I stayed here for fall and spring semester, I am a freshmen in college and I grew up in a big room and very quiet apartment, it was a huge change for me!!! But I plan on staying here next year because its on campus, the greeks are not a problem at all, some people are trying to make it seem like they throw a party every other weekend, and they threw a total of 4 parties. and yes at night it was hard to sleep for FOUR nights only. They took care of any problems i had, the if i had ONE roach they would spray down the whole apartment. People that cant keep their apartment clean have problems, so throw out your food! The staff is great! Brian Sellin is the person to speak to with ANY problems. He will take care of you!!!!

I have lived at Bayou Oaks for a year now, and it is the best your are going to get for on campus living. There is a shuttle that picks up in front of the property and takes you to the University Center, it runs on a fifteen to twenty minute rotation. I did not pick any of my roommates and did not have a problem with them, and if I did, I handled it like an adult, seeing as how we all were. The office staff was friendly and handled whatever I brought to their attention. They throw monthly programs which include free food, and sometimes prizes. The office bakes free cookies every Monday and Friday for the residents to come grab. The resident assistants are realy nice and down to earth. Seeing as how they are pretty much the same age is me, they interact with the residents very well. Sure parking might be a drag at night, but then again, wouldn't you expect it to be. If you attend U of H.. where do you ever park without being ticketed to towed? Right.... thats what I thought. When I was close to eviction I went talked to the business manager and she helped me work out a payment plan, I mean we are all in a recession. It is normally pretty quiet here, the fraternities might throw parties but they are controlled and shut down by 2:00, and are only allowed on the weekends. The maintainence staff are very fast and can fix ANYTHING. Compared to the other living places on Campus I would choose Bayou Oaks, I understand that at the end of the day it is a dorm with apartment features. Its less drama than Cullen Oaks, way better than Cougar place, you dont have to share a room like you do at Cambridge, and the towers and quads are community bathroom. So, if you are looking to live on campus I would highly recommend this place.

horrible place to live, they rip you off with rent and utilities and late fees, not helpful in the office, and overall not a nice place to live with bad room mates!

After living in all the other housing areas on campus, Bayou Oaks is the BEST!!! The staff is GREAT always willing to do whatever it takes. The RA's are extremely helpful I love Bayou and everything it has to offer.

Me and a roommate moved into Bayou after a four hour drive from Dallas. For the two weeks before that we had been arguing with the front office because they lost my deposit and her application, which basically means they never reserved us a room. And now they were up to "capacity". So they moved us into a townhouse with one of the greeks. It was horrible. All the greeks had parties day and all night or just sat outside and talked very loud at all hours of the night. The house we were staying in was filled with annoying girls who never cleaned, complained all day and sang all the time. On top of that, me and my roommate were paying $900 to share one small room and a bathroom. I could live off campus for this. Needless to say we moved and if you have any sense, you wouldnt go in the first place. Well at least not if you plan to sleep or study any in college O and I almost forgot. Please dont expect to park where you live. You have to be in by nightfall to get decent parking. Mostly you have to park in the lot down the street and walk down the dark street to your apartment. And please dont ask any office staff for help. They are all clueless except for the managers but you wont get any help from them. Park anywhere without lines and expect to pay a fine in the morning.

I use to live in the townhouse and then moved into the "apartment" section of the building. The townhouse situation was crazy, they set me, along with 5 other girls in a psycho church group. They did not move us out until we showed them pictures of the church group placing oiled handprints all over the wall, and recorded them doing chants outside of our rooms asking God to remove Lucifer from our room....oh and they like to pray (screaming in toungues)at 5am and again at 8pm every day. There's another review below me that said they lived in 310. I use to live in 310 as well....and there is no lies or jokes about it being roach infested. If you go to the office to complain, their explanation is that they have sprayed and the roaches are coming out to die....which is bull. If you have any serious complaints, the only way they'll listen to you is if you go to the owner of all the buildings, i think his name is Dr. Lee or threaten to bring a lawyer. All of the management is horrible. I had a couple of friends who worked in the office and both left because of how crooked they ran business. Put it short: If you are looking for an on campus place to live that is close by with shuttle services...go and check out cambridge or cullen oaks, I haven't heard or experienced anything bad there.

I lived here the first couple of years after it was built. I guess this place is slightly better than some student housing. Good luck parking if you come home after 12 am. The walls are paper thin, and the parties can get loud and annoying, but most nights I was able to get to sleep with some ear plugs. My randomly assigned roommates were pretty cool, though we had some thermostat wars. Ants were a constant problem the first year. I don't mean just one or two little ants here and there-- if I left a breakfast crumb on the ground they'd be swarming all over the floor by the time I got home from classes. It was my first time living away from home, so I thought maybe I was just messy or something. I've since lived in places that weren't completely infested with bugs and have realized that I'm not that messy and that that kind of ant problem is not remotely normal. If anyone's dealing with the same problem still, those bait traps you can get at the grocery store helped out a lot.

I work nights and come in with no parking spots. I parked out front one time and I got a ticket. There are ants, mice, and pests all over the place regardless of what you do. Good luck with getting them to respond to your needs. I needed my door locks changed because I lost my key which cost $50 to be replaced by them and it still took them 3 weeks with five complaints. ALL the people in the office are entirely to rude and I pay 450 a month to share a room and bathroom. They try to involve the residents but they throw away money on things like Karokee nights and if you need to sleep in, good luck because the lawn men are out at 7 in the morning. I have had nothing but problems with them and not a single person in the entire townhouse I am in would say ANYTHING good about them besides your on campus. That's another thing.... the bus ladies/men, suck and are rude and GOD FORBID if they are interrupted in their 2 hour lunch breaks (sleep breaks/rest breaks/chill breaks/ and "I'm feeling lazy" breaks). STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! If you want to discover the problems yourself just walk up to one of the townhouses and ask some people inside what they trully think.... if you have any questions e-mail me at [email protected]

WELL what can i say...i just think that its an ok place to live if you are living with people that you like. I live with the dirtiset, nastiest girls in TEXAS!! and instead of them being with other filthy roommates they were assigned to stay with me. The people in the office dont give a damn about your complaints!! so just dont even bother...please dont stay here unless you just have to...and the rent is soooo expensive and increases every year GOOD LUCk!!!

(Room 310)Ok I hope your sitting down b/c this is long but anyways this is my first yr at Bayou Oaks upon my arrival at The Bayou I get my eky after driving 3 hours from Austin goto my apartment and it is completely infested with roaches I mean literally thousands of roaches!!!I kid you not... we even moved the fridge to find they were nesting and building a home there. So I instantly run downstairs to management and tell them they act nochanlant about the whole thing and tell me that they had just sprayed the day before and the roaches were all just coming out to die, well long story short I end up staying in a Hotel for 3 days I'm on my second week of school at UofH and by now I'm threatening with a lawyer, SO they move me to cullen for a week and make it very clear that this is not permanent and that I have to leave at the end of the week. SO the end of the week comes I get a bang on the door that I have to get out of the room at Cullen and I ask them where do I go now they say back to the roach room so I back up all my crap in the rain and the room is still sworming with roaches soafter calling the American Campus Corporation not getting any of my phone calls returned and now having threatened to leave school or go back home and come back with my lawyer all of a sudden they have an open clean roach free room available for me...which is funny seeing as how the whole 3 weeks this ordeal went on the said the were capacity which was a damn lie b/c the room i moved into was a 4/2 and there were two rooms that no one had ever been assigned to.This is as short as I could get the story there is so much more I could tell but I hope this helps who ever reads this oh and on top of all the grief I have horrible roommates they are roomates from hell and everything breaks doen on a consistent basis and the electric bill can get out of control and another down side is its a mandatory year lease and managment sucks!!! Especially if you have to deal with Tosha<-----!Either live off campus or maybe Cullen phase I.Oh and they raise the rent $20-$30 every year!!!
