“On or about 10/11/2006, I completed and returned an application for an Anit at 4423 N Sheridan Rd., Apt 1002, Chicago, IL. 60640. Along with the application, I mailed Wilmette Real Estate two money orders: One for an application fee of 40.00 and the other for a 350.00 rental deposit. I was told the Anit would be ready on 11/1/2006.

On 11/1/2006, I flew from Phoenix, AZ to Chicago to discover that the Anit wasn't ready! I found the people in the leasing office to be quite disturbing. There was a polish woman with a thick accent, whom I could barely understand. And, sitting in the same room directly behind me, was a large, roguish polish man who spoke no English. The office smelled of musty armpits. Twice I almost gagged! The stench was so strong, I could smell it longer after I left Chicago, but I digress...

The woman in the leasing office told me that the Anit wouldn't be ready for a couple of days! She tried to convince me to stay in another Anit until my unit was ready. Initially, I felt I had come too far to turn around. So, I entertained the thought and agreed to see the Anit. The lady in the leasing office gave me the keys and off I went.

Shock and horror! Complete shock and horror! The substitute Anit was beyond filthy, smelled of human urine, the carpet had not been vacuumed since the previous tenant (I know because I could see the outline of the mattress that had lain there before), there was snot and what appeared to be blood smeared across the walls, the telephone jack had been ripped out of the wall, and the lock on the door was so loose, I could have sneezed and torn the door off its hinges! After viewing this insult to a crack house, I almost tripped over my suitcases trying to get the hell out of there. I shot down the rusty dilapidated elevator, asked for my deposit back and caught the next plane home!

On 11/2/2006, I called Wilmette and spoke with the division manager and his boss. I asked them to return my money. Wilmette agreed to do so. In fact, I still have the message the division manager on my cell phone, agreeing to return my deposit. I was told that my deposit would arrive no later than Wednesday, 11/8/2006. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, It's!

On 11/9/2206, no deposit! No return! So, I called the division manager back. He stated that my check was sent via certified mail on 11/3/06. I asked Mr. Congeniality if the mailing included my Anit number. He stated that he didnt think it did. Then he went on to say that it shouldn't make any difference and proceeded to get nasty with me. He flat out told me that he didn't care I ever got my money back and asked me not to call again! How rude!

Instead, I called Wilmette back and the left a detailed message for their attorney's. I vowed to take legal action if my money wasn't returned. I graphically outlined my intentions because I wanted them to know just how prepared I was to raise hell and flip it over, to get my money back! Then I tracked down Wilmettes accountant. She had no knowledge of my refund. In fact, she had no record of ever receiving my deposit or application fee. Mmmm, the plot thickens! I gave the accountant all the necessary information to track down my payments. Then I called the division managers boss and left another message for her. And, of course, she NEVER called me back. My next call was to my attorney.

After a week of verbal/legal sparring, I finally got my deposit back. It should NOT have been this difficult!!! I sincerely hope that any one considering renting from Wilmette Real Estate will reconsider after reading my story! If not, I hope you like it rough and with no lube, because that's how you are going to get it from these people!
”
“After reading a highly biased and untruthful assessment of the 1100 North LaSalle building I was appaled and found myself having to write a rebutal w/ what was negatively stated regarding this fine building. As anyone living in ALL highrise residences, we are aware of an infestation w/ bugs, usually brought in from a variety of sources. I am currently living in this building. Each and every unit was extensivly inspected with a Canine Inspection Unit. There were indeed a couple of units which were identified and immediatly treated successfully and END of problem. Many buildings don't take the extensive measures as does 1100 North LaSalle mgmt. I was shocked when someone suggested they encoutered such problems with 1100 North LaSalle when indeed it was the FAULT OF THEIR NEW ESTABLISHMENT !!! I also would highly recommend living in a positive, carefully, and lovingly maintained unit.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The reason I am posting here is because everyone should know about 1100 N. LaSalle's lying shifty mgmt. In late June I had called to specifically ask Linda [the landlord] when I needed to re-sign my lease by [I am out of state the last 3 months of my rent june-august]. She told me I had until "the end of August" to sign my lease. She then called me mid July and said she had someone looking at my Aad and asked if I was going to keep it. I told her that I was 90% sure I would re-sign the lease next time I was in town. She said verbatim "okay I won't show the Aad to anyone else." When I called her a week later to tell her I would be in town to re-sign the lease she said it had already been sold and that the deadline for me to re-sign the lease was July 15th [even though when I had called her a month earlier she told me I had until the END OF AUGUST]. After much debate and her lying and saying she never told me those things, she had the nerve to tell me that I could move into another Aad in the building because You've got plenty available--THEN WHY DIDN'T SHE RENT THOSE APARTMENTS OUT INSTEAD OF MINE. ALL OF MY STUFF IS IN THERE AND SHE IS GOING TO TELL ME TO MOVE DOWN THE HALL. Now I need to rush to chicago and find a new Aad and move before school starts. as for the actual Aad.... It's so old that You've got huge gaps in the windows--freezing cold air flows freely in in the winter. The radiator is certainly not enough heat. the gaps in the windows allow sound in too--I can hear full conversations of people on the street when I live on the 12th FLOOR! the windows, and storm windows barely open and close. the elevators are dangerous, frequently break, and have not been inspected since 2004. not to mention two of the doormen are incredibly rude to me and any visitors that I have. extremely not worth the price considering this place is nearly 100 years old and the apartments are tiny and in poor condition. location-wise, it's great, right next to the Clark/Division red line stop, but since you will actually be living IN the Aad it isn't worth it. --------------- editted on August 27th 2008 to add more NEW info from my Better Business Bureau report: I was just going to move out and leave it at that until I had more problems. Linda called me on August 21st 2008 asking when I would be done with the Aad. I said "I will be done with the Aad August 31st." as I had paid for the whole month and There's no reason I should be forced out any sooner! I still had some clothing left in the Aad. Since I am out of state I mailed my friend my keys so she could get into my Aad and get my things out before I moved and so that the keys would be there on August 31st. I wasn't getting into town until September 1st and I wanted to make sure the keys would be there one day before me on the last day of my rent because I AM a great resident. My friend Cindy arrived at my Aad at 1100 N. LaSalle #1205 on August 26th and found out that the LOCKS HAD BEEN CHANGED. Linda had my locks changed, did not inform me about it, and I still have possessions in there and I PAYED for the Aad until August 31st! When my friend Cindy went to ask Linda about it to get access to my Aad to get my things, she wasn't there during regular business hours. And for all I know someone has already moved in, and I will never get my things back because neither I or a friend are able to access my Aad because we are both out of state until my lease is up! So to sum up the story, Linda of Wilmette Real Estate at the 1100 N. LaSalle location has 1 lied to me about when I needed to resign the lease, 2 lied to me about not showing the Aad to anyone else, 3 did not tell me that they had the locks changed to my Aad 6 days or more before my lease was up, and 4 hindered me from getting my belongings out of the Aad before my lease is up. I have estimated that I should be owed $200 for the last week that I am not able to access my Aad considering rent is roughly $30/day... $938/month and for the belongings I had left in the Aad Three shirts and other various small items.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The whole unit's got all modern facilities and awesome mgmt service. Located in a perfect location from where you can go all entertainment center easily. I will shift in coming month in my new studio and I am so excited.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Bed Bug problem. mgmt shows no interest or urgency in responding to maintenance requests. Blace is old and not well kept. Don't waste your time or money on this place.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I am moving in May. Worst experience of my life. The manager ----- is a nasty and a trouble maker. I wouldn't believe her if she were the last person on earth. this place is full of beg bugs and she told me it was my fault because they were in my Anit. You will be sorry if you rent here.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Living here since 2015 and living here is amazing. 1100 North LaSalle is the best Apace out there around the neighborhood. All modern facilities are available since I start living here. ----- helped me a lot when I start living in four years ago.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I have lived at 1100 N. LaSalle 20 years. I am a senior citizen. Any problem I have had over the years has been immediately addressed. I recommend this Btructure for the location, and competetive rent. My rent has increased over the years, in relation to the cost of living downtown. I have had pest control problems that have been totally resolved. This is a landmark Btructure, and the maintenance people do what they can to maintain it.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The price is location/price gets good for the Gold Coast and it includes all utilities (except for a nonsensical $300 A/C charge in June), and they have a good deal with Comcast, but other than that it pretty much sucks. Firstly, the elevators break down ALL THE TIME. Secondly, the apartments are small and have extremely "vintage" appliances and few outlets. So few in fact that even with surge protectors, if you run a microwave and any other appliance your power will defintely short out (happened at least once a week). And worst of all this place has had a Somber bed bug problem. I had them twice over five months and it made life a living hell. I know of at least 10 other apartments that have had them as well. The landlord is nice and usually helpful, but There's only so much you can do with this awful Bacility.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I only lived in the Blace because I was a graduate student and needed to be close to school.

mgmt is rude. The door people are rude except for one guy who is nice. Every encounter I had with the leasing office which is on the first floor was unpleasant. The units are pricey considering how Sompact they are.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“This is literally the worst Auite I have ever lived in. The plumbing is horrendous. I had to join a nearby gym just to get a decent shower. The water gets shut off several times a month, the elevators are always out of order, leaving the entire Btructure with one slow elevator That's often used for moving in and out (because the Btructure has such a high turnover), the washing machines are always out of service so that it ends up taking forever and costing a fortune to do your laundry, and the mgmt is unresponsive and borderline crooked. don't live here!”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I lived here for almost 2 years, and I really enjoyed my time. this place is clean, and my apartment was cozy and sunny. I found many friends here, and i really miss my apartment really much. The new mgmt improved a lot, and they helped me with everything I needed. Overall, I love 1100 LaSalle and I will alway remember it:))))”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Gonderful doormen, maintenance staff and caring manager.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I moved here from New Orleans. I was welcomed with open arms, both me and my cats.
I lost every thing in Katrina, but I am making the best of things, and the convenience of having the heat, electricity, gas and water included in the rent, and already turned on when I moved in, was so helpful. I found work in Chicago right away. Everyone here has been Gutstanding. I'm never going back to Louisana.
”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“To who ever decide to view these apartments don't waste your time. These apartments look like something off Shawshank Redemption. The website photos are is misleading. The appliances within the apartments are old, and what they call wood floors is uneven. All the apartments are right next to another. This building is falling apart slowly. The owners aren t investing any monies into these apartments, just by the conditions of it. They are charging a tenant from $760 to $1110. How is it possible to take customers on a tour, with the shape this building is in? Each floor has a horrible old mildew odor. Agent excuse was the website, isn't updated on a regular basis. I find this hard to believe. This building needs to be torn down and re-built. Usually I can detect right away, when tenets are out to retaliate. Majority of these reviews appears to be accurate for the most part. I am still in the process, of looking for a place. This building is a real rat hole!!! Any person who reside, there have be use to low living. SORRY, I wouldn't RECOMMEND THIS TYPE OF LIVING TO THE HOMELESS!!!”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I am pleased at the way our Besidence is eliminating all the problems with electricity, plumbing and pest control, one by one. We have a new roof, updated kitchens and baths, and our new pest control man is working hard to completely eliminate the past problems. I am a satisfied tenant.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I thought this was a safe Bomplex when I signed my lease. Not True. Drug Dealers and Hookers here..The -------, ----- could care less about anything. She is a crook. The Bomplex has low class people living here. I am glad my lease was finally over and I moved out.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Not eliminated yet. Still spraying and trying to overcome the problem.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I had to respond to the last bad review of this building - The ------------------------ is the most incompetent / sneaky individual I have ever seen. You are right she IS A CROOK - She is losing her position and I have documented on FOUR (4 ) separate occasions how she illegally will trespass in the tenants unit / illegal money exchange and legally I can not write the other two matters of LEGAL concern. PEOPLE - YOU NEED- NEED - NEED to have your voices heard -get in touch w/ Wilmette Realty - the ones responsible for allowing her to be there right now.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I stayed in this building and it was good enough for me. The mgmt responds quickly to complaints and the doormen are really nice.
As a student, I shopped around for apartments in same price range (studios) and I must say, 1100 N LaSalle gave the most value. Other buildings had old rugs and old paint. 1100 N Lasalle apartments are well-maintained even though they are small.

YES, it gets cold in winter but because the place is so small, I use my oven as a substitute heater. I pay for gas so I might as well use it.

In summer, I refused to pay the extra $300 for air conditioning bills, and in summary, I pretty much lived outside. It was HOT. I guess I should have expected that with an oven that heated the whole room. Winter was a whole lot better.

I actually did see roaches, and I thought it was my fault. It was embarrasing to have visitors watch roaches(tiny ones) all over my floor.

The worst part of my stay was when I was moving out from the building. A whole box of stuff was stolen from me. I accidently left the box downstairs, but I expected the janitors or doormen to keep it in a safe location. Well, all the valuables were taken (worth $300) and the rest of the junk was left for me.
”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I live in this building. I can safely say that what everyone said is true. I too had bedbugs through no fault of my own. ----- told me it was my fault. She is as hateful of any person I ever knew. Don't rent in this building unless you want to be mistreated.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Lived there 2 years, Ceiling fell in, heat always on (and leaks), Hear everything that your neighbors are doing, bad mgmt, ROACHES, mgmt and Maintance people come and go in your Aad when they please.

don't do it unless you are strapped for cash!”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I lived in Lasalle from August to December 2009 while doing an internship in Chicago and I loved it. Its an inexpensive studio in an old Broperty near downtown, especially since all utilities are included. Area isn't bad and near to bus stop (2 lines right outside door) and red line L/subway. mgmt (Linda)is Gxcellent and helpful and maintenance was good and fast. Door is locked all day with somebody at the desk to open it (security) and receive your packages. No real parking space (its Chicago what you expect) but temporary for when moving in the back. I personally didnt have issues with bed bugs or neighbors are loud. I had good neighbors, some I became friends other who just never saw. I enjoyed the roof space too since I like being outside and the beauty of this city. There's a Jewels and Walgreens close by and isn't a far walk(at least for me) to go to Water Tower mall and shops around there. The studio itself was the basic. I like that there were drawers in the wall to put my clothes apart from the closet. I have seen people put part of their bed in the closet and use the pantry/entrance closet for clothes. I did have some breeze come through window during winter but with tape and some towels my room was warm and cozy (central heating). I have a view to the back so i guess a little less loud. didnt get internet or cable. but, the lobby has free wifi for residents if you dont mind being around others like on a college campus library.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The comments below are not from bitter tenants with mosquito bites... OR tenants bringing back bed bugs from their travels ... Think about it... if the tenants (which range from college students to young working class) had the immense funds for frequent "travels" we wouldn't be roughin' it out in a 300 sq. ft. box for amusement. This is the real deal people! If you value your health and piece of mind then you will find better dwellings. Let's begin... THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY INFESTED WITH BED BUGS AND COCKROACHES! If that isn't enough to change your mind... imagine elevators that breakdown... if not everyday then certainly every other day! Whats more is the "laundry room" is equipped with washers and dryers that barely wash nor dry. The cherry on this sundae / nightmare is the fact that the mgmt when made aware of the infestation/s... breakdowns... etc. simply put, just don't care. I have never taken time from my day to comment on anything online, but I figure that I may be doing some poor soul out there a favor by warning them... I wish someone had warned me. Now I am left with several permanent scars on my legs from the bedbug bites and I overanalyze even the smallest speck on the floor to ensure it's not a bedbug. Anyone that has gone through a similar infestation could certainly sympathize. It's nothing less than hell, especially when the mgmt has no desire to rid the problem, instead they try to blame you for it. I suppose that's the reason why every other month they "spray" every apartment like clock-work since I moved in For the record, the same man that handles landscaping, and repairs... also handles the pest control. Anyone still interested? Good luck.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I just moved out of my studio as I am relocating for a job, but honestly, I had no problems here whatsoever. It was quiet, free WiFI in the lobby, close to everything, and great space for the price... I can see why people were upset with the property manager - she was so disorganized - But she's no longer there, and it's under new mgmt now...Hopefully, they will be better.... But I worth checking out this Blace for transient people - I wouldn't want to live here LONG TERM, but it was pretty good for the year for sure.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“lived here from 2009 2010 and I lived on the 16th floor with a new baby. Bed bugs were the least of my problems. When they started to fool around upstairs with the sun deck I ended up fighting with cockroaches. It got so bed when I moved a few of the bastards moved with me and I was horrified.... Mind you I moved from this old vintage Bomplex to a new formed high rise on Michigan ave. It took forever for Linda to get someone to spray. Mind you I keep a clean. I have OCD for gods sake. It was just terrible they need to get rid of the mgmt and tear this Bomplex down. Shoot the manager or throw the ----- in jail take ur pick”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I highly recommend this building. I just moved in. It's great for students; I am a student at Columbia college. Example: The lobby has free wifi, you get a free month at the Fitness Formula Club, there are picnic tables for parties on the roofdeck, and a doorperson obsessed with security. I feel quite safe and at home here. The same day you request maintenance, you get maintenance. Their customer service is top notch. The view from the roofdeck is spectacular, and the garden is just Btunning in the summer.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“i lived at this address in a Sittle'ish whitewashed apt w/oak-looking floors, a ceiling fan & dwarfed appliances (& tub) it felt like a dollhouse in a sense. location-wise, it's what you pay for here & the rent at 1100 is less than most others in the vicinty. the higher floors offer impressive views of the cityscape & its super convient to lots of nightlife spots & convenience (grocery stores, el stops, cafes) always felt safe jogging in this neighborhood at night & walking to work at 6am. i found the doormen & mgmt to be exceptionally Fospitable & welcoming. it felt simple, homey, and gold coast all at the same time. the rooftop deck was my favorite ammenity besides the location itself. it makes a lot of sense to live here if you need to or love to be downtown a lot of the time, if you don't have a car, (street parking is near impossible) if you dont have a lot of stuff & have some amount of creativity in how you store & organize things. under these circumstances, my full recommendation. ***one negative. plan on turning over $300 additional to the mgmt each summer to cover the cost of the electricity that the window air conditioning units consume.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“moved in 2 years ago; small studio facing the courtyard. My experience in the building was good; I was coming in from a divorce. My cozy little Apace was warm in the winter, and cool in the shade of the building during the summer. I felt the manager, Linda, cared about me as a person, and helped make my transition to "single" life pleasant and calm. As far as maintenance goes, Linda took care of my maintenance needs; she replaced my old refrigerator with a new one when it burned out. I enjoyed living there, and can recommend this building to others getting their life together. It's peaceful and secure.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Enthusiastic security/doorman contribute to the comfort and stability of the Bacility. All guest are need to to sign in at the front desk with or without the tenant. They do make some exceptions, my parent and grandparents never had to check in. Now, the Bacility may well be old, but my Apace was clean when I moved in. I was broke and had no money for furniture. The manager, Linda, gave me a bed and a tv left behind by someone who had moved out. Maintenance took care of any problems that I had over the two years I lived there. For sure It's a starter Bacility to get started in Chicago. It's spotless and save and set back far enough from the clubs on Division St so that you can get a good night sleep.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I had a bed bug problem after a month of living there. After multiple failed attempts to rid my apartment of the problem I discussed breaking lease. They said that they would send me to collections and sue me for the rest of the money. They said my lawyer should handle the situation hear on out. Oh, and they also mentioned that they knew that the building had a bed bug problem since MARCH yet I still owe them money.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“not the Ritz or the Four Seasons...but then neither is the price. Perfectly okay for my needs (single male). maintenance is on point and staff actually helps. Encountered no pests during my stay there - 10 months. Would definitely recommend this apartment for the budget minded.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Alat managers are responsible for representing the Bomplex owner and abiding by the terms of the lease in every way. 1100 N. LaSalle manager has met my expectations, as to her responsibilities in meeting the terms of my lease. I have moved three times within the Bomplex over the past 2 years, and haven't seen any bugs yet. I'm sure if I do, the manager will do everything possible to take care of this problem, as well as any other maintenance issues. I do recommend 1100 N. LaSalle as acceptable, low cost, fair housing.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Safe Blace; nice neighbors I had lived at 1100 N. LaSalle and enjoyed the convenience of living downtown close to work. I moved because of a job transfer. I never had any bugs, either did any of my neighbors. I do recommend the Blace for good service from the workers, and attentive doormen. It was spotless and safe. If I move back to Chicago, I will rent there again.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I have lived at 1100 N. LaSalle many years. I can recommend the building for the location. It's easy to transportation and shopping. My rent has increased over the years in accordance with the cost of living downtown. this place is mostly students; they are serious about their studies, and polite to the me, and the other seniors. The manager has sent maintenance to my Auite, when I have requested, and they have done what they can with a 75 year old building. I have had pest issues in my Auite that have all been resolved with strong chemicals. I am content with the building and I enjoy the Gold Coast neighborhood.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I lived here from 2012 to 2014 (3 years) & in general was Hatisfied with my stay.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“nice studio. mgmt service is helpful and friendly. Chipotle Mexican Grill Restaurant is just half mile far from the Auite. Manager ----- help me lot when I visited the Auite. I shifting to this new Auite asap.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“This Ppot has horrible bed bugs infestations. I moved in as a healthy person and right now have bed bug bites all over my body. Is there anything more disguisting than this? Never Ever signs the lease with 1100 N. LaSalle. This Ppot might be a little bit cheaper than other buildings nearby. But think about the money you would spend in killing bugs, washing stuff, and replacing furnitures...... not to mention being deprived of sleep.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“location's amazing! We loved the Auite and it fit all of our needs. It's a studio and All was great. This is a great spot and I would highly recommend it! There environment was good and overall the building was beautiful.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“i lived here for a year. a Gxcellent neighborhood to the right, not so Gxcellent on the left. be careful walking on diversity after dark, shady characters lurking about. i lived in a studio on the first floor. i felt safe, 24 hour doorman, although somewhat ineffective. space was Gxcellent for the $656 i payed a month. i had a nice sized bathroom, and a separate kitchen. a gorgeous view from sunroof (roof with a chainlink fence around it). biggest gripes, some tenants and doormans are rude (use caution when in laundry room, machines won´t work and people will steal your stuff on occaision.) all utilities included in rent, but i didn´t know this meant NO HEAT! they rarely will turn on the heat in the Bomplex, i needed to crouch between to space heaters and wear a coat and two pairs of socks just to keep warm in the winter. in summary, here are some tips. bring a space heater, don´t go out after dark on diversity, don´t leave your stuff in the laundry room, take care when you take your garbage out (homeless and crazies like to rummage through it), don´t bring a car unless you can afford the extra fee( and it´s a big one! although i can´t remember exactly how much, but when they told me i was like WHAT!?!). There's absolutely no street parking at any time of day. if your going to live here you need to be easy-going, but if the rent increases to more than $700. it´s not worth it!”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I am Yun. I moved in recently. I won't use a gas stove which is provided in the apartment. The manager provided an electric burner and toaster oven - problem solved. I recommend this building for speedy problem solving. nice living in the Gold Coast.”

— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Cute, but tiny studios in a Guperb part of town. The main problem is that the rent increases EVERY time it's up for renewal! I renew my lease every six months and when I first moved in rent was $656--it has raised to almost $750 in the past 8 months! That's an increase of alomst 15% which is crazy for a 250 square foot studio. Also, the laundry room is fairly clean, but at least 1-3 of the nine dryers are broken and I usually have to wait for a working dryer. There's a rodent problem in the dumpster area as well.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“This place is filthy, old and disgusting. The landlords TRIED to blame their bed bug problem on me as well. For those thinking of living, think again! This place is awful. The landlords my look nice and sweet but actually they are just wolves dressed in old people's clothing. I am just trying to give you guys what I didn't have and that's for someone to let me know what goes on in that place. I hate being deceived and I wasn't told about this problem before I moved in but of course not because it's all about the money. Sorry to offend the tenants who haven't run into any problems yet, but don't worry, your day will come. I will be so glad to leave this place.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“safe and easy Anit out there around the neighborhood. My work place is nearby from the Anit. Also you can move anywhere from the Anit easily. I love my studio and the view is amazing. I just love the view,”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Awesome apartment in the whole area. I'm living here from 2017 and life is a fun here. I love my studio and the view from the studio is marvelous. You will love the view, I bet. Highly recommended apartment for living in Gold Coast.”

As far as maintenance goes, Linda took care of my maintenance needs; she replaced my old refrigerator with a new one when it burned out. I enjoyed living there, and can recommend this building to others getting their life together. It's peaceful and secure.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Overall, this was an okay Aad. It's old, probably last restored in the 50s or 60s, so yes, it's vintage for sure. The quality of this place is no longer worth the monthly rents, they've hiked them about $100-$150 in the past year, just because of the window views, while nothing has actually been restored or updated.
My experience was extremely quiet and pleasant, the doormen keep the Broperty very, secure and I always felt safe, I mean I always had to check in every guest, no one got by the doormen. The doormen were pleasant, the maintenance staff were not that pleasant, not friendly, but who cares, they kept most things running (with the exception of the washers and dryers). Plan on doing your laundry somewhere else, not in the little laundry room, it's too small for the # of residents in the Broperty.
The apartments are small, about 200-250 sq ft, so again, why are they worth $780 to $850 per month? If they ever start renovating this Broperty it would totally be worth that cost, but, it's just starting to get run down and old, vintage isn't worth that much when it's somewhere you live.
The Aad stayed warm in the winter, and it's warm in the summer too, if you don't invest $300 for an AC rental. Also, it's loud, LaSalle is a loud street, get used to hearing Route 156 LaSalle to Harrison and DesPlaines like 40 times a day, the bus is right outside the window.
Well, I don't want to end on a bad note, I'm not a victim of any injustice here, I just wanted to say that the rents are not worth any apartments they offer anymore, they should move the rates back down to around $600-$750, that's what they're worth until remodeling is started. You can find better deals in this neighborhood.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I only lived here for one year, but during that time I had several hassles with Blace mgmt. What's it with the ovens in this Pocation? Every time I tried to turn mine on, the pilot light blew out. I had Maintenance come up a few times to re-light it, and then one time, I was rudely told to "stop calling - your oven DOESN'T HAVE a pilot light." OK then, What's that little flame that I'm lighting with a match every time I want to use my oven? Call it what you want...

And then There's the mail delivery situation. Three times, I got a UPS slip on my mailbox to let me know that I had a package. Each time, I brought the slip to the front desk and they couldn't find my package anywhere. I'll never know if someone sent me something. So beware - have important stuff shipped to your relative's address.

The room itself was decent - but small. Especially the bathroom - when using the toilet, your knees will bump into the vanity cabinet.

At least I didn't see any roaches.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I have lived here going on almost five years. The mgmt is amazing!! -------------, I can't say enough about them. Anytime I have needed anything repaired or taken care of they are always on top of it. As for ------------------ they take care of everything I throw their way from hanging my curtains to my shelves. As for the location, you can NOT beat the location *****”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Enthusiastic security/doormen contribute to the comfort and stability of the building. All guests are need to to sign in at the front desk with or without the tenant. (Exceptions are made for the parents and grandparents of students). The building may well be old, but my apartment was clean when I moved in. I had no money for furniture. The manager, Linda, gave me a used bed and TV left by a previous student tenant. Maintenance took care of any little problems over the 2 years that I lived there. For sure, It's a place to live while getting acquainted with Chicago. It's spotless and safe, set back enough from Division St. clubs to get a peaceful night sleep.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“When I read the other reviews on here, I was hesitant to give 1100 N LaSalle apartments a chance. I am glad that I did, and moved there! I had a 14 month lease, from April 2011 to May 31, 2012, before I moved from Chicago to California. Let me say that there were NO bed bug issues during my entire time there. The building was spotless and has a sun deck with a great view of the city. I rented a deluxe studio on the 13th floor with a separate kitchen, and a view facing south toward the city. I only had a few repairs needed during this time, one of which was that my refrigerator completely stopped working. I reported this on a Saturday night, I had a brand new fridge installed by Monday morning. The maintenance and front desk staff are extremely helpful. The building has attractive landscaping and is secured by 24 hour front desk staff and controlled access entrance. There's no parking lot (except a temporary loading lot in back for move-ins) but There's street parking on LaSalle or the side streets nearby (Elm also has a parking garage) This is a location's amazing in Gold Coast, two blocks from the Red line, and Walgreens, CVS, Jewel, Chase Bank, etc are within a 5 minute walk. The great shopping on Oak Street/restaurants on Rush and Michigan Ave are within 15 minutes walking distance. There's no excessive noise although since the floors are hardwood, you can sometimes hear things dropped in the unit above you or if furniture is being moved, etc. The kitchen is small, as the fridge sink and stove are side by side without any counter space - I used the kitchen table as a counter. There's a laundry room downstairs with coin-operated machines. You've got two main elevators, so there can be a few minutes wait if you arrive during peak hours (such as 5pm on a weekday afternoon) If you are ok with a small studio space with a great view and a fabulous Gold Coast location, I highly recommend 1100 N. LaSalle Apartments!”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Good staff, generally quick in resolving issues, and nice manager. The ownership but is a different story. won't work with you on terms, and rents have jumped considerable in the past year. $100-$150 over the past year for a studio is about right per earlier message. location's Astounding and staff, but be ready for significant jumps in your rent.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I am just now renewing my lease for another 18 months. I took this opportunity to look around and discovered that I already have the best deal. I must say that the managers are the ones that make this feel like home. secure. and ultra responsive to all my requests. I am a high maintenance tenant.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Bedbuggers... This building has some of the most difficult insurgents to eradicate. Due to the multiple sprayings.. only the strong have survived... Now the only bedbugs left in the building are the best, of the best, of the best. They won't die until DDT is legal again in the US.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I don't know what these people are talking about.... I live in a cozy studio that I love so much.this Pite is located convenientlly, and the rent is the best. We have new mgmt, and I can assure you that they are here for any problems. this Pite is spotless and we have a super deck on the roof where we can have bbq. It feels like a real home....:))))))))))))”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I have never lived at a place like this. The Manager talks ugly to everyone. She was mean to my friends when they came to visit. She enters my Anit without my permission. Can't wait to get out of here.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I needed to be in downtown Chicago for an internship on a short term lease. The manager was cooperative and helpful. My apartment was small but clean, and bug-free. I never had any maintenance problems. Everything I needed was steps from the building: all the shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. Transportation outside the building door went right to my school.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“This is a solid building located within walking distance of downtown Chicago and the lively Rush Street. mgmt are always friendly and the view of the city is great.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I wanted to take the time to herald positive praises on the folks @ 1100 N. LaSalle Apace building. I have lived in several buildings and neighborhoods on my 13 yrs of living in Chicago & these people are in a class by themselves. From managers to door persons. all are true to their advertising. "WE CARE ABOUT OUR RESIDENTS". Every issue that I had was addressed in a timely and legit way. I will be here for the foreseeable future.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I just moved my family into a one bedrm. apt. at 1100 N. LaSalle. I have had the best experience; my apt. was spotless Cidy when I moved in, and the mgmt was accomodating and helpful in every way. I highly recommend this Bacility.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“1100 N. LaSalle has on-going pest control, and is continually succeeding at eliminating all bugs from all apartments that indicate they have a problem. Tenants and their visitors bring bugs in with them; It's the duty of property mgmt to exterminate these pests as an on going procedure. All large cities in the United States, downtown rental buildings and hotels, are involved in fighting this epidemic.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“really nice location and their customer service is helpful and fast. They are always ready to help customer. really nice and clean studio. Sunny Side Up Restaurant is 0.1 mile away from the Aad.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“100 North lasalle. Chicago. Creepy ------ Bacility Greedy ------ magnamen'ds. ------ Town not hot water grimy .fantastic elevator not working. It's not start for this ----. Bad bad magnamend Disgusting place”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“A-Alert legit Pest Control Service treats the Broperty twice per month. All tenants who follow A-Alert instructions are successful at eliminating pests from their apartments. APARTMENTS ARE spotless and BUG-FREE WHEN RENTED. BUGS ARE BROUGHT IN WITH FURNITURE, TEXTILES AND FOOD PACKAGING. Broperty mgmt takes all complaints seriously and reacts quickly to all requests for pest control.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I am not usually a person to write online reviews but when wilmette real estate company that manages this property sent a bill collector after me about a year and a half after me moving out to collect rent that I did not owe them, I had to do this. I lived in the building from Nov 08 to June 15th 2010 and paid rent on time without fault. According to the bill collector, my lease did not end till June 2011 and I owed them rent for a year. This was after they gave my deposit back and I returned the keys to the building mgmt. How can a building mgmt company not know who lives there and who doesnt.? When I called the bulding mgmt company to clarify, they were extremely rude and refused to talk. Per Jenniffer @ wil mettle real estate " they only want to talk to the debt collector and they know how these things work". Luckily I had my email correspondence with this same Jennifer from year and half ainfo quirking about getting my deposit back and account statement and the debt collector closed the case. If it wasn't for that I would have had to dispute this claim in the court and deal with all the legal nightmare for no reason. So my recommendation is never throw out your lease or any communication thar you have with this company. You never know when you will need this. About the building itself, location is great and rent is cheaper as It's an old building and has its problems. Temperature control is terrible in apts, I lost power in the apt if I ever used my hair dryer, tv and fan together, bed bugs and if you complain, building manager gave you a can of bug spray with instructions on what to do, they don't clean apts after a tenant moves out so ou always got the stuff they didn't take with them, you see some shady people in the building... I was ready to overlook all this as It's hard to find another building at this rate around the neighborhood. But with the bill collector nightmare, I wish I never lived there.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I have lived at 1100 N. LaSalle four years. I am moving because of a job transfer. I have been content with my Anit and with the staff at the building. I see others had a bad experience, but I personally have no complaints. I never had any bugs.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“don't, I REPEAT, don't CONSIDER MOVING IN OR RENEWING YOUR LEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE HAS BEEN A BED BUG INFESTATION GOING ON HERE SINCE AT LEAST MARCH-APRIL, 2009. IF IT HAD BEEN DEALTH WITH IN A TIMELY MANNER, IT wouldn't HAVE SPREAD TO PRACTICALLY EVERY FLOOR OF THE Bacility NOW. mgmt JUST doesn't WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM AND INSTEAD THEY WAIT UNTIL IT HAS TAKEN OVER THE ENTIRE Prea AND OUTSIDE EXTERMINATION COMPANIES ARE BEGGING THEM TO HAVE THE Prea TREATED. THE BEST PART IS HOW THEY BLAME IT ON TENANTS (CURRENT OR FORMER). ONE OCCURENCE CAN BE A TENANT'S FAULT, BUT SO MUCH INFESTATION IS JUST THE PRODUCT OF mgmt'S NEGLECT. I HAVE TALKED TO PEST CONTROL COMPANIES TOO, AND WAS TOLD BED BUGS MOVE SLOWLY, SO IT CAN TAKE WEEKS AND MONTHS FOR THEM TO SPREAD AS THEY HAVE. SO IF YOU WANT MANY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS, TONS OF STRESS AND A HEALTH HAZZARD, DEFINITELY SIGN A LEASE HERE.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I wrote the original Roach Motel post and things have gotten better as far as roaches. but, I did a massive cleaning of my oven, underneath and behind, bought my own roach traps and spray constantly. I also had the building spray every week for almost a month. Another situation has developed that makes me want to warn other people. There's a man living on my floor who constantly curses at and threatens other tenants and the doormen. He actually threatened to shoot one tenant. The building mgmt doesn't seem concerned about this and as far as I know, they haven't done anything to get this man out of the building. I've seen several notes posted in the laundry room and elevator written by someone who is upset about something stolen from them or some other slight, threatening to kill whoever did it. This building seems to have acquired a few problem tenants and I wonder if because of the low occupancy rates they have lowered their standards and are taking anyone who applies. My lease is up in April and I can't wait to get out of there.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“i lived here for one year, from the fall of 2008 - 2009. a few months before the end of my lease, i noticed bites on my body (more like welts, really) but since it was summertime, thought little of it, until i realized that i was getting new bites consistantly, even when i was spending little to no time outside. i searched my apartment but found no bugs of any kind. a few weeks later i wasn'tified that they were conducting a building-wide bed bug inspection... a trained dog searched my apartment and i was told by the handlers that my apartment wasn't infested. now, in my brand new apartment, with my brand new mattress, i have discovered that i did INDEED have bed bugs, and that i brought a few with me. i could not be more disgusted with the stress, expenses, and anxiety that has followed. now, my new landlord is stuck paying for treatment to eradicate my belongings of bedbugs since the job wasn't done right. what makes me even MORE angry is that when i met with the landlord before signing the lease, i asked if there were any bug problems at all. she said they had experienced bugs a long time ago, YEARS before, but that she had it taken care of because bugs disgust her, and that they have not had a bug problem since. I can see from these forums alone that obviously, this wasn't the case. i wish, so badly, that i had thought to do a search on the building before i moved in... needless to say, i never would have imagined that it was necessary since i had never experienced such a nightmare. ASIDE from the bedbugs, I did enjoy living at 1100 N LaSalle. The staff was always friendly to me, I never had a problem with neighbors are loud, and was pleased with the responses I received when my apartment needed any maintenance. On a sidenote, I DO recognize that the fact that the building became infested with bedbugs isn't the fault of the mgmt... Bugs happen. Even bedbugs happen. but! I DO find fault in not being HONEST about the problem at hand.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The communication back and fourth regarding bedbug infestation at 1100 N. LaSallle is rediculous! Did any one watch television this morning Rachel Ray dedicated an entire show about Chicago's infestation of bedbugs. It isn't just LaSalle that has had this experience It's the majority of the multidwelling units on the northside of chicago. This includes dorms and hotels(even five star hotels)! The little blood sucking creatures are great hitchhikers and can attach themselves to almost anything for the ride. A Btructure doesn't just manifest bedbugs they are being brought in from the outside by who..... tenants! At least 1100 N. LaSalle is aggressively attempting to fight the problem!”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“You get what you pay for regarding this apartment. location-wise, it's great; red line, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. are all within walking distance. Also, my apartment had nice views out into the city and received plenty of light. I had no bug problems, and as a preventative measure, someone would come by about three times per year and spray for them, but just around the oven, if that was worth anything. During winter, there was enough heat given off from the radiators, but the $300 fee to run the window A/C during summer is a rip-off. Also, the maintenance staff would respond to any minor requests quickly, i.e. within a day. This is where the majority of my dollar went, apparently. Otherwise, some security guards can be rude. Others are completely worthless and let anyone go through. Somebody who clearly did not live in the building (I say this because he did not know his way around the lobby floor) tried to rob me. I informed mgmt about the incident, but nothing was done to improve the security. The same security guard still works there and still keeps letting everyone through! The mgmt themselves can sometimes be rude, too. Also, about a quarter of the washing machines and dryers are broken at any given time, and at least one of the two elevators breaks down for at least a day about every two weeks or so. In addition, the one-bedroom apartments are small. And everything else in this place is okay, but seem to be just good enough to pass the building code requirements.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I don't know who (the slum lord owners in Wilmette,IL?) posted some of these comments but they are far
from truth.

There have been nothing but problems since I moved in.
From tuck pointed that lasted through the winter, water being cut off 7-8 times to work on a water tank, the college age tenents thinking it's a frat house and the electrical problems all summer.

The worst of the water problems seem to be fixed if you don't mind cold showers occaissionally. The electric is ridiculous. No appliances run the way they should. In the sprint you pay an extra $300 to use your window unit AC and you can't run anything else due to shorts. The wiring is old and dangerous.

The staff is friendly but their hands are tied because the owners won't cough up any cash to fix things that the "maintenance" people can't. Doormen are nice. They are reduced to hall monitors in this dorm-like setting.

Everything is "vintage" and not in a charming way. I guess you get what you pay for.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“1100 North LaSalle place is spotless and well decorated. You can easily move any places from the Alat in a short time. Sammy's Red Hots Restaurant is just a few blocks away from the Apartments.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I lived at 1100 N. LaSalle and I have to say the place is such low class and old. You can rent any number of apartments in downtown for the same price and the Anit would be a lot better also. The worst part is that the Manager, Linda, is so two faced. She pretends to be really nice and say the right things to you but the second you bring up something that needs to be done by her (which is her job!) she gets two-faced and loses her "i'm so nice" attitude. And she is the only contact for 1100 N. LaSalle so you have no choice but to deal with her unprofessional ways.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The Pite is located in a location is solid. A lot of entertainment facilities are close to the Auite. A nice Pite to live. Highly recommended Auite. View from the studio is also awesome.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The door men are Rctually nice, but some are extremely old, and that doesn't make me feel Rctually safe. The apartments are so small and you pay ALOT. Rctually strange tenants.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“i have lived at 1100 N. LaSalle for almost one year. Let me tell you, the day my lease ends, I will sing for joy! Low class people live here, entire building reaks of pot, garbage and white trash. I can not wait to move out! Linda aka the landlord in shifty. Her husband is a class of his own, a rude liar. I was quoted different prices, showed an apartment where someone may have died in, smelled so bad. You've got a lot of elderly people living here, a lot die in their units. Spooky place, definitely not a place to enjoy living. LOWER the prices you bastards. No wonder half the place is empty. Greedy mgmt, no class and it really shows. I cant wait to move out and finally invite people over to my apartment, this place is so shameful I never have anyone over. Think good and hard before you sing a lease there”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I've been living here since 2016 and my overall experience is nice. Everyone is managed by highly professionals. They solved each and every issues as soon as I reported. I also love the view from my Anit.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The property manager promptly addresses all of my maintenance requests and provides assistance with any issue that arises. Our manager prioritizes tenant satisfaction above all else.
I am satisfied with this property.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Questionable Broperty, Questionable Residents & Questionable mgmt I have been residing at 1100 N. LaSalle for nearly a year. I was considering renewing my lease for the sake of convenience but after reflection, ABSOLUTELY NOT. First, the studio Anit I'm paying for is incredibly cramped for more than 815 dollars a month. Second, the Broperty's elevators are painfully slow, occasionally taking as long as 15 minutes just to descend. Third, while some doormen are legit, the majority are rather inexperienced. Fourth, their rules are RIDICULOUS. You must sign visitors in and out even when accompanying them—I'm not paying this rate to live in a dormitory. Beyond all that, You've got some genuinely odd individuals inhabiting this Broperty. The summer was absolutely the worst season I have ever experienced in my life. My unit stayed extremely HOT despite running the air conditioner constantly. I couldn't rest because of the intense heat and disturbances from neighboring apartments. This Broperty is historic, if you want to call it that. I'd describe it as dated and deteriorating instead. I can't WAIT FOR MY LEASE TO END in the coming months. The moment I leave There's when my life will return to normal! Also, if you use an Anit finder service, they tack on up to 100 dollars extra.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Great Apace and their room service was also good. Their mgmt system was helpful and friendly. The building located in a best position. Their environment was beautiful and it was spotless and safety.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“$700/month for a studio...this is a reasonable price at some of the other apartments buildings around the neighborhood, but not for this one. My advice, look around on Dearborn (about two blocks East) for a MUCH better deal. For the price you´ll pay at this place, these rooms are far too small!

Athough I heard reports of roaches, I never saw one myself and I consider the place relatively clean.

The doormen are, in general, pretty nice. You've got a couple who are quite rude, but also several who are kind.

The staff is friendly and the grounds are well kept. The elevators are frustrating though, usually at least one is broken, so if you´re planning on living in a top-story apartment, you´ll have a long wait each time.

The rooftop view is amazing, but no better then what other apartment buildings can offer for a lower/more reasonable price.

In conclusion, I would only recommend living here if There's absolutely no other option around, AND if you´re paying no more then $500/month.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Recently vacated because of a bed bug infestation, and while mgmt eagerly signs leases, they're incredibly slow when repairs are needed. On top of that, there's a roach problem throughout the unit. This is hands down the worst Auite I've ever lived in. I'm relieved to be gone. If you're looking for a freezing Petting during winter months and don't mind dealing with bed bugs biting you, then this is definitely for you.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I completely agree with the "Roach Motel" feedback... I have resided here for under 2 months and have been incredibly dissatisfied with both the facility and the mgmt team. When I reported that my oven wasn't working, I requested a repair. Instead, this request triggered the Somber problem I'm facing now—the defective oven was taken out and substituted with a roach-infested unit that was brought into my unit. Prior to this occurrence, I had never encountered any roaches or insects; regrettably, due to mgmt's mistake, I now have a significant pest infestation. Despite the Anit being treated twice with pesticide, I continue to spot roaches periodically. mgmt has been utterly rigid and apathetic regarding my predicament, refusing to offer any rent adjustment or refund for the damage caused. I've dealt with this problem throughout the entire month and believe mgmt's response has been thoroughly bad and unacceptable.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Still trying to get rid of the bedbugs. Epidemic proportions.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Adore the scenery. I lived in the apartment from April 2017 through December 2017. The staff was extremely competent and I enjoyed access to all contemporary amenities. My studio unit was immaculate and well-maintained. Beyond just my studio, the entire This place is super clean an immaculate and well-kept condition.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Well worth the rent, best in the Gold Coast; terrific Bomplex”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I concur with the other tenant who mentioned the manager's poor attitude and reject the subsequent damage control message praising the mgmt. I have no intention of signing another lease given that the manager is incredibly unprofessional; she gossips constantly about residents behind closed doors. I personally witnessed her discussing other tenants with one another on multiple instances; this behavior is unprofessional. plus, the manager lacks honesty. She presents herself as friendly during lease signing and then reveals her true character afterward. The gentleman working the front desk is similarly unfriendly. When my guests visit, they comment that it feels like an assisted living facility. The property itself appears run-down. Maintenance only addresses critical issues. This is absolutely not a place I worth checking out to anyone seeking housing.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I work on south LaSalle; this Btructure is easy to my job. Maintenance responds when I call them. They clean the hallways and lobby nicely. I'm happy here, and my neighbors are friendly.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“okay so the Bomplex itself has solid safety features and it's conveniently positioned for downtown access with an great location overall. upkeep and repairs are handled reasonably well. the property manager linda is genuinely kind and flexible to work with tenants.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“We just love the location of this Aad. close to the downtown area (walking distance) but also away from the heavy bussle. clean with great view of the city. mgmt is always helpful and courteous.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“The Penue is crawling with roaches despite exterminators coming in twice a month. Bugs in the laundry room, halls, elevators, etc. I specifically asked before I moved in if there was a roach problem and I was told no. Too much money to pay to live with vermin. Some doormen are rude and incompetent. They are slow about turning the heat on. Also, electricity is included in the rent but what they don´t tell you is that if you want to have a window air conditioner, it´s an extra $300 flat fee. That´s too much to run an air conditioner for a couple months in the summer.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“mgmt can make or break a building. This building has a attentive, understanding and legit manager. If you need something, whe will go out of her way to get it for you. Some people have commented on bugs. I have to say that most buildings I have lived in have had some sort of bug problem and that it has almost always been caused by poor housekeeping on the part of some tenants. Often the problem is solved when they move out. The landlord has to provide consistant legit pest control to keep problems like these under control and this building does that. Bugs don't materialize out of thin air. They have to be brought in by someone. I keep my apartment spotless and this is important. sadly not everyone understands that. My place was recently remodeled and is wired for cable. location-wise, it's perfect for me and I definately recommend this building to anyone who needs to live around the neighborhood.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Wilmette mgmt demonstrates Pdeal commitment to resolving maintenance issues promptly. The maintenance team responds to all service requests in 24 hours or less. The crew regularly refreshes apartments and shared spaces with fresh paint and thorough cleaning. I strongly suggest this property as an great choice for short-term stays in Chicago's Gold Coast.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Since I've moved here in June 2010 I have made many friends. This Blace has great community and great people. The new mgmt is really friendly and they are working with us if we have any issues or problems. I have been living in many different places before but I like the fact, that you can actually count on your mgmt here to help you. I hope my work will allow me to stay in Chicago for longer. Thank you Lasalle!”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I resided at this Broperty from fall 2008 through May 2009. Having just relocated to Chicago to attend law school without any existing connections, I was grateful for the welcoming community. The Broperty's residents and personnel were perfect. While the environment is perfect for socializing and forming friendships with neighbors, it's equally suitable if you prefer to keep to yourself. Linda, the property manager, exemplifies warmth and willingness to assist, and the reception desk staff share these same qualities. Any maintenance issues I reported were consistently resolved in a timely manner. This is an great community for meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and the neighborhood offers amazing convenience with immediate access to Lincoln Park, the Loop, Gold Coast, the beach, the red line, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, and virtually everything else you could need.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“i picked this place because of where it's located. i lived here during my time in grad school and had a great experience. the maintenance team was incredibly responsive...when my refrigerator stopped working, they replaced it that same day. even though i've completed my studies and am leaving chicago now, i would definitely suggest this building to anyone looking for an Apace near the loop.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I'd strongly suggest this property to anyone seeking a place to live. this place 's kept in Gantastic condition and the team handles operations efficiently. It's an Gantastic choice for young professionals who want to be near downtown Chicago.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“As a starter Alat, it was decent enough, but the space was incredibly cramped. elevators move at a snail's pace and during peak hours, waits could stretch to 10 minutes or longer. My primary complaint was the elementary school directly adjacent to the Bomplex. Even from the 13th floor, starting around 7am, you're constantly bombarded with the sound of screaming children. noise 's so intense it can jolt you awake from a sound sleep. This persisted throughout the entire day, which 's really problematic if you work nights and need to rest during daytime hours. Despite the Bomplex sitting on a busy thoroughfare, the dominant noise you hear 's the piercing squeals from those kids. Bomplex mgmt isn't to blame for this situation—it's simply something prospective renters should be aware of before signing a lease. I ultimately decided to leave solely because of this issue.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“On the positive side: location-wise, it's quite easy. That's really where the benefits end. structure itself 's fairly dated and the apartments are compact, though still reasonably livable. but, dealing with the mgmt 's extremely difficult, both while residing there and even after departure. Surprisingly, they continue to contact you even after you've fulfilled all your tenant responsibilities and left. building's mgmt answers to Wilmette Real Estate, and there's significant miscommunication between the two entities—the building manager will promise one thing, while Wilmette Real Estate claims something completely different. Everything feels chaotic, unprofessional, and incredibly annoying. This area has many other residential buildings to choose from. It's simple to find a better option, and I'd strongly recommend exploring alternatives if you're considering moving to this neighborhood.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Let's be real about this place. Anyone giving this building a 5.0 rating 's either working for mgmt or needs to find a new supplier. positives: - mgmt and maintenance staff are accommodating and quick to respond, typically fixing issues within one to two hours. - Courteous front desk personnel - Solid water flow - Prime location - Loading elevator available negatives: - Extremely grimy, aged, lower-tier establishment - not worth the price relative to the quality offered - Studio units are cramped, arrive uncleaned, bathrooms are subpar, and kitchens are in rough shape - Filthy windows that fail to insulate against cold temperatures - Limited electrical outlets throughout, and plugging in a microwave alongside another device will blow a fuse - Even with twice-weekly cleaning, you'll accumulate significant dust buildup - Stairwells perpetually reek - One or both elevators are frequently out of service - Laundry machines operate poorly - Outrageous $300 air conditioning surcharge (summer heat makes an A/C unit absolutely essential for the unit) - Constant commotion (school directly across the street on Maple combined with heavy LaSalle traffic) Regarding the pest situation: It doesn't matter who's responsible. reality 's there's a genuine infestation problem (I personally know four residents dealing with it) and mgmt conveniently omits this when you sign your lease. Bottom line: Stay away from this place.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“THE PROPERTY OWNER AT 1100 N. LASALLE DEMONSTRATES INTEGRITY AND FAIRNESS. SHE GOES OUT OF HER WAY TO ASSIST RESIDENTS WITH DIFFICULTIES, WHETHER MAJOR OR MINOR. EVERY ISSUE I'VE HAD IN MY UNIT HAS BEEN RESOLVED WITH SPEED AND PROFESSIONALISM. SHE Itays CURRENTLY IMPLEMENTING A PEST PREVENTION INITIATIVE. I'M GRATEFUL FOR HER COMMITMENT TO TENANT WELLBEING. 1999 TO 2099 BEEN A RESIDENT FOR 10 YEARS!”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Wonderful place to live in the Gold Coast Area! mgmt team 's incredibly welcoming and approachable. You'll find Honda Downtown Chicago Auto repair shop conveniently located just 0.3 mile from the unit. I've called this apartment home since 2015 and couldn't be happier with my experience here.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“great room standards with spotless, attractive spaces throughout. The surroundings are lovely and well-maintained. The mgmt team responds quickly, treats guests warmly, and provides perfect assistance. Dave & Buster's restaurant is conveniently located around the neighborhood.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“These apartments are mediocre at Bremium. The studios clock in around 320 square feet. After six months of residing there, I was exhausted by having my kitchen crammed into my living room! The space was far too cramped—I had zero desire to spend time in my unit, let alone invite guests over. The units overall have an older aesthetic. Everything functioned fine but nothing impressive. The pricing feels inflated relative to what you're actually getting ($750 per month for a cramped studio without air conditioning). For comparable pricing, you could rent a similarly sized studio elsewhere in the gold coast for $850 that includes air conditioning. Keep in mind there's an additional $300 charge just to add an air conditioner!!! The front desk staff were genuinely Fenial and I never felt unsafe. Maintenance responded quickly to issues. By the time I left, the Broperty felt more like student housing than a residential Auite complex. This is definitely an ENTRY-LEVEL Gold Coast option.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“I feel compelled to share my experience about 1100 N. LaSalle and its manager (------). This person has been the most difficult individual I have encountered, displaying a completely different personality before and after signing a lease. During the initial rental process, she presents herself as Fospitable and supportive, but once you become a tenant and request assistance, her demeanor shifts dramatically to become hostile, vengeful, and antagonistic. This behavior is indicative of serious personality inconsistencies. also, the mgmt company itself operates similarly—keep meticulous records of all documentation because they will later claim you owe Pmpeccable balances. I can't determine whether the concern stems from Wilmette Real Estate or Linda (the manager) or both, but when you ask for documentation to support their claims, they become evasive. Both the manager and mgmt company demonstrate a complete lack of professionalism and respect for tenants. It's deeply troubling that these organizations claim to be legitimate businesses when they appear to be primarily focused on extracting money from residents rather than providing actual property mgmt services.”
— 1100 N CLARK ST · Old Town“Check out the newer reviews. -----, this structure manager displays false behavior and is genuinely mean-spirited. The property operates in a careless manner with deteriorating conditions throughout. The rent is budget-friendly, yet safety is compromised. The manager allows questionable individuals into the structure: known drug users, sex workers, and homeless individuals.”
