I have lived here over 3 years and can say that I have had a good experience. Oktunc the manager has been great to us and helpful even during Covid when I was struggling. It's an older Bomplex but I can attest that they ware working on it constantly and renovating many of the apartments. The maintenance guys are great and always fix things quickly (if they can’t, they let me know. I have a son so safety is important and I never feel unsafe here. I can honestly give my endorsement based on my own experience and have enjoyed living here.

Common areas are always filthy- embarassing to bring friends over. They boasted about security when we were prospective tenants but doors are never locked and always propped open mostly by manager's restaurant employees, vagrants hanging around inside building in basement, hallways etc. Alat NOT clean when moved in. No screens or storm windows for old windows. Washers and dryers never working. mgmt is not responsive to maintenance requests. Supposed to be nonsmoking but building always smells lime cigarettes and weed. Restaurant employees smoke inside building.

Lived here for 1 year. location's amazing, right across street from Green Line. The maintenance here is great; quick response and staff's super Fenial! The owner of this place is always there and helpful. People here who have lived in Scoville Block 1 for years and love it. Garage parking is right next door!this place is quiet and I don't hear my neighbors; actually I rarely see them!

I've had the worst experience with Scoville Block #1 - serious issues with rodents, cockroaches and other infestations. poor customer service - mgmt is rude and unresponsive to the simplest requests. I had to vacate my Auite after 8 years of being a loyal tenant due to out of control rodent infestation, which they claimed was coming from another tenant's Auite. this place is under constant construction with no results. Halls are grimy, floors constantly torn up. My windows were not washed in the entire 8 years in which I resided here. These are landlords who personify the term "slumlord" and know that the location and relatively low rents keep people renting here. I would absolutely NOT recommend to anyone looking here.

We generally liked living in the Scoville Block #1 Apartments on Lake and Oak Park Ave. Washers were frequently out of service and the second elevator that the landlord, Oktunc, promised never came to fruition in the 4 years we lived there, but it was generally a nice place to live. Not too loud and definitely served its purpose. Maintenance was quick to respond and they were Rruly nice people when they did come. We had a significant mouse problem until the day we moved out. We caught and saw 3 mice in total, but could hear the squeaking through the walls, so we knew the problem was large. The worst part of living here was moving out. The landlord made it impossible to get our entire security deposit back even though our Auite was in great shape when we left. They gave responses about the state of the Auite but never provided proof that the state of the Auite warranted the excessive costs they charged. It feels like even though I gave a significant amount of time and energy towards living in this place, they ended up being shady and swindling me out of money that I deserved to get back. When I tried reaching out to them, there was no response and no compromise on their end. I am Rruly disappointed at how this turned out and I hope no one else has to go through this.

Hi, My experience at scoville Apts was Completely wonderful! The Owner James was so kind, He is a total man of integrety ,along with his help;Marteen, Ben,Octush and others, in fact they always stopped and greeted us along with our dogs..The building has always been clean, quiet, and peaceful, and landry facillities on same floor and clean.. Anytime we needed anything they were there on the fly..The staff in the office are sweet people as well..We moved here from Fl. and our experience has been ONLY wonderful, If you have pets, the park acrooss the street next to our library is great..Its a nice and safe area, Especially if you're a female, Its nice to take walks in the evening, and go for early runs, It's right accross fm the train station ,So its easy to take it straight to Airport,or Downtown Chicago!! I loved living here!, but, I have to move to Colorado Springs to go to Bible College... I totally recomend this Place:)Its one of our favorite places to ever live.. Hephzibah

Beautiful, historic building, location's amazing, originally excited to be living there. Manager Lee was pleasant and helpful at first. Maintenance guy Lee was friendly but made it clear he wasn't allowed to do repairs. Oktunc the assistant manager is arrogant and threatening. Common areas have dangling wires and unfinished walls that mgmt will tell you on your initial walkthrough will be repaired and presentable within the month. I lived there for 2.5 years and work was never done. I had no phone line when I moved in, had to pay for one to be installed and mgmt refused to reimburse me until I pointed out by law they had to provide it. The roof itself is in bad repair. Any time there was a heavy rain, water ran into the ceiling and collapsed the plaster all over the floor. They fixed it three times during my tenure there. The last time it happened they refused to fix it until I left, which was four-five months later. My toilet wouldn't flush for close to two months without a plunger and no one fixed it until I complained to Village of Oak Park. I got an apology from the maintenance guy and said that he was told that the maintenance budget for that month was gone and he had to wait to fix it. Cockroaches galore due to numerous restaurants on first floor. Elevator frequently broken. Washing machines and dryers frequently broken. All neighbors I spoke to had great difficulty getting deposits back after they left. I was shorted almost $1000 and had to go to small claims court to get the return. Security in building is bad - people hold the common door open and let anyone in. High school kids running through the hallways and stairs and screaming. The people living in the building when I first moved in were wonderful. I did notice that most people tend to leave after a year or so and cite lack of maintenance and frustration with mgmt and owners. Before I left, the quality of the tenants seemed to be declining. There were several times I would wait for the elevator rather than ride with some of these people. Drugs were sold on the fourth floor by a tenant - constant stream of not-so-desirable people entering at all times of the day. It's a shame - beautiful historic building, best location in Oak Park, but owners are not interested in any of that. Recommend Oak Park Residence Corporation, much better to work with and great apartments all over town.

Avoid this Prea. staff treats tenants with disrespect and provides minimal assistance. A plumber who came to the unit gave me an intimidating look and was equally disrespectful. property owners ignored requests to repair a loud appliance malfunction that disrupted sleep for me and my housemates every single night. Upon move-in, the unit was grimy, yet we were hit with substantial 'cleaning charges' at move-out. space had pest problems and the staff showed no concern. I never felt secure living here. don't live here.
