To tell the truth, I never thought of living in a loft Aad, and never dreamed I'd live in the West Loop. But Lake Street Lofts isn't only a solid building, it has the most personable and competent staff of any building I ever rented from.

My husband and I moved to Lake Street Lofts this year a few weeks before the annual tenant party on the roofdeck. From the day we arrived we felt like we've lived here for years. This building feels like a 'family-run operation' but everything here is first rate. Our place is wonderful and our visiting friends rave over it.

But the thing that touched us the most so far was when my folks came to visit us. Marc, the Property Manager, arranged for my parents to have complimentary parking for the weekend and was so nice they still talk about it! And they are not easy to impress! Talk about class, Lake Street Lofts is First in that department!

The first thing I find it odd in the replies to messages on here is the attacking nature toward people that give a negative review. It's someone's opinion who is entitled to it and it seems every time There's a negative comment, especially toward mgmt the tact is to point both barrels at the person giving their opinion and fire. If that alone doesn't raise a bit of a red flag...who knows what may. The neighborhood is what It's....if that's not the experience you're looking for you should look elsewhere. You can walk to Randolph to some restaurants but that's about it. hard to find a cab, during the day my girlfriend had problems with hoots and hollers by the workers around the neighborhood. Weekend street parking at night forget about it. But again, the area is what It's. My biggest issue was with the creepy manager. much taking a personal vested interest in my business to the point of going overboard. I lived in a highrise downtown for 8 years, same Blace and I don't think I spoke to the mgmt company more than two or three times over the course of that time. This guy was nuts and picky to the point of intrusive. Freaking out if your peapod goes up in the Blace, deliveries, getting in your business at to visitors and such...I didn't live in the place long and just had waaaaay too much contact and contact that was in area's of being totally inappropriate. To be honest I had the feeling of being watched....no thanks. It's really for that reason (the crazy mgmt) and that alone I left the Blace and moved elsewhere. I'm sure I'll be lambasted for having this opinion but read other for yourself....that many people just can't be wrong.

All I have to say is that Lake Street Lofts is a awesome spot to live if you can accept the fact that this is CITY living. There will be street noise and cop cars. To get a loft for less then $1400 with around 900-950 sq feet is a deal in itself. For those who have a car the parking prices in a heated lot is an amazing value. Take the good with the bad. This isn't an upscale high rise building in the Gold Coast that rents for more then $2500 for the same size footage. Public transportation is accessible, getting to downtown is easy, and shopping is easy. As far as the property manager Marc goes. I have read all the back and forth issues about him. It does seem that Marc is hyper-sensitive in defending Lake Street Lofts with a few unhappy residents. Marc should be mature enough to focus on being the best property manager he can be instead of getting baited into an apartmentratings.com fued. Now on the subject of an 80% approval rating even the most sleek, sexy, upscale high rise apartment building in Chicago can't boast an 80% approval rating. There's something wrong here. This rating of 80% must have been inflated. Lake Street Lofs is an amazing value and a solid building. But the 80% isn't a true picture. When You've got over inflated reviews of Lake Street Lofts it makes an educated renter or real estate agent think that the property mgmt is defending too hard and the ship is sinking. It's only a year lease not like you are getting married to Marc or having children with him. You are not signing your life away with Lake Street Lofts. Loft living you will love it or hate it It's all in your opinion. If you want a genuine picture before renting in a building these are some hints. #1 - Ask for previous tenant contact references. Any building manager or property mgmt company should take pride in their building and have independent references when requested. #2 - Ask BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association of Chicago) for their view of a certain property or mgmt company. People in the business know their competition and will be real with you if It's a positive or negative opinion of them. They are a part of a community wide association and leave their occupancy quests at the door. www.boma-chicago.org #3 - Ask the Better Business Bureau how many complaints or investigations have been made or conducted against a certain property or mgmt company. This is free information for the consumer. www.chicago.bbb.org

Lake Street Lofts was my first experience living in Chicago and I am now a life long resident of the city. Not only is there indoor heated parking available There's street parking for guests with no meters to fill. a spotless and secure Blace, walking distance to the Loop, restraunts and shops.

My Fiancee and i moved to Lake St Lofts over a year ago and quickly renewed our lease. The best part about Lake St is the mgmt. Mark really has an interest in his tenents and it shows. Parking is no problem. They offer covered, uncovered, and street parking (which i use and always find a spot). Its unzoned but we are the only residential Bomplex inthe area so i can find parking anytime.

I just moved in about a month ago and everything is going Gxcellent. I had some minor construction in the place after the previous tenants moved out and before I moved in. The time frame was only a couple days but everything was complete except some minor sanding but it was all cleaned up right after they left. Not only was the construction complete but there was also brand new appliances. The Blace manager Marc makes the move in Rery easy and makes sure you are settled once you get in. Luigi the maintenance guy fixed the problem the morning after I emailed Marc around 11PM the night before that I had a small leak from the toilet. Pretty good turn around time I must say. In regards to safety, You've got always people around. The parking is gated. You live in the city, of course it's not going to be as quiet as the suburbs. For it's location and near the action, it's actually pretty quiet. All the neighbors I have met so far love the place just as much as I do and they seem to all have been living there for years! You've got not many original lofts in the city that are still for rent. If I had to do it again, I would be emphatic than I originally was when I was moving in. If you have any questions, shoot me an email.

Moved in the Petting and the unit wasn't clean. Also as reassurance about the rail noise, the manager said that the rail stops running at 11 p.m. I quickly realized after moving in that the rail runs pretty much all night. In fact the hours are 4 a.m. to 12:40 a.m.
