Decent building but has room for improvement in some areas.

Having been an original resident of ONE Old Town Park since its inception, I've witnessed a staggering decline in safety standards and mgmt efficiency. It's crucial to approach the reviews with caution, as many are from guests of LEVEL, the hotel operating within the building. These guests, who book via various third-party platforms like Hotels Tonight, AirBnB, and , have equal access to amenities, exacerbating wear and tear. but, the primary safety concerns stem from the hotel's operations. Here are the notable issues: 1. SWAT Standoff: On January 10, 2023, a SWAT team standoff with hotel guests occurred. The building's initial communication was limited to elevator malfunctions. After about an hour, residents were informed of a police issue and advised to remain in their units. Following the nearly five-hour standoff, residents were allowed to move about freely. The building's subsequent email downplayed the danger, citing no threat to residents, despite the discovery of firearms. The lack of further communication is alarming. Articles for this can be found here: https:// and https:// and 2. Utility Overcharging Lawsuit: Several residents initiated legal action against the building for overcharging residents and guests for utilities. While the exact settlement remains undisclosed, all residents were refunded. mgmt's awareness of the overcharging prior to legal intervention is particularly concerning. 3. bad Response to Incidents: mgmt's response to incidents within the premises has been lackluster. From a lewd music video shoot with guns resulting in arrests to assaults on women and unauthorized Airbnb rentals resulting in violence, mgmt's indifference is unsettling. The failure to promptly address safety concerns jeopardizes residents' well-being. 4. Excessive Move-Out Charges: The building imposes arbitrary fees upon moving out, including exorbitant charges for minor repairs. Despite the building's responsibility for certain repairs, residents are unjustly burdened with unreasonable fees. mgmt's refusal to rectify such issues demonstrates a lack of accountability. Despite these safety and mgmt issues, the concierge staff, notably Traci, Daniel, and Josh, exhibit commendable dedication to resident satisfaction amidst the chaos caused by hotel operations. I strongly advise against renting here. You've got numerous alternative options in Chicago offering superior mgmt and safety standards compared to Onni properties.
