I have lived at Monticello square apartments for almost 4 years now. The new upgrades to units are beautiful, the maintenance staff is extremely fast to respond to residents needs and the management staff is very kind and professional. Not to mention the property is so peaceful and relaxing. Dont take my word for it. Come down and see for yourself. You will want to make Monticello Square apartments your new home.

I've lived at Monticello since 2009 and we've had our share of managers. I must say that the current Manager is great. She responds to requests in a timely manner and even gives a courtesy call to make sure your request was done to your satisfaction. I thought about moving but I may stay after all. I highly recommend Monticello Square Apts.!

I'm happy to live here, I've been 6 months and so far I have not had any complaints. I always see clean areas and every time I call to fix a problem they do at the time or on occasion come the next day. What I like is that, I have many alternatives to reach places. Nearby i find a very good park, where you can exercise, without much pollution. Another thing I like is that there is a terrific silence that allows me rest when I get home from work. The administration provides very good service are always outstanding.

I am not a complainer- but these are, by far, the worst apartments I have lived in. The conditions are not good- very little maintenance, pool was never open, have seen dog and human waste on ground, poor/lack of communication from management, issues with towing cars parked legally, and bugs- to be specific, an infestation of house roaches. Also, there are 2 community laundry rooms on-site, but the machines are poorly maintained, and strange smells. Most of the residents I talked to stopped using the facilities, and launder elsewhere (if they are lucky) Attempts to solve these problems were fruitless. The management also started, in the past few months, attempting to charge for every little thing- to include summer pool passes! Rent usually includes this. In addition, the management staff often seemed incompetent, unwilling to find solutions, and not very friendly. I wish I did have one good thing to share. Only decent factor is that it is close to 610. However, this single factor is not worth the low quality of living you will find here. Thank you, -------------------

We don't know how we explain about our sufferings here!!! Our AC is not working from 3 months, temperature is between 81 to 86 inside our apartment, we complain almost 3 times a week, every time after 2 weeks of complain they came one day then AC also work for one day & next morning it is same as before !! If we complain Monday they come at Friday & all time they say we will fix it next week. This is impossible to stay in this summer with this AC !! But what can we do now??? where we can complain about this problem ????

I don't have a review about living there, as I never got to that point... Have you ever tried to reach the office? Phone rings and rings and sometimes you are connected to a voicemail, sometimes the line goes dead after several rings. It has been weeks (literally) since management responded to my APPROVED application or emails (I received an email notification of approval from the company that processes the application). No call, no email, no nothing from Monticello Square. Hopefully Orion Management will respond to my request to have my $45 refunded. Please think twice about giving them your money, and think about whether or not you want to have unreachable management if you have an emergency repair request or need ANY assistance while a tenant. Update: I received a call from the office manager the day after this review, and all I was told is "well you didn't pay a deposit did you? Then there is no issue." I was trying to tell her I wasn't given the opportunity to pay a deposit, as I didn't hear back after my approval. She kept talking over me and eventually said "There are people in the office I need to tend to" and literally hung up on me. Seriously, she hung up! I've never experienced something like that before (and I didn't curse or raise my voice whatsoever). The whole thing has been frustrating and I'm glad I signed a lease elsewhere. I'm following up with Orion, the management company. Straight ridiculous.

I'm about to move in here as we now have no other choice since utilities have been switched and notices given to last landlord etc. When I first visited here they showed me a 2 bedroom townhouse. I said great, applied and said I'd come back with the deposit that Friday. I wasn't able to make it due to heavy rains and being 2-1/2 hours drive away so I called about 2pm and spoke to a lady there. She said they were closed on the weekend but that I could come drop it off Monday. I got there Monday morning and the manager asked me who I'd spoken with and then told me that she'd rented the unit out on Friday. She proceeds to show me a 2brdm and 1-1/2 bath apartment that she'd lease to me for the same price as the townhouse even though it normally was 20.00 higher. She showed me and my son the apartment and I thought well ok, this is fine and no stairs inside of the house. All is good. We're passing by the one she says will be ours and that it looks exactly like the one she has shown us. There are still people living in this one and she said they'll be out before Thanksgiving and that their crew works throughout the weekend. I thought that can't be right yet just nodded my head. I called the following Monday, which is the 1st of this month (Dec 2014). I asked the gal who answered if the apartment was ready as of yet. She put me on hold and checked and said it was almost ready but not quite. I said that's ok, my husband is out of town and will be in Wednesday morning, we'll come by and pay the rent and also pick up the keys. We got there at 9am Wednesday morning. First mistake they made was the manager tells the new temp girl that our apartment is 815 per month. I said it's not and reminded her of her agreement that the 2-1-1/2 was 795 due to them leasing out the original apartment I'd applied for. She's like oh yeah ok 795 it is. We get a written lease since their system is down and won't be working properly which means we won't get a proper lease for another week. Anyway, we get all of that gone through with the temp gal, who was great btw. We get out keys and go check the place out. First thing we notice is this god awful sewage smell when we step inside. The next thing we notice is 3 nests of roaches on the ceiling in the living room and one was where the hallway started. Then we notice it seems smaller and there's not a 1/2 bath. It appears to be like the one she'd shown me yet it was smaller and no half bath and even the bathroom in it was situated differently. My husband also takes notice that while they replaced the carpets they didn't put up the side boarding and that the walls look like they've had water damage. So we lock it up and go back to the office. The manager now realizes that we've noticed these things and that the jig is up on her trying to lease us something that isn't for one, what was shown to us and two the right price. I know this sounds crass yet all that comes to mind to me with that type of bait and switch is the word "-------". Now instead of admitting to this mistake and placing us in the one she'd shown us, she gave instead the price of the one we had the keys to. As far as I'm concerned the management here doesn't care about the people living there or the community, just the bottom line. I'm sure bonus money is in there somewhere. This is just from what's happened so far, we're moving in this weekend so I will be updating this review as we did sign a year lease with them.

Unlike majority of recent post, I am NOT submitting my post anonymously. I lived in these apartments for two years and this place was /is HORRIBLE! First of all this place is old and I've lived in older apartments before but not in some that have had as little maintenance and renovations as these. Interior wise, everything is outdated meaning there are yellow (circa 1980) appliances in every unit, the sinks and tub peel because they have been reenameled/restored too many times, and even though the garbage disposal breaks at least once a month they still do not replace it. There are cracks on every interior wall and uneven doors that don't close due to the building being old and shifting. The walls are so thin that I ended up being able to hear my neighbors at night (aawkward!). Exterior wise, the place is an eyesore. There is no landscaping (besides right outside the office of course), the parking lot is horrendous, and there is a sewage smell in the middle of the day due to the plumbing issues in some of the units. They raise your rent & add new fees whenever they feel like it even though the place has no renovations to it. This place has had little to NO maintenace or renovations, it is not a place you can take pride in living in. Parking is the WORSE! You can guarantee the manager will call to get your visitors towed if they are incorrectly parked for any amount of time (even in a matter of an hour). So if you have $200 extra bucks laying around for your parking nightmare you are guaranteed to face then this will not bother you. However, if the parking doesn't drive you crazy the management will. The apartment management is uncompassionate and seem to be aloof at the fact that majority of their residents are low-income families. Sue the apartment manager is a callous person who thinks she has the authority to micro manage her residents. She has let her authority go to her head and speaks to you in a very belittling manner. This alone put me over the edge to leave this place. I've been out of there for a month and a half now and am now living in some apartments in the same vicinity with same rent but they include with extra amenities and are 100% cosmetically better with management that is actually personable. Plus they have given me a $300 referral bonus versus the $50 bonus Monticello offered!
