I lived @ the Tree Tops for 18 Months from Feb. 12 to Aug. 2013. At first, the fact that I was on the bottom floor and could have a BBQ grill sold me. Now that I look back, it was just two large rooms with an attached kitchen and a bathroom. Everything was shamelessly dated and declared "new" with fake hardwood floors and plastic "granite" counter tops. When I moved in, the management (Jose and Cindy) were genuine, honest and downright good to deal with. Nevertheless, it was quiet and charming. Venterra sold the property in 2013 to a private investor and hired Greystar to manage it. They put Liu and Nancy in charge, and painted the workout room and added some chairs to the pool. The problems with busted pipes (happened to my girlfriend, water coming out of the walls and happened to me while on a work trip), bat infestation, flooding hallways (next to the bayou) and everything else came with it. To make matters worse, management seemed inept and unprofessional. Throughout this time, Venterra/Private Investor wanted higher and higher rents. Came in at $1,015 (already too high), then to $1,130, and finally to the last offer of $1,205(At which time I moved out) for a 650 sq. ft. place. The remaining good things: Nice trees which earns it its name. Nice location to 610 if you work at the Williams Tower Very low key area because there's mostly office buildings If you can get a patio, you can legally grill (10ft). Tomas the maintenance person has good work ethic and is a good guy.

I wanted to give the management team a chance but they have failed me. I have to say the new management team is very unprofessional. They did give the apartment complex some new looks but everything is superficial. Let me tell you what pissed me off. First, cleanness. The carpet in the hallway was once nearly black before they finally decided to clean it. Second, lack of communication. About a month ago, the fire alarm set off around 2 o'clock in the morning. The whole building was evacuated. Then, that was it! No f*** word about what happened. Silent from the management team until I went to ask them. Didn't we deserve a word if not an apology? Things like this are numerous, broken water heater, laundry price increase, you name it. They never tell you anything in advance unless you ask. Third, style. Nancy smells like a cigarette, and Lo should have worn beachwear instead of suits to match his talking style. No training whatsoever I guess. Finally, bugs!!! Before, there was no bugs at all. Well, maybe one or two giant tree roaches occasionally. NOW? I see roaches everyday! I mean it, literally, EVERYDAY! I'm not talking about tree roaches. I'm talking about small roaches that nest in buildings. The only positives left are the quietness and... Thomas, the maintenance guy, is still here. He gets his jobs done nicely and timely. Cannot imagine if he is gone. What the heck! I will move out anyway after my current contract ends. Good luck!

Been here for 6 months. Management switched to Greystar around March. Most people have not given new management a chance and I believe these people are just upset because they were friends with Cindy and Jose (understandable). I have had no issues with new management thus far. New management has made some needed changes such as putting free weights and water in the fitness center, updating patio furniture, and more computers in the business center. Covered parking and very safe area. There is always parking available on the street as well. On the weekends it can get a little noisy around the pool area but not enough to keep me from sleeping (apartment faces the pool). Maintenance is fantastic, fixes everything promptly. The apartment could use a renovation, better washer & dryers, and more lighting. Have found 1-2 cockroaches in the apartment but after speaking with several Houstonians, cockroaches are just everywhere in this city. Called management and they sprayed our apartment again (haven't found any since). I don't drink the water here, Houston water is pretty bad. Water bill for my apartment is $20/month and electric bill is $50-65/month.

I was able to move in right away and have excellent service. Everything seems great here and I enjoy living here. It is a lot better than most apartment places you will come across in other states. There are a few bugs but that is life. The location is gerat and safe!

I've lived here for quite some time and before Cindy and Jose had left the company and new ownership had taken over, I was very pleased and satisfied. They returned calls, were prompt with maintenance and pest issues. Now, the staff seems inadequate, incompetent and always confused how rent works or what I ask. When I asked for my water/gas bill, I was told that I will be getting it done separately just like I've always had it. Uh..no..it used to be altogether with my rent statement. I called a few times about some pest or other issues I was needing addressed and no one answered my phone in the mid-afternoon. I left a voice mail message and no response was replied. I had to call again the next day to address what I needed and the girl there was incompetent for understanding that I needed the pest item taken care of. I am after all paying that fee each month. Other than that, my neighbors are somewhat loud and I'm not very happy as I was before. Many people are moving out and I understand why. It's all about money and not taking care of the existing tenants. Sad. Tomas and Maria are the best people still there!

Last night's meet and greet was a really nice touch. It was great to come out and meet new neighbors, the owners and see the beautiful changes going on with the complex. I've been here for almost 6 months now and it took me the longest time to decide on a place to live. I've been pleased with my choice and love the location. I'm looking forward to spending time at the pool area this summer to enjoy the new space. Thank you Tree Tops for sharing the new updates/changes of our hidden oasis.

I would like to give my honest opinion on these apartments. I have lived here a few years now and i love it. I also liked Cindy and jose they were here for a good while. At the same time I think the office staff now are great as well.Sounds like most people here arent giving them a chance which is why I decided to even write a review. Im not too sure what the -------- girls name is but she makes awesome cookies and there is another guy too I havent talk to much yet.. Only thing I dislike is no washer and dryer connections in the apartment. In the long run its a very quite place, i got my own reserved parking spot, and its very secluded. You wont find most of these qualities in an apartment. My lease is coming up and I plan to renew. FYI Cant beat the location..

I agree with the 2 reviews below. I've lived here for a almost 2 years now and Jose and Cindy kept on top of things. With those two making sure that everything was kept in check, this new management can't keep on top of anything. There's a large pile of trash outside the building I have no idea what they plan on doing with this. Doors keep being left open to the building allowing the bugs to get in. The rent was due this month and no invoice was presented, when I asked they said they have not gotten everything together yet just make a check out based on the last few months. I don't know when they planned on telling me this but they almost missed out on my rent! I'm very displeased these new people, they couldn't organize a nun shoot in a nunnery!

I have lived at tree tops for three years and i completely agree with the previous comments. Cindy and Jose really treated everybody here like family which is a lot more than I can say about the current staff. The new management is treating everyone here like a number and the level of service has gone done dramatically. I can say without hesitation that I will not renew my lease with the new greystar management company.

Unfortunately Tree tops has changed since the hoards of wonderful reviews. The past month (March-2013) the management and ownership has changed and subsequently Jose and Cindy have left. It seems as though so has the service. Tree tops was proud to have 97-98% recommendation for years. But this has not followed over with the new owners and management, so far my impressions (in comparison) have left me feeling they are not courteous, with a rather more rude and cutthroat approach to business. We are being treated more like numbers than people. Already I can tell there is a large drop in organisation and professionalism this is clearly being displayed in documentation, advertisement and inside the current office. Since the old staff have left I feel the value for money has severely dropped. Also after having done research into the new manager and owners they have 65% average recommendations. I feel I must write this review in order to warn people of the true reflection of the current level of service provided at this location. I would not recommend this property any longer
