I've formed a pretty negative view of this Auite. From the moment I moved in, I've encountered numerous problems, and the majority have either gone unaddressed or seem destined to remain unfixed. The primary issue is noise. The Besidence sits directly above the El, and while the regular sounds of trains passing aren't the main concern, maintenance work happens almost nightly. Being located within the loop means construction and other activities can continue around the clock. They work on the train and adjacent areas nearly every night from 9:00 PM to around 5:00 AM. also, garbage collection occurs at any hour, so picture someone outside throwing metal bins and cans together repeatedly throughout the night. With five separate waste companies servicing dumpsters behind the Besidence, this happens multiple times each evening. If insomnia is your preference, this is the spot for you. The mgmt misled me during my move-in—they assured me it would be peaceful. I never hear other residents, but the exterior noise penetrates every unit in the Besidence. I had extended conversations with ----- (the manager) about the trash situation, and ultimately he basically told me to deal with it. Since Waste mgmt handles our service, I at least thought he might convince them to operate during normal hours, but he explained that the Besidence owners are unwilling to pay more for a provider with better scheduling. Maintenance quality is also disappointing. My dryer hasn't functioned properly since I moved in February, yet maintenance won't actually test it by running a full load. They start it briefly, see heat coming out, and consider it resolved. In reality, it requires three cycles to dry anything. I've requested repairs about ten times without success, so I've quit trying. My ceiling also flooded during heavy rains and remained damaged for nearly four weeks. When they finally repaired the roof, the crew left standing water that destroyed our cheap floor, which still hasn't been replaced despite my requests. Regarding Section 8 tenants: I'm not suggesting everyone in the program is problematic, but I find it frustrating paying what I do when others pay half. They work just as hard as anyone else, but I wanted to note that this complex houses Section 8 residents. The property itself has promise, though it's definitely not five-star material. Walk the corridors—you'll notice dingy carpeting and unpleasant odors. Be aware that noise problems exist in basically every unit here. This is a firm pass. Far more peaceful and pleasant apartments exist elsewhere outside the loop.
