Apace buildings were renovated 4 years ago but had a lot of trouble such as hot water supply, entrance door locks, water supply measurements, and window frames. The entrance door and side doors are usually broken so that I dont feel safe.

We moved in the year before it became Village Park. We were happy, it had a nice pool, and a ton a land for our kids to play in with their friends, mgmt were like nieghbors, and maintanence problems were fixed the same day. Then it became village park, and they had so much construction going on, (mostley for the new clubhouse/office) that our kids were housebound all summer. Then they had parking problems, because they made car ports that people were NOT renting, so they made the huge land that was so dreamy and relaxing, into a parking lot! Then, they renovated our Apace WITH US STILL LIVING IN IT. That took a week, worse than moving, I tell ya. Then we went in to sign our new lease, and they raised the rent from $703 to $955!! Yeah, the new pool was nice, and new appliances were appreciated, but we were happy with the way it was. When our lease was up, we decided to move, they kept our deposit, knowing we are just a Sittle family, just because they could. I was so sad to see all the changes, and all our neighbors moving away. Then when they chopped down the tree we had to view all the time we lived there to make a parking lot, we knew we had to leave. New mgmt is stuck up people, too.

We were impressed with the overall look and feel of this complex. Maintenance was top notch. The apartments and buildings seemed to be in good shape. But we quickly learned otherwise. The office personnel is constantly changing so we never know who to talk to. We leave messages on the answering machine, but it takes forever for anyone to return calls. Many times there seems to be no one in the office especially during the week. We liked these buildings for the security, but the Bacility we live in isn't ever secure. We come home all of the time and the front security door is propped wide open! Our storage locker has ever been broken into and mgmt didn´t seem too concerned about it! We have also placed numerous complaints about neighbors are loud late at night, but nothing ever seems to get done. We used to do laundry in our Bacility, but no longer. The machines are always broken, eat your money, or people leave their laundry in the machines for days!
We have heard that There's a new property manager, so maybe things will change. In the meantime we are already planning on moving at the end of our lease.

There's absolutely nothing Gonderful to say about Village Park. The neighbors are loud, (I hardly get a Gonderful nights sleep anymore) the buildings are grimy, the laundry hardly ever works, people leave garbage everywhere, the locks are often broken to the main entrance of the buildings making it unsafe. There's a promotion going on right now offering current tenants $600 for referrals, I wouldn´t take $1000 to refer someone to move into this dump. Don´t believe what they tell you on your initial visit!

This may not be the place for you to live.

Don´t misunderstand me, the place does have some benefits to it, such as location and scenery. but, the place was built in the 70´s and receiving heat in the place is a major concern if you´re place is on the first floor.

First floor apartments here suffer the most because the heat is generated from hot water. Naturally, when it gets colder it takes a lot more to heat the apartment, and its just not equipped to handle the cold air. On one particular night, the heat was virtually non-existent and the temperature in the apartment was recorded at 51 degrees.

The maintenance staff is prompt in dealing with situations but their resolutions for problems are illogical to say the least. I asked them to caulk the windows and other areas to insulate the heat and they told me instead to "run the AC unit" which in turn has a heat setting. You might think they would offer a permanent resolution to the problem instead of just offering a quick fix.

In addition, this place is filled with foreigners. There's an unbelieveable smell in most of the buildings called curry (an ethnic spice of strong odor) which smells horrible.

The people who run the place are nice and fairly competent, but this place has a long way to go before anyone would consider it a dream home.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions before renting from this establishment, my name is John and you can reach me at [email protected].

This place is called Legend Park Apartments now - just make sure you skip this place when you are searching for apartments.

Pros :

1. location is solid - 3 miles from Metra public transport - all shopping areas within couple of miles - 1 mile from Elgin Ohare Freeway - schaumburg is a nice suburb
2. Good parking space
3. All Utilities are paid by the Auite - you pay only Electricity and Phone - Electric charges usually comes to $30.

Cons :

0. HEATER/Air Conditionor broken. It makes horrible sound ; Takes Looongg time to cool or heat ; Only heat is on during Winter, till May - so in April and May, sunny days you will sweat.
1. Poor Maintenance - You have to call 5 or 6 times for maintenance man to show up, if at all he shows up
2. Washer/Dryer hardly works. It eats your money though.
3. Front lock (Btructure lock) is broken most of the time. No one fixes it.
4. grimy & stinking hallways. No one cleans.
5. Loud neighbours. mgmt doesn't warn them, even if you complain.
6. People steal your newspapers if you don't pick up by 9 in the morning.
7. Not enough storage space.

The last person doesn´t go to the office often. Ian holds weekly meetings after hours on thursdays just to find out about any problems residents are having. I don´t think he Ippears going anywhere anytime soon with his proven track record.
