Since all the construction has stopped, the building has become a great place to live. Very nice gym and convenient access to the red line/Michigan avenue. Friendly staff and office management.

Poor management. Always under construction. Projects never completed on time.

Have been renting at Huron Plaza for only a few months. So far my wife, dog and I have had a pleasant experience. The location is awesome and the views are nice. There is a lot of construction going on since many of the units are being converted to condos. I hea people have elevator issues in the early morning because two of the four elevators are used by construction workers. Things might get noisier once my floor gets its hallway make over that is supposed to happen pretty soon. Two things that have annoyed me is the hammering that is going on upstairs and the workers on those window washing lifts. The lifts drive my dog crazy. I don't have a car but the garage just got a huge makeover. You don;t reaaly need a car because just about everything is close by. The amenities are nice but I just the party room they have wasn;t $100 to use. I haven't dealt with the management too much but the door people and maintence staff are really nice. The construction people have also been very responsive given all the work they have going on. Not sure if I would buy but so far this has been a great place to live.

I moved into Huron Plaza in 1982 and moved out in 2004. Lived in a 1br then a 2br and was generally pleased with everything except the lack of preventative maintenance. All electric housing is VERY expensive, especially in winter. With a window heater in a couple of places, there is very uneven heat all around. Also, there is poor circulation so I had to use fans to distribute the heat. I was very happy to move out of a 25 year old building on it's last legs. Good luck to all who live there now and in the future. Can't judge parking as I don't have a licence and never owned a car. The views were crowded out by the Fordham, Pinnacle and Chicago Place. More loss coming with Trump Tower and the 60 story high rise going up in St. James Plaza where the Diocesician Center building is now.

I live here, it has some problems, but all and all it is a pleasure. All leases have a 60 day out clause, no one has to stay. If you are unhappy, you just give management 60 day notice and you can move. The pool is beautiful, I have never had anything stolen, management has been prompt to attend to complaints, as far as a bug crisis...some spiders, all harmless! Yes, storage was removed. In its place they are building a new fitness area, party room, and theater - an ok trade.

I like it here. I will stay as long as possible. I'd buy my unit, just can't afford it currently. Hopefully, I'll win the lottery and buy the Penthouse.

This building is unlivable! At least one day a week I have no water because of the conversion. Everyday I wake up to drills and hammers. All day everyday I hear sirens echoing nonstop. Management is ridiculously awful. Sales are rude and arrogant. We have a huge bug problem, spiders, lady bugs, and big beetles crawl through the cracks in the windows. We have electric heat and air that is not included. Which also makes the electric bill through the roof! In the winter my bill is aroung $225 a month and its still freezing because the windows have holes in them. You can't ever get an elevator without a 15 min. wait because with conversion they have one to two of them locked off. And then there usually someone moving out. This building has a lovely pool, that only gets two hours of sunlight from 12-2. And we now have a theater that seats 7 people in place of our storage units. In addition, we have picketers outside with blow up rats yelling about Cresent Heights and their labor practices all day everyday. They even lost there permit for the construction because they don't follow the rules. We also have theives that live in the building. I've had 3 loads of laundry stolen out of the laundry room in 3 months!!! That was worth around $1000. But Crescent Heights couldn't care less. THIS BUILDING IS AWFUL!!! RUN! RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!! BEWARE OF THIS NIGHTMARISH BUILDING!!

I rented a North facing studio in the high 20's, the view of the shoreline east is amazing, on a clear day I could see all the way to Evanston. The units are very large and have good closet space, my studio was 650 square feet, I paid $1,100 a month and given the location, I thought it was the best deal in town, the unit was dated though, it had the original appliances and older window units. The location is second to none and the building is perfect. When I found out it was going condo, I really didn't expect much, the gym was a bit small and a aged, the common areas were a bit drab and dark, I didn't think it would hold water to some of the other condo projects that are popping up all of the city now. Wow was I wrong, I was just passing by one day and there was an open house, I decided to go in and see what this new manager/developer was doing. It is unbelievable, the pool and sundeck are like a Cancun resort, the gym is twice the size with state of the art equipment, there is a movie theatre, party room and new laundry room, wow! But even more impressive was seeing my unit built out to a one bedroom with all new stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, maple cabinets, completely new kitchen and bathroom. I couldn't believe what the new company has done to this building. Regarding my sales person(s), I actually spoke to two, they were so professional and not pushy at all. I explained to them that I wasn't necessarily buying but I lived in the building for a couple of years and just wanted to check it out, they were totally fine with that and gave me their complete and undivided attention. I read some of the other comments that are posted, I completely disagree with most if not all of the negative comments. One thing that is true is that in this and other high-rise buildings that I have lived at, they all have spider problems, I don't know what it is but spiders just like high buildings. If I didn't live up North, I would definitely buy at 30 E. Huron.

Elise

Yes, 30 E. Huron is in transition.

It comes with the occasional elevator delays, some construction problems, and some leaky windows. However, they have renovated EVERYTHING in past months. The pool area, laundry room, and lobby are all incredible. All-in-all, the maintenace staff is attentive, the management staff addresses problems fairly quickly, and the building runs relatively efficiently.

We opted to stay until our unit is sold or we purchase it.

I have lived at 30 East Huron as a renter before the condo conversion and am now renting from a private owner.

The water pressure in this building is great, I've had only minor maint. issues in my apartment, and the maint. staff always came super quickly. Sure, there have been some growing pains with the condo conversion in terms of elevator delays, but I have lived in downtown high rises for 7 years, you just have to be patient and it's not that big of a deal. It's a quiet building (made out of concrete & steel and not some drywall junk) in a fantastic location. Yeah, parking is expensive like everywhere else downtown. Blame Mayor Daley for that one.

I have a gorgeous corner one bedroom here at Huron Plaza but the place needs new windows, you can here them shake and rattle when its windy. They leak and we have a spider and lady bug problem that´s out of control!

In addition, the temperature´s always very unconfortable and all winter long my electric bill has been $200 - $225 and its still freezing in my apartment!!!

The elevators are slower than molasis. And the constuction is extremly disruptive to say the least. And there´s some sort of water problem. Often times my bathwater is rusty and sometimes they decide to work on it and turn if off without notice. I´ve had to go to work without a shower because of it!

Overall, the building staff is very friendly, prompt, and accomodating, but
the people that are associtated with the conversion team(Crescent Heights) are a different story. They are rude, arrogant and less than inattentive to the residents needs and concerns.
