This was my first place my wife and I moved to in Chicago. The apartments are okay, the loft feel is nice, but you will hear your upstairs neighbors. There are no amenities in the building except for a rooftop deck and grill which is nice. The downside is that the building is located near Reserve and Chromium/Shadow nightclubs and IT IS LOCATED RIGHT NEXT TO THE L TRAIN! Do yourself a favor and check out the postings from Lakestreetlookout on YouTube and decide for yourself. While the restaurants and bars on Randolph are nice, there are a lot of street fights and even some shootings resulting in homicides due to these clubs. I moved out of there last summer and just stumbled upon these postings today which prompted me to write this review. Had I seen these videos before I moved, I would not have moved into this building. Also, the building manager, Mark, is a weird guy. He will do nice things for the building residents, like a $15 gift card during the holidays and a complimentary bottle of white zinfendal when you move in. He will also creep out any female in the building, is a stickler for ridiculous rules and is not available should there be an emergency after hours. Also, any of the reviews on here that sound too good to be true are because he writes them! I read one where it said the location was great because you could walk to the butcher for a Christmas ham? Who the hell would write that? I think he spends at least 40% of his day reading and writing reviews on these sites.

Lake Street Lofts was my first experience living in Chicago and I am now a life long resident of the city. Not only is there indoor heated parking available there is street parking for guests with no meters to fill. a very clean and secure building, walking distance to the Loop, restraunts and shops.

Three years ago my husband and I moved into our spacious Lake St. Loft apartment after several years of being cramped in a crappy 'vintage' Lincoln Park apartment. Our great room is huge and open to the kitchen which is perfect for entertaining. The exposed timber columns, extremely high ceilings, as well as exposed brick really add character to our apartment. Every guest we've had over has been in awe. Our apartment faces east and we have an awesome skyline view. The central air and heat is ideal - you certainly don't get that in Lincoln Park! And I've always felt extremely safe - double locking doors in the main vestibule and heavy solid wood entry doors to the units. Our car is always nice and cozy in our heated garage space. And speaking of parking - Marc from the management company has always been very accomodating when I've asked for guest parking. Our out-of-town guests love the peace of mind of having a temporary parking space - gated or garage. Street parking is never a problem either and certainly safe. I love the Fulton Market neighborhood. The guys at the nearby Meat Market are always friendly on my morning walk to the Halsted Bus - and it sure is convenient for buying that holiday ham! I can't say enough about living here - our experience has been a great one. One that we would repeat. Oh and by the way - the Reserve and Chromium are both closed now! Reserve is being transformed into a restuarant - it's been months without the late night 'thumping!'

Nothing is sadder than a beautiful building with great rental prices, yet a completely wasted potential. Upon looking at this building, with its renovated factory-into-loft style, you would think this building has it all. Even though it does not, it certainly still could... Layout - some bathrooms are split into sink outside/toilet inside. And with no doors around bath or bedroom areas, it doesn't leave for much privacy. Noise - Hey, it's right outside the L and next door to Reserve, so you know what you're getting. Can't really complain about that if you know it going in. Fitness Center - None to speak of (again, wasted potential) Laundry Room - Only 75 cents to wash and dry, but when you have to dry everything twice because the machines are too old to get it done the first time, you end up paying a normal price of $1.50 but spend twice as much time. And this leads to machines not being available because they're in use for so long by one person. A complete disrespect to tenants' time. Management/Repairs - The manager obviously takes on too much as you cannot get him directly on the phone without having to leave a message first. A secretary might be in order! Requests for repairs go half-answered or unanswered for months. And on a Sunday morning when we woke to water dripping from our ceiling and into our hallway, the "emergency phone number" turned out to a call center service that resulted in one of the maintenance men showing up a half hour later with trash bins to collect the water. No explanation, no compensation for our rude awakening or having to walk through a soggy hallway, nothing on behalf of the management. Security System - Not once during the time we lived there did the call system ring to our phone. We tried different things, thought it was "fixed" at one point, but ultimately gave up. It wasn't the biggest deal for us to go get our visitors from downstairs ourselves, though others might find that extremely annoying. Pet peeves - Kitchen seemed to be at a slant. Things put in the dishwasher and refrigerator just seemed to roll toward the wall. The tile in the kitchen was of a cheap material. The corners stuck up and the whole floor popped when walked upon. We were told that it would be replaced with a wooden floor, but it never happened. Neighborhood - The West Loop has been in transition for some time now. Restaurant Row, great. Other streets, great. Lake Street by meat markets and clubs, not so great. Some days, there is a distinct rotten produce smell. Saturday nights become a free-for-all party in the street between Reserve, Chromium, and Shadow Bar. And ladies, there is a special treat for you in that when you walk down the street, you are often alone or whistled at by every factory worker. And I mean in excess. It's not a well-traveled area by pedestrians the like many other parts of the city. So that's that. Let this building get its act together and probably some new management so that it can truly use the beautiful structure and skyline it has to its advantage. Until then, there are PLENTY of other great places to live here.

All the things that make city living great are the same things that make LSL great. The lofts are very nice and roomy, great restaurants and bars only steps away, and grabbing the train is as quick as a 5 min walk or less. My experience with Lake Street Lofts management is also as good as it gets. Marc and the management team are very helpful and quick to respond, which isn't the norm in alot of places downtown. I also had a special situation with my move which they were more than helpful with accommodating and I am very grateful for that. Review of Lake Street Lofts... 5 Stars! I'd recommend to anyone! I'm a lower floor, in the southeast corner. Friday and Saturday night, music throbs from Reserve, Chromium and Shadow Bar well into the early morning. The city won't do anything about it, so I've learned to cope. ***Club noise is my one true complaint, and you can avoid it by taking a unit higher up, or on the other side of building.*** I've also lived in the southwest corner near the top of the building, and never heard a peep from the bars.

My Fiancee and i moved to Lake St Lofts over a year ago and quickly renewed our lease. The best part about Lake St is the management. Mark really has an interest in his tenents and it shows. Parking is no problem. They offer covered, uncovered, and street parking (which i use and always find a spot). Its unzoned but we are the only residential building inthe area so i can find parking anytime.
