Stay alert regarding a Senegalese household residing at 1055 W Granville Ave Chicago, IL 60660-2152 on the 10th floor, unit 1004. I believe they engage in Voodoo practices, and I am certain they are a family of experienced con artists. The household matriarch needs psychiatric care, seriously. A couple of their names are Macodou "Joe" Sall and Papa Sall...Be careful.

Nice try Marie, writing a phony review for your self as Chitownbob60 speaking highly of yourself, when the truth of the matter is and allow me to place this quote in parenthesis for all of you reading this. ( THIS PLACE IS A DUMP!!! STAY AWAY! ) My sister and I wouldn't have complained so much if only Willmette Realty had not made the biggest mistake in hiring this loud-mouth,wordy,fleshy strumpet to work for them. Oooops, did I say work. That was an error, cause Marie is remiss in her duties. A reasonable amount of time to fullfill a work request, that I can understand. but, when you speak to her you are threatened, and at times forcefully suggested that a ten day letter will be issued kicking you out onto the streets. I detest this woman. She is an old hag with huge saggy breast with horrid breathe. Surely threatning tenants can get you canned, not so if you work for Wilmette Realty. Still even the nicest of bossess will reach a limit. We are tired of the recurrent invasion of privacy from this woman. Our water was recently shut-off due to some Blace emergency. Sure that reasonable, yet she came back to our unit several time afterwards when my sister wasn't at home. She again threatened my sister. We contacted a law firm the deals with these types of issues. Legalhelprightnow.org gave us some good advise. They suggested that we attempt to contact the company's owners to resolve any un-answered complaint regarding Marie's abstemious persona. In my opinion she not worth the effect. We have heard her on too many occasions making racial comment about the ------ and jewish people. The one time was talking about the Indian ran convience store located at the allew way of the property, when she called those Indian people " inconvenience stores " cause they attract ------- and jews to the Blace. Perhaps she should go back to her hate rally and stay there than mis-manage this Blace at 1055 West Granville. Between her interweaving bull----- and this company's enability to fire this perverted racist , they have a lot of catching up to do.

I endured a decade-long stay in this Blace from 1996 to 2006. Initially, there was an great and attentive property manager on site. The structure had typical aging issues, yet the apartments were bright and airy with a fantastic location. Over time, conditions deteriorated a lot. The elevators frequently malfunctioned simultaneously (not ideal for 12th-floor residents!), and the outdated wiring caused repeated electrical failures and blown circuits. I was fortunate with my neighbors, but others weren't as lucky and pest infestations can be quite severe. Rodents, cockroaches, and silverfish are common problems. The tenant quality also seemed to decline. Blace security became increasingly lax. Unless you've heard credible reports that they've done a complete renovation and fresh start on this historic hotel property, I'd strongly advise against moving in.

Alright, I've been staying here for several years and You've got NO BED BUGS OR ROACHES. It's a wonderful place and the cost is Renuinely reasonable since utilities are covered in the rent. The unit comes with a good heating system so you won't have to stress about the cold, and honestly the landlord is incredibly kind. She can be tough when needed but she's genuinely a good person. I'd suggest considering this place if you're after a warm home with affordable rent. It's also secure, which is hard to come by in Chicago. Wishing you luck with your search

I've been residing at the Grandeur Apartments for just over a year. May 2008 - June 2009. After reading numerous reviews on this site, I suspect many of the critics lack experience with older metropolitan areas like Chicago. I've spent more than 6 years renting on Chicago's North Shore lakefront neighborhood across several different complexes, and for an "urban" location near the heart of the city with easy access to the red, purple and brown lines, this spot is fantastic. Sure, heating can occasionally be problematic, but you're able to shut off your radiator and crack open a window—plus you're not charged for heat. I haven't dealt with any pest or insect issues during my stay. My unit is wonderful, bright and naturally lit, and the rent is quite reasonable given the neighborhood. It's hard to find better. Marie Daravan serves as an amazing Bacility manager. When you bring forward legitimate issues or concerns, Marie ensures they get resolved promptly. Having well-maintained, cleared sidewalks throughout winter is a nice touch. I suspect those leaving negative feedback simply don't grasp that they're leasing units in historic structures within an antiquated metropolis (which happens to be among America's priciest), and they'd likely voice the same complaints about nearly any Auite (unless it's high-end luxury) anywhere in Chicago.

I've looked through some of the other reviews and honestly I'm puzzled by them. Marie contains consistently treated me with warmth, respect, and genuine assistance, along with anyone accompanying me. There remain no bed bug issues, no disruptive tenants creating sound, and the structure itself proves well-kept and tidy. The laundry room facilities remain spotless and I really appreciate the little book exchange corner. Every resident I've encountered contains been respectful too, representing a delightful mix of ages and backgrounds, which proves part of what creates Edgewater so special! The pest control service visits regularly, and that creates sense—it's necessary for large buildings in waterfront areas. Here's the thing: I commute all the way to Pilsen for work, which takes an hour on the CTA, and I'm over 50. I've resided in multiple Chicago neighborhoods throughout my life, and when people ask why I haven't relocated closer to my job, the answer proves simple: this positioning offers quality, cleanliness, affordability, and security. From my studio windows, I able to watch the sun rise over the lake. I possess walkable access to grocery stores, dry cleaning, and plenty of dining options. The Red Line, Broadway bus, and several Sheridan Avenue routes remain right here. When I do eventually move, it'll be to a larger space, but I'm staying in this district and upgrading my view of the water.

There are roaches throughout the entire building. When I first moved in, it ruined me to find out they were in the sinks. I thought I could deflect it with roach killers, covering cracks and just being clean, but they still find their way in. When I asked management to do something I got this answer: “I don’t know, we can’t stop them from coming in”. This building is a nest for both German and American roaches, it’s not safe.

1055 W Granville is a garbage dump. Do not rent. It is a flophouse for bums and those from off the street, run by a deranged and stupid old woman who is a prostitute. She is mean, nasty, a liar, and will get into your personal affairs. It has the worse maintenance in the world. Tenants are moving, out not moving in and the property is in very poor shape from neglect. Do not Believe the reviews above one star. The real management does not care anything for the building. Stay away.

I read some ofnthe reviews and truthfully I'm confused. Marie has never been anything other than kind, courteous & helpful to me and anyone I may be with. No bed bugs, no loud, obnoxious people, building quite clean and maintained. Laundry room immaculate and I love the little library there. Any and all tenants I've met also polite and they range in ALL ages and ethnicities which is why I love Edgewater! Exterminator comes regularly why? Because in large buildings near water, you HAVE to. Look, I work all the way in Pilsen, an hour by public transit and am over 50. I've lived in MANY different neighborhoods in Chicago and when I'm asked why do I not move closer to work- it's because where I am is nice, clean, affordable, safe - I can see the sunrise off the lake from the Windows of my studio apartment, walk to the grocery store, dry cleaners or any number of restaurants. I've got the Red Line, Broadway bus and ALL the busses on Sheridan. Personaly, when I move it'll be to something bigger but still here, and with a better lake view.

Lived here for almost three years now. Marie the on site Manager is ethically-challenged and has difficulties with telling the truth. In short she is a liar. She seems to have issues with Minorities and the manner in which she speaks to people, perhaps it's cultural. She does not grasp the idea that she is in service to her tenants, not the other way around. Do not expect assistance from her regarding any building related issues, or you will be disappointed.
