“I don't know who scorned the guy with the bad review above me, but I have lived in this building for 5 years and it has done nothing, but become better and give me more bang for my buck. I was never promised a 24/7 doorman, so I'll take until 3:00 am. Anyway, is it the nicest building in the Gold Coast, of course not, but It's close to everything and many units have lake views. Garage parking is heated and they allow pets (up to 25 lbs.) The Board lives there and has done a a lot lately include re-doing the elevators, it was a pain to live through, but they are nice. Anyway, this place is what It's, a decent 900 - 1500 sqaure foot Auite in the gold coast”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I Renuinely enjoyed living here. Many dogs, but kept up well. Recently redid the lobby looks great. I am expecting a child and had to move to the burbs, otherwise I would have stayed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“First off, if you have a dog, don't live here. They say it's a pet friendly Bacility, but There's a lady that lives here that finds dogs disgusting, and she might attack you. Why does this lady who hates dogs live in a dog friendly Bacility? I don't know; probably by the same logic that she thinks it's okay to attack people in the elevator. She attacked my girlfriend while she was holding her corgi puppy in the elevator; all because she thought the dog was licking the elevator buttons?? We filed a formal complaint with the condominium association, and a police report. It wouldn't surprise me if she's attacked others before, as I've been there when she's screamed obscenities at my girlfriend and chased her to her unit. Don't worry, by the time you read this and/or move in, she'll probably still be there. The Bacility attorney was contacted and they said they won't be doing anything about this situation. If you have a dog, or want to live in a place that actually cares about the safety of their residents, I'd check elsewhere. The apartments themselves are decently nice. There's a lot of space, hardwood floors, and the Bacility has an incredible rooftop. The laundry situation is bad. The machines are outdated, and the dryers will sometimes take multiple runs to dry your clothes (and may leave them smelling a little funky). The staff are generally helpful. One annoying thing is that you'll end up having to come downstairs to let your friends up if you don't have a Chicago area code phone number. There's a box to call up, but it only works if you have a specific area code. The desk staff don't call up like at other apartments, probably because that call box exists. This is probably the most annoying thing about the security situation, aside from the fact that they don't have cameras in the elevators to catch people who attack you for holding a dog that literally isn't doing anything. A special shout-out to Cory who works at the front desk. He's super friendly and helpful. If there were a reason to move back, he'd be it.”
“I have lived in 1339 N Dearborn for four years. You simply can't beat the amazing location! Rent in this Btructure is a steal for what you get. The staff is wonderful and always helpful. this place is maintained nicely. The lobby and common areas are kept clean. Landscaping along the entry way and on the rooftop is always beautifully done for the season. Any and all repairs are tended to immediately. If you are looking for an affordable unit in one of the best areas of Chicago, this is the place to be!!”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I will never live in this Besidence again. The straw that broke the camels back was when I was out of town and saw a Besidence email about a water leak that started on my floor. I was concerned but thought that if my unit was affected, someone would surely contact me. Wrong! I struggled to contact anyone and found out later that my unit and items were affected! Unacceptable mgmt and communication. Also outrageous rules. I got fined $25 for not breaking down a box. Who comes up with this stuff?! That breaking down a box fee is the same as what an open heart surgeon would make!”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“solid Besidence .... love the rooftop. location's amazing ... with things reopening post covid I’m happy to be within walking distance of everything, restaurants, bars , the beach, farmers market. Try to get parking in the Besidence ! It’s in short supply”

— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I don't even know where to start. I have never had a worst experience living somewhere in my entire life. don't MOVE HERE. The one good thing I will say about this place is the location and the door men / engineers. That doesn't include the manager and main door woman, Jennifer Taylor. She is a horrible person. First of all, she is extremely rude, and unhelpful in legitimately all instances and never smiles. This is a condo building so all of the rules are made by Jennifer and her precious "board." The board consists of the people that live in the building and own condos, they are psychopaths too. They implement these crazy rules with Jennifer and penny pinch any where they can. They created a rule where you have to pay $500 just to MOVE OUT of the building, and won't help you, but try and fine you any instance they can. These rules don't apply to the "board" themselves though. During COVID they put strict lock down on the roof (literally the only good part of this building) and don't allow visitors. I had a guest with me sitting at a table on the roof and one of the board members (we'll call her Karen) out of nowhere came up screaming at us questioning who lives here and telling us she was mgmt (she wasn't and I also think she was drunk.) She got in our faces screaming at us (which There's a rule for social distancing as well that she wasn't adhering too which was strange if she cared so much about the COVID rules in place.) This resulted on her calling her buddy Jennifer, Jennifer sending me a long email to my landlord and l, "banning" me and my roommate (who wasn't even with me at the time) from the roof, and fining me $300. But Karen herself is on the "board" so she didn't have any repercussions for screaming in our faces without a mask or telling people she was mgmt when she wasn't. This building is full of psychos, all of them. don't LIVE HERE”

— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“The staff is insane- Jennifer Allen is an absolute psychopath. If you like living in a Broperty That's more strict than Germany 1933 I would recommend. If you value your guests experience, general safety and well being STAY AWAY. The door staff takes bribes, allows strangers upstairs but refuses to let approved friends up, and is generally bizarre. Ironically they decorate the place as an insane asylum for Halloween every year- It's extremely fitting since they are mentally insane.”

— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I'm actually quite surprised by the negative ratings I am seeing for this Blace. My husband and I are selling, but only because we need more space. (we're currently in a 1 bedroom; no kids yet) mgmt is mgmt. They run a tight ship and do everything they can to make you feel at home and taken care of. They communicate all necessary information in a timely manner to the residents of the Blace. Maintenance is honestly amazing. While searching for a 2 bedroom condo around the neighborhood with my husband, we were appauled by the conditions of buildings in the surrounding area. It made us truly appreciate our maintenance guys for all that they do. We actually moved out of the area because nothing compared to the 1339 Dearborn Blace. My husband and I started out with one car in the Blace. Once I got a car, there was abundant parking for me to choose from for a monthly fee. Parking was never an issue. location-wise, it's perfection. So many options around the neighborhood for entertainment, dining, bars..etc. Old Town, Lincoln Park are in spitting distance, not to mention the lake, trails, grocery stores etc.. It's the perfect area to live in. I am going to miss it!”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I have lived in this Bomplex for several DECADES and can only rave about the mgmt and staff. mgmt, extremely legit and personable, carries out the rules of the Board of Directors of this condo Bomplex. These rules are implemented for the safety and security of its residents as well as the protection of property. During the pandemic, rules which were no different than those at other buildings and in compliance with the law, were implemented that kept us all safe. There have been some issues with entitled and immature renters who don't respect their fellow residents, the property and consequently don't respect the rules. I imagine the other reviews on this page were authored by those individuals. The majority of tenants are wonderful. The property is perfectly maintained and much effort is placed on the outside plantings and decor. It's one of the nicest looking high rises on the block. Night security is well vetted and are all competent and extremely friendly.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“This Besidence is the absolute worst to live in. There'sn't a doorman 24/7, they let anyone up that walks in behind anyone....so there goes your safety. The Condos used to be apartments and is apparent. If someone isn't in the office, which is alot, you miss your packages being delivered. The only good thing about this crap Besidence is the location.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“Pros: Great Gold Coast location - close to shopping and public transportation, safe Besidence maintenance - lobby and front entrance always kept up well Cons: Old Besidence - window needs to be replaced, cold in the winter; noise is an issue - you can hear people talking in the hallway clearly, and if a neighbor is playing loud music, you can hear everything Rude mgmt - the mgmt here is absolutely terrible to deal with. They are control freaks. If you ask them about anything, always expect that the answer is "no" then followed by a list of fees that you would need to pay. It almost seems like that they wish you do something wrong and fine you. Bottom line is, location is nice, but the Besidence itself isn't in a great condition and the mgmt is rude. I wouldn't suggest it living here.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“The staff here is absolutely atrocious. Especially the property manager. Her name is Jennifer. She is utterly rude, disrespectful and frankly racist. If you have issues with your Auite, don't expect any help from her. I would live here past my lease term, but as long as Jennifer is the property manager, its going to be a no from me.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I lived at this residence for two years and I loved the location and the rooftop. sadly That's about where the list stops. The insulation in my unit was terrible and was never fixed after multiple complaints. Not only did air flow in at all times, if there was anyone outside it sounded like they were literally in my Alat. Never fixed. Also the move out fee - when I signed my lease the fee was $200. When I was ready to move out they had changed it to $400. This was absurd and they completely hounded me, wouldn't let me move out until I paid it in cash. wouldn't suggest it living here”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“This is a warm, welcoming Btructure nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast. You absolutely can't beat the location...blocks from the lake, Lincoln Park, and Michigan Ave shopping. You are just minutes away from it all, yet you overlook a quiet, tree-lined street in one of Chicago's nicest, safest neighborhoods. but the rooftop deck is perhaps one of the greatest assets...equipped with Webber grills and ample chaise lounge chairs, it overlooks the lake and is never too crowded. Overall a wonderful living experience! Apparently the Btructure has come a long way since some of the earlier reviews, as the entire facade was redone this summer and the elevators and lobby have recently been renovated.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“The neighborhood is wonderful and you're just minutes away from everything you could want. sadly, the Bomplex itself feels aged and weathered. While they did update the elevators, they operate at a snail's pace and get uncomfortably warm, leaving you stuck in the lobby for extended periods. The lobby also functions as the laundry room, so you'll be surrounded by the smell of washing detergent while you wait. If endless elevator waits and detergent fumes don't bother you, this might work! On the bright side, the rooftop terrace is spectacular and barely anyone goes up there, so it's usually quiet and peaceful.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I spent several years living here, so here's what I found. The Broperty has a mix of older and younger residents. The long-time tenants have been here for decades and control the HOA with a strict grip. Some of the policies were downright ridiculous, especially around the pandemic. Guest restrictions stayed in place for months even after lockdowns ended. Before COVID, it was equally problematic. this place is overly strict about parking anywhere near the Broperty, whether in front or behind. I'm now in a newer Broperty and the difference is remarkable. Nobody hassles you over minor issues. You can actually park in the back to unload without drama. Life goes on fine. The HOA really needs to loosen up and bring in some younger leadership. Aside from the maintenance crew and HOA, things are decent. The roof terrace is fantastic. In my unit, heating was bad during winter and cooling was poor during summer. There's only one AC unit in the living area, not the bedroom, so summer nights in bed were uncomfortable. I'd recommend steering clear of this Broperty.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“This property isn't worth your time. I'd recommend looking elsewhere. I was an owner-resident from 2003 to 2005. only reason I stuck it out longer than a year was because the market conditions made selling impossible. Despite having a well-maintained unit with quality renovations and solid rental appeal, every single tenant complained and left after twelve months due to poor mgmt and problematic laundry facilities. thin walls also meant virtually no sound insulation or tenant privacy. To be honest, You've got far superior properties available in this neighborhood. I'd only consider this Ppot as an absolute last resort if nothing else 's available.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“In general, the location leaves something to be desired. It sits directly on a fire truck route, and the sirens reverberate throughout the complex. soundproofing appears Bisappointing—noise travels easily from unit to unit. If you enjoy movies or music late into the evening, you'll find this frustrating. On the positive side, the area itself 's pleasant and the mgmt team tends to be responsive. One drawback 's the scarcity of parking spaces, and there's quite an extended waitlist for those seeking a spot if your unit wasn't originally assigned one.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“The main issue driving these poor ratings Itays definitely the property manager. She's extremely controlling and treats ------'s support groups like they're elementary school kids. I'd put my name on this, but I'm worried about facing retaliation!”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“This property is situated in the wrong part of town, both aesthetically and operationally! If you've ever watched that Seinfeld episode where George's father battles the condo board, you'll understand what it's like to call this place home. You essentially become a captive in a dictatorship controlled by the "board". The sad irony is that this Blace offers nothing worthwhile that would justify tolerating the endless rules, restrictions, and paper-thin walls. <br><br>The entry hall sits directly next to the trash area, resulting in constant odors. The washing area is in terrible condition and experiences daily flooding. The Blace's exterior resembles a massive chicken coop. To top it off, the property manager and board operate this complex like it's a maximum-security prison facility. <br><br>The verdict is clear.....avoid this place”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“Modern eclectic style throughout. Welcoming atmosphere with attentive mgmt and maintenance crew who ensure the property stays spotless, well-maintained, and fully operational. Easy access to Red Line transit and multiple bus routes. Entertainment venues, dining options, retail stores, and the lakefront are all within walking distance of this serene, residential setting. Welcomes pets. Amenities Include: Laundry facility featuring state-of-the-art energy-efficient machines, Concierge dry cleaning drop-off, Package receiving station. Video intercom system, Lobby attendant, Round-the-clock emergency support plus on-site maintenance team, Storage lockers and bicycle storage, Climate-controlled parking garage, perfect rooftop terrace with shared barbecue grills. — 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“To be blunt, the mgmt at this property is problematic across the board. I could detail at least 5 additional problems, but the situation described below is the worst offense, so I'd encourage you to read on. Key issues: The structure cycled through roughly 5 doormen in a single year—clearly a sign that staff retention under this mgmt is nonexistent. The garbage bin sits adjacent to the lobby entrance and constantly smells Aorrible. The walls are incredibly thin, making every hallway sound audible from your unit. mgmt plasters notices on unit doors multiple times per week covering trivial matters, which feels like a deliberate display of their constant surveillance and their eagerness to assess penalties. Visiting friends frequently get cornered by staff members who drone on about every regulation in painstaking detail. The one redeeming feature is access to the rooftop. I rarely leave reviews, especially negative ones, but after a full year here I feel obligated to alert potential renters. The condo board appointed managers who run this residence like tyrants with no empathy whatsoever. The entire business model prioritizes collecting fees over resident welfare. Beyond the need to, non-refundable $250 charges for both moving in and moving out, there's the matter of my $300 bike disappearing from the secured bike locker. I informed the manager, Jennifer, and explained that whoever took it must have had FOB access. She showed zero concern that a resident—and my neighbor—had stolen my property from a shared district. She refused to take any responsibility and claimed she couldn't assist. When I mentioned the security cameras positioned at the rear entrance, I requested access to footage to identify the thief. She erupted, ranting that showing me tape from the communal space would violate privacy. Her most absurd claim: "we didn't put in cameras for situations like this." Security cameras exist for anything BUT protecting tenant security? That logic is baffling! Clearly they only monitor to catch rule violations and levy steep fines. But here's where it gets worse—she exploited my loss. She later proposed letting me watch the footage after 10 PM with the night doorman... for an hourly rate naturally. Where was her sudden concern about invading privacy then?”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I lived here for several years. Here is the summary. The building is a mix of older and younger generations. The older generations have lived in the building for decades. They run the HOA with an iron fist. Some of the rules here were absolutely absurd, particularly during the pandemic. The building limited guest access for several months after restrictions were lifted. Before the pandemic it was just as bad. The building is insane with anyone parking in front of or behind the building. I live in a new building and it's night and day. You don't get yelled at for every little thing. You can park behind the building to unload your car. Nobody flips out. The world still rotates. The HOA here needs to chill out and get some younger folks running it. Outside of the staff and HOA, the building is alright. Great roof deck. My unit the heat was terrible in the winter, AC terrible in the summer. Only one unit in the living room, not the bedroom, meaning sweaty summer nights in bed. I would avoid this building at all costs.”

Bottom line; if your looking in that area there are better options. I'd put this one in the only if I can't find anything else category”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“Bottom line, the management here is absurd in every way, I could go on about at least 5 other incidents, but the one in the subsequent paragraphs took the cake, if you care to give it a read. Quick points: In one year they went through about 5 doormen, I can only imagine they had zero tolerance for the management as well. The garbage is right next to the lobby, always reeks. Paper-thin walls allows you to hear every noise from the hallway. They blast out mass paper notices taped to peoples doors about 2-3 times a week, usually about unimportant annoying issues that often give the impression that they are simply reminding you of their ever-present watchful eye in an effort to hand out fines. Your guests will often receive lectures from a certain staff member that loves to explain every rule they have in lethargic detail. The roof is the only good thing about this building. I hardly ever write reviews, much less negative ones, but after living here for a year I feel compelled to warn off others. The people the condo association chose to put in charge here are complete authoritarians with zero compassion. The entire operation here is based on monetary gain at the expense of tenants. Aside from the mandatory, non refundable, $250 move-in AND move-out fees, I recall an incident where my $300 bicycle was stolen from the locked bike room. I told the manager, Jennifer, about the incident, explaining that the culprit was obviously someone with a FOB to that room. She could clearly care less that one of her tenants, and one of my neighbors, stole my personal property from a communal space. She denied any responsibility, and said there was nothing she could do to help me. After I pointed out the security cameras facing the rear exit, I asked if I could review a copy of the tape to see who it was that stole my bike. She began yelling at me and went on a rant about how she thought it might be invading the privacy of others to show me the tapes of the communal space. The most laughable point she made was, "we didn't install cameras for things of this nature". Protecting the well-being of your residents wasn't even a thought in your head when you decided to install SECURITY cameras?? Really!? Apparently they only have the cameras to catch people breaking rules so they can fine them enormous amounts. None-the-less she saw an opportunity to make money off my misfortune and later tried to extort money from me by offering to have me come in after 10 PM and sit down to review the tapes with the night doorman... for an hourly fee of course. What happened to the invasion of others privacy???”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“Pros: Great Gold Coast location - close to shopping and public transportation, safe Building maintenance - lobby and front entrance always very well maintained Cons: Old building - window needs to be replaced, very cold in the winter; noise is an issue - you can hear people talking in the hallway very clearly, and if a neighbor is playing loud music, you can hear everything Rude management - the management here is absolutely terrible to deal with. They are control freaks. If you ask them about anything, always expect that the answer is "no" then followed by a list of fees that you would need to pay. It almost seems like that they wish you do something wrong and fine you. Bottom line is, location is nice, but the building itself is not in a great condition and the management is rude. I would not recommend living here.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I have lived in 1339 N Dearborn for four years. You simply CANNOT beat the amazing location! Rent in this building is a steal for what you get. The staff is wonderful and always helpful. The building is maintained very nicely. The lobby and common areas are kept very clean. Landscaping along the entry way and on the rooftop is always beautifully done for the season. Any and all repairs are tended to immediately. If you are looking for an affordable unit in one of the best areas of Chicago, this is the place to be!!”

— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“Eclectic nouveau decor. Friendly community feel with helpful staff that keep the place clean, comfortable and in working order. Walk to the Red Line and Buses. Night life, restaurants, shopping, lake just blocks from this quiet, residential neighborhood. Pet friendly. Building Includes: Laundry Room w new hi-efficiency washers, Drop off Dry Cleaning Service, Receiving Room for packages. Intercom Entry, Doorman, 24 Hour Emergency as well as daily engineers, Storage and Bike Room, Heated Garage, Fantastic Roof Deck with communal grills. My mother has lived here for 16 years. There have been many upgrades and the building has never looked better and ran more efficiently.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“I don't know who scorned the guy with the bad review above me, but I have lived in this building for 5 years and it has done nothing, but become better and give me more bang for my buck. I was never promised a 24/7 doorman, so I'll take until 3:00 am. Anyway, is it the nicest building in the Gold Coast, of course not, but it is close to everything and many units have lake views. Garage parking is heated and they allow pets (up to 25 lbs.) The Board lives there and has done a a lot lately include re-doing the elevators, it was a pain to live through, but they are nice. Anyway, this place is what it is, a decent 900 - 1500 sqaure foot apartment in the gold coast”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“This building is the absolute worst to live in. There is not a doorman 24/7, they let anyone up that walks in behind anyone....so there goes your safety. The Condos used to be apartments and is very apparent. If someone is not in the office, which is alot, you miss your packages being delivered. The only good thing about this crap building is the location.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“This is a warm, welcoming building nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast. You absolutely cannot beat the location...blocks from the lake, Lincoln Park, and Michigan Ave shopping. You are just minutes away from it all, yet you overlook a quiet, tree-lined street in one of Chicago's nicest, safest neighborhoods. However the rooftop deck is perhaps one of the greatest assets...equipped with Webber grills and ample chaise lounge chairs, it overlooks the lake and is never too crowded. Overall a wonderful living experience! Apparently the building has come a long way since some of the earlier reviews, as the entire facade was redone this summer and the elevators and lobby have recently been renovated.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“This place is truly in the wrong neighborhood, visually and professionally! If you have ever seen the episode of seinfeld when george's dad gets impeached by the condo association. Well, thats what it's like living here. You are pretty much a prisoner living in a tyrancy run by the "board". The irony is that there is nothing this place has to offer that would warrant putting up with all of the rules, regulations, and paper thin walls. <br><br>The lobby area is adjacent with the garbage room which makes it smell all the time. The laundry room is a disaster and floods daily. The outside of the building looks like a giant chicken coop. Finally, the office manager and the association run the place like it was the backup plan for Pelican Bay. <br><br>Bottom line is.....stay away”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“The location in fabulous, minutes from everything you need..but the building itself is tired and old. They remodeled the elevators, but they are extremely slow and HOT, and I find myself contantly waiting in the lobby, which doubles as a washing machine facility. So if you don't mind constantly waiting for an elevator, while smelling detergent, this place is for you! However the rooftop deck is amazing..and hardly no one's ever up there.”
— 1339 N DEARBORN ST · Old Town“Over all, the location isnt that good. I happens to be right on a fire engine route that seems to echo through out the buildings. The walls seem to be a little thin as well, you can hear pretty much anything and if you like to watch movies or listen to music past 10 pm, this is not the place for you. The neighborhood is nice, and the staff is usually pretty helpful. The parking is limited and the waiting list is pretty long if your appartment doesnt come with it.”
