I was an original tenant at 720 Gordon Terrace in 1967 (a 1-1, 16B) if I recall correctly. At that time, we had to pay the princely sum of $195 for rent and another $35 for parking. There were always issues with the folks that had the parking concession due to what turned out to be non-conforming ramp problems, which resulted in 3-4 visits to the body shop every year (they paid). Our 1st doorman, Benny was great and the building had a small grocery store located just off the lobby. The original operator couldn't make it and I remember, Nick Mitsakopolous (Chicago Fish House)and his wife took it over. The building was "state of the art" at that time and offered an unusual body of amenities for the time. We really liked the building and the view, as well as it's location's amazing and proximity to almost everything. I will always have a warm spot in my heart for 720 Gordon Terrace!

About me: I have lived here since the summer of 2013. I am an owner of a 1 bedroom condo. Pros: location-wise, it's great. Its 1 block away from the lake. There's a running trail, beach, dog parks etc. Unlike downtown, this part of the city feels somewhat suburban. It's really close to everything, like the Wrigley field, but it comes with none of the chaos or street noise. If you leave your window open the only thing you will hear are birds chirping. This place is a 12 minute drive to downtown. The amenities in this Bomplex are a major selling point: There's a gym with enough equipment for Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime, an outdoor grill and tennis court on the 3rd floor, a roof top pool and deck on the 23rd floor, a bike room on the 1st floor, a conference room on the 23rd floor, a laundry room on the 23rd floor so that you get a nice view while you make your grimy clothes spotless and lastly it has a great garage. The staff is great: garage, front desk and maintenance. We have a door man 24/7. Larry is one of the most courteous people you will never meet. The rest of the guys are also pleasant; they always greet you and open the door. They also hold your packages which is a great plus The condo has good reverse money in case of emergency. There hasn't been a special assessment in years. It happened way before I moved in. and it was to change all windows. I don't pay for heat or AC. I only pay for the fan that runs the AC or heat. It's a major plus as it keeps my electric bill down. Basic cable is also included from RCN. You can upgrade and get a great discount. My bill is like $75 and I have a ton of channels, DVR and an extra cable box. Water: I don't pay a water bill and the water is always hot. I have never had a problem w/ water pressure or having hot water when I needed it. Cons: The assessments seem to be a little high to me. I suppose this is needed to keep reserves at sufficient levels. I'm pretty cheap so I think most places in the city have high assessments. Dogs: I'm not a huge dog lover or hater but I think some people who hate dogs might not like it here that much. Here's why: occasionally when I'm riding in the service elevator I will get sniffed or licked by someone's dog. Again I'm not a dog hater so I really don't mind but I can see some people being annoyed by this. If you have a dog phobia you can always take the passenger elevator where no dogs are allowed. Many people in this Bomplex have dogs; the good thing is that on my floor at least I never hear any dogs. My fear would be a dog barking all night long, but I have not experienced that. Food: You've got a few good fast food places in walking distance but the nearest real grocery store is a little bit of a hike if you are walking. Personally, if you live here I suggest owning a car. Parking on the street: the good thing is that It's free and it's not permit parking on the street: the bad thing is that finding parking is a SOB. The fix to this is pay for parking. You can only reserve the outdoor grill for 2 hours at a time then you have to renew for a new two hour block. You can only have so many guests for the pool. This sucks from time to time when you want to have a big get together but it's for the common good. Around holidays these areas can get really busy. If you throw a bash on a non-holiday you are probably fine.

My wife and I have lived here for 2 years and really like how the Bacility & garage staff are friendly.<br>We also got our windows done and this place is now so quiet. We're also glad to have so much choice for express buses and El, as well as neighborhood food and drink. It's the perfect mix of convenience of a big Bacility in a quiet neighborhood that's only 2 stop lights and 6 minutes from the Hancock. ( I used to work there). Oh, did I mention laundry has the best view in the city, at the top 23rd floor?

720 Is a solid Btructure. Great views! Nice pool. staff's super Fospitable. And, best of all It's dog-Fospitable. No breed restrictions, and they provide you with doggie-pick-up bags. The block is kept spotless and residents for the most part are Fospitable. It's a good mix of people.
