I was a resident for 2 years, here are my two cents:

Pros:
-on the shuttle route
-proximity to campus
-one big party Thurs-Sat

Cons:
-HORRID office staff
-constant battles with overcharging
-no parking

Supporting evidence:
Long story short, upon notifying the leasing office of my decision to not renew, I was given a billing statement for the month that I would be moving out (you pay the entire month's rent, THEN you get a refund when it is reconciled to a pro-rated month). Typically, this would be okay, but when I moved in two years prior it was mandated that residents pay a deposit as well as the first and last month's rent. So, your first month at BO is about $1000. Fine. I can deal with that. Except, they cleaned house within their staff every four months which made it increasingly difficult to maintain any kind of decent relationship with management because they were completely unaware of your history. So, when it came time for me to move out, they refused to acknowledge I paid first and last month's rent when I moved in. I REFUSED to pay and politely explained that I would seek legal council if they didn't research my case further. So, I moved out and assumed my $200 deposit would eat the remaining balance that they claimed rights to.

Of course, I wasn't lying, and about three weeks ago, I received a refund check for $300. Not only did Bayou Oaks "forget" they had my deposit and last month's rent, but they OVER-CHARGED.

The same situation happened to three (yes, three!) of my roommates. I can only imagine how many unaware tenants are subjected to the same inadequacies.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Ask around, the consensus agrees with my experience.
It's an ok place to stay. The grounds aren't so bad and it's basically right next to UH campus and there is a shuttle that takes all the students from the apts to the center of the campus. They don't choose roommates very well and mine tend to be party boys which is annoying since I need to study alot and do alot of things for my classes.

If you decide to move to bayou make sure you personally view the apartments because you make be disappointed if you view them online.....dont move here if you dont have to. Do your research before you make your decision... I am moving out as soon as my lease is up.....
