I moved to Bayou Landing straight out of rehab....about six blocks from the house where I grew up. The price was affordable, the apartment spacious and recarpeted, kithchen retiled, painted etc. prior to my move in. All in all it was a pleasurable experience. Management was "johnny-on-the-spot" when called. The grounds were regularly policed but when you have people who have never owned anything, they tend not to be consciencious about throwing things on the ground. I was broken into once through the bathroom window. But I can be thankful all they took was the laptop when all they had to do was open the front door and take the 42" and 20" flatscreens. So for the price, it was a steal. I moved due to the condemnation of the complex after Hurricane Ike to a smaller two bed room a few blocks away. And talking about hell on earth!!! I've been here nearly a month. My stove still doesn't work and the back bedroom light doesn't work. I'd move back as soon as it reopens!!!!!

The roof on my building was torn off, (the one near the Leasing office and the "laundry room) and a lot of water seepage came as a result. When I returned from Ike, the whole building was looted including my apartment. The only two redeeming qualities of the complex was its proximity to UH and it was cheap. Since I and 26 other residents were looted, that should tell you the type of "neighbors" that live there. The other residents are fairly noisy and don't seem to sleep until 4am. Shady characters roam about the complex at all hours of the night, probably looking for/or dealing drugs. If you have a gun and some ammo, you should be fine, but otherwise avoid this place if you live above welfare.

First of all i did not want to move into this apartment. What happened was my brother leased without consulting my opinion and boy what a mistake it was. If are short on money then this place is okay. If not don't live here. The lady in the leasing office is very nice but the problem is the people that actually do the maintenance. Man, roaches the very first day I moved in; the so called pest control service is crap; I only used raid once; and it did a way better job than all the times pest control had come to work n the apartment. Insulation in the apartment very bad; holes near windows and under the front door which also means that all kinds of insects can get into your apartment. The security is not too good. But I was actually surprised when one night i was so tired from my outing that i got home went to sleep and locked my door only to wake up the next morning and found out that i had left my keys outside on the mouth of my door lol but nothing happened; i did not get robbed or jumped. As log as you do not attract attention to yourself you would be relatively safe. But i did not like the fact that the security gate is always open and the small gates have no security on them; anybody can walk through them. The air conditioning systems in all the apartments need to be replaced. The roofs need to be replaced with better quality ones too. When hurricane ike came by the top of my apartment near the rooms began to drip water onto the floor. The roof covering the air conditioning system gave way and water and sand got into the air conditioning system and water got into the apartment that way. Also, there is always some strange guy digging into ppl's trash; it worries me so i throw trash with important documents somewhere else. Also, last I checked tenants are not allowed to have pets while leaving here but there are a couple of ppl breaking this rule and sometimes when one is trying to go to school early in the morning there is pet poop in several places. Ppl with pets should be fined for every time pet poop is seen outside in the apartment complex. And if you are going to UH main campus from here it would be in your best interest to only use the metro bus down there or have some drop you at school then pick you up when you are done. Driving down there and getting a parking spot is a waste of time, gas and money. Also, I could not believe there was no laundry mat inside the apartment complex. And no free high speed internet! That was what made me really hate living here; always looking for an internet signal to use. If all the above listed problems get tackled this apartment complex would get better. But until then I would only suggest living here if you are extremely short on cash

I'm not leaving because I want to but because I have to due to school. The management staff are really friendly and go above and beyond to make sure I'm happy at all times. The maintnance staff also takes good care of all that I have requested to have fixed. I have been living here for 1 1/2 years and it has gotten so much better over time. I see that staff outside all the time making sure the area is clean and well kept. I would hightly recommend this apartments to students or anyone on a budget, yes sure it's not the greatest but for the price i'ts really ideal and well kept. It would look better if people who live there took some responsibilty of their children and pick up after themselves. In my opinion there is only so much management can do!

These "apartments," and I use the term apartments loosely are garbage. Not only are the apartments falling apart, but the staff in the leasing are very unprofessional and poorly trained. The manager ------- has the tendency to hang up the phone in the renter's face when the call the office and make a complaint. If you ever have a problem with anything in your apartment, I strongly recommend that you hire a professional to fix the problem, because if you a waiting on the manager ------- and her assistant, it will be months before they even attempt to have one of the unskilled maintance workers to come and mess it up even more. So if you are looking for an apartment, do not consider Bayou Landing, unless you want to be miserable. Not only that, the apartments are infested with roaches and spiders. Someone needs to come and tear that crap they call an apartment complex down. Thank You

I have lived in this complex for about 3 months now and I am so ready to leave in another 2. Here is the stuff I like about it: I like the actual apartment because it is large and the appliances are pretty new. However, the community is terrible. It's cheap and close to UH. I am a student so that is great. I love walking around Herman park which is about a mile away. To get there I take a nice walking/biking path along the bayou. Here is the stuff I hate: There are always a lot of people outside and it gets very noisy. People are always slowly walking around and standing in the middle of the parking lots. There are a lot of children because all of the apartments are two bedrooms and they are mostly very disrespectful and refuse to move out of the way when I am trying to drive through. There are many fights and I have seen the police in our complex about 5 times(and I am not home very much). I see at least one of my neighbors digging through the trash about every week and I have been asked for change more than once. The gate is usually broken so anyone can come in. I don't feel safe and hate leaving my car in a parking spot I can't see from my apartment. I would not recommend this place for anything other than a short term place. It was ok in a crunch, but I cannot wait to leave

I moved from Dallas to Houston and And saw these aapartments over the internet, they were close by the university and cheap. This had to be the biggest misunderstanding the internet created for me.. Damn this net.. I moved in and stayed for two years, the office staff lost my rent check a total of five times, and locked me out twice because of it. The first apartment, roaches flooded in from our new neighbors nexts door, there were several fights, but the last straw was a crack-head knock on my door after seeing me enter my apartment after work at 2am and ask me for .50 cent. This was just the half of it, prostitution, drug dealers, drug users, fights, and above all crack-heads knocking on your door at 2 am asking for change. NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WILL I EVER MOVE HERE AGAIN.. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!

I am currently living in this place with the lease to end this month. This is the worse place ever. The management is horrible and very undermining. I have had to have my house sprayed for roaches four times and they are still here. Nats are always in my apartment. I have even had a guest staying in here for sevral months (a rat). My toilet over flowed twice in a month time and I was indirectly blamed for it. It took over over three hours for the maintenance to come after I called three times to the emergency maintenance number. I was told by the manager that she did not recieve the first two message. The second time the entire apartment was flooded with about an inch of water. My carpet was change in the living room. In the other two rooms carpet was changed after I informed the poor management that it too was soaked. With this the tub back flowed with sewer water with only about 2" of the tub left to be exposed. When it rains it floods on both sides of the apartment ahead of ours and this is the only way to get to the overcrowded parking lot which has blocks impeded the walway. My mother and grandmother have to get their feet wet because they are unable to jump over a puddle of water about 2 inches deep and 5 inches in length. Management was informed and nothing was done. I failed to mention above that my upstairs neighbor has had 3 rats come to board in his place.

You do not want to live here w or w/o kids. This is by far my worst apt experience ever! Not only are the apartments hideous, they're small and have little to no basic amenities. It's just not a good place to visit, let alone stay.
