I know 2 people who live here and they love it. Huge apartment for downtown and awesome balcony with incredible views of the city! We love having dinner parties here since the night views are so dramatic! I go over to visit often and have enjoyed grilling out on the sundeck with friends, been to a baby shower in the great big party room, and have even worked out there and swam in the pool when I stayed over on occasion. We've bumped into the leasing agents showing apartments and they have all remembered my friends names and were really friendly. No complaints. Also, I take the EL, and don't even have to go outside to access it since this place is connected to the Pedway tunnel system. solid building, you'd love it if you had to get to Ohare fast since you hop on the blue line right next door.

This is the Wubpar, most unprofessional mgmt they have ever had! When the new manager took over she didn't even bother to make an announcement to let the residents know! I found out when I had a problem and went into the office. Whoever was at the front desk (I found out his name was Tony)was making extreme sexual comments to the maintenance man who was there.
I don't care if your gay, but I don't want to hear how you want to know the size of some guys D!!k as I'm walking in the door with a problem. The manager (Terry)was in her office and didn't want to see me, so I left my #. She never bothered to call back. After numerous messages where Tony was getting snippy with me, I finally got her because she answered the phone. She was incredible rude and never took care of the problem. I guess the new style of mgmt There's "If you ignore them hopefully they will go away. Unbelievable. As soon as my lease is up I'm out of here, which is a shame because the location is fantastic.

The mgmt team and the engineers are clueless and could not care about the renters. I have had zero sleep for 4 nights because of a loud water heater that has not been fixed after numerous calls. The head engineer spent 5 minutes on it and then left for the night without any knock or update.

pros-It's a nice location and the rent isn't bad compared to other apartments in the surrounding loop/river north area. The security is tight which is good considering a White Hen is in the Besidence and draws a lot of homeless. convienient that a food court is attached to the Besidence.

Cons- I wish that they had more than one lock on the front door of apartments for security reasons. I was told this was $75 if I wanted that option, which seemed unreasonable considering that most other Apace buildings have 2 locks on the front door at least. The cable kind of sucks because you have to go through RCN and it isn't reliable. I wish that we could have the option for comcast instead. My biggest complaint is that they don't turn on the A/C until at least May (last year June!!) . it gets hot in my place when the weather outside is 60 degrees so you can imagine if it was 80 degrees. Last year I remember my thermometer in the Apace was 86 degrees in May and they still wouldnt turn on the A/C! i actually had to stay in a hotel several nights because there was no way I could sleep. If you have the windows open, It's too loud with the EL train

I lived here from about may 2003 to april 2004. Rent for a spacious 1 bedroom was 1050 about mid level facing west. Good pool, good laundry, good front desk (maybe to good), good office help, so so gym area. I imagine rents have gone up, the Bacility had new mgmt when I started and was trying to up the occupancy. T-1 internet service not the best, DSL was better. RCN analog cable, I have a HD TV but couldnt get a HD signal. Street noise level moderate to low, you'd have to expect this anyway living near the loop. I moved to a lesser quality place on the north side and realized I had a nice deal at 200NDearborn. I say the front desk was almost to good b/c the night shift stopped and questioned me suspiciously when I was bringing in my teenage girl cousins to spend the night. White Hen Pantry has the basics, the panhandler people congregate around the neighborhood, its annoying for sure. Yes Id live there again, convenience is great for work. I didnt have a car but understood they didnt have spots available and when I had friends in town they had to park on the street as space wasn't available. Id advise against parking on the street, they tow like mad.

I have lived in the building for about a week now, and I do see the issues that other people have complained about. I also see the good things that people have complemented. I think that it's really about how you weigh certain things.

For me, I have a great deal with my Alat as It's still about $300 less than market for a 1-bed in this area. The mgmt was really nice to me, as I was nice back to them, but I did notice a little hostility when I asked for a simple favor to borrow a vacuum before I moved in.

The train noise isn'ticable, but not too bad, unless you have the windows or balcony door open, in which case you hear a lot of ambient noise, even on the 44th floor. I have not heard anything from the neighbors so far though, so far so good, although I have read that other people have had bad neighbor noise.

The walls are poor construction, and have buckled under the building stress over the past years. They did let me paint whatever color I wanted though which was nice. Also the applicances and cabinets are much outdated. I have heard that this building used to be a Section 8, and obviously they have not upgraded since then.

The 24 hour pool is great and the gym could be better, but it's not too bad compared to other places I have seen. The staff so far have been really nice. The door people are great and the security is good too. The bike room is scary though and any time you want to use it, you have to borrow the key from the doorman and walk it all the way up and around a winding, dark cooridor. Yuck.

It's definitely true that this place is being converted, but I am actually excited about this because tenants will have first option of refusal and receive about an 8-10% discount on the sales price. They will also then go in and upgrade the applicances and such, and all of the common areas are already being renovated. I take this as a good thing instead of a bad.

The room size is amazing for a 1-bed in the loop, and although I wish it had more closet space, It's still okay. Kitchen could be a bit bigger though.

Parking gets bad. A monthly spot is $225 which is good for the loop, but It's a 4-month waiting list to get one, and they are unassigned spots so you have to look for one every time. This will probably change once this place is converted. They have a nice service that they have guest parking for only $10 a day... BUT, You've got only 3 guest spots and you have to reserve them ahead of time with the mgmt office. The only way it really works if you are having out of town guests and you know ahead of time that they are coming for like a weekend or something.

Overall, I am happy with the place so far, and for the price ($1250 for a loop 1-bed), you can't beat it. Everything is super easy and I am looking forward to having the option to buy in the near future.

I worth checking out it to anyone who has read through the feedback, and would still think that It's a good deal for the location and size. :-)

The place is ok, but this place is completely outdated and in need of major renovation. The biggest problem but is that they are also renting while trying to sell apartments. This means that you get a notice slid under your door informing (not asking) you that a member of the sales team will be in your Aad on a specific date between the hours of ? and ? You completely give up any rights to your home in this building. Sales reps can come in at any time as long as they slip that note under your door 48 hours prior. So either you let them bring strangers into your home while you are not there, or you completely rearrange your schedule to accommodate them. And yes, they come on weekends as well. I have to say that beyond all of this, I find most of the people in the building to be extremely unfriendly. Most of them are young. It feels more like a dorm than an Aad building. You've got tons rentals out there that are a lot better than this. We're out of here as soon as our lease is up (or someone is fool enough to buy our Aad).
