the pools at all cost. Otherwise, you might end up in the hospital with some awful disease.

Do not move here at all. Gangs proliferate here. Sharon Park Village seems like central headquarters for the Southwest Cholos (a violent Mexican gang - SWC). The SWC letters are spray painted on several brick walls and on the wooden fences. The gang members sell drugs on the premises, drug pushers are always prowling and on the look-out for HPD who patrols this crummy apt. with frequency. The gang members also case out apartments and vehicles and burgarlize them at the perfect time. Crime is very high on this property and the surrounding apt. complexes. Do not rent at Sharon Park Village, 5401 Chimney Rock, Sierra or any crummy apt. in the area. They are all crime infested. The best apt. to live at in this area is Lantern Village.

Go the the Houston Police Dept. website and look at all of the crime that has happened at Sharon Park Village. Link below:
http://www.houstontx.gov/police/stats2.htm
In the month of January 2007 according to the above police website 2 auto thefts, 2 burglaries of an apartment and one narcotic offense happened at Sharon Park Village. If I listed all the crime from 2006 you would have a stroke. I could go on listing the crud about this place but hopefully by now, you get the picture.

Rent is cheap at $399.00 a month with no deposit. The low rents creates problems. The apt. provides the electricity so one does not need to contact Reliant or any other electric provider. Parking is horrible, so to make more money SPV charges $15.00 per month for an assigned parking spot. Park in the wrong spot and you'll get towed. Park in the spot period and you risk your vehicle getting stolen or burgarlized. Yikes..........A hell hole........many of the outside lights are broken, vandalized and burned out..........the mgt. is too sorry to fix the lights and take a survey of broken lights at night........the place is scary at night.

I am a current resident that has resided at Sharon Park Village Apts. for almost 3 years. I am happy with living here and have not personally experienced any threatening or unsafe events. The office personnel is always helpful whenever I've had to call or go by in person. As far as maintenance goes, my requests have always been completed in a timely and satisfactory manner. I've also recommended friends that are also happy with living at this property.

I'm not here to give raving reviews for Sharon Park, but i'm also not going to over exaggerate the obvious problems the complex faces. I've been here for little over 2 months, and I can honestly say that aside from the parking issue, everything is alright. The office staff was very friendly and helpful, and offered me every courtesy they could afford. I will say that on my move in day, which was in the middle of Nov. my heater was blowing out cold air which forced me to stay with a friend for the night, but the very next morning I called and reported it to the office, and by the time I made it home from work in the evening, I had a warm and toasty apartment. I know I haven't been here for a long time, but the time that has passed has been pretty pleasant, and hopefully it'll last until my lease is up.
