I have lived at 930 W.Winona for 3 years and I never had any complaints. The place is always clean, well-maintained, repairs are done on time, etc. The landlord, Jim, is by the far the best landlord I have ever encountered. He is very attentive and have always made sure that I was happy, comfortable, safe, and satisfied living in my studio. There are new laundry machines downstairs and a great security set up with double doors. Outside of maintenance, everything is nearby: the L, stores like Mariano's, and not to mention the yummy shops in Asia town and Andersonville. I would highly recommend living at 930 W. Winona because you will always be taken care of and will be able to live in maintained and clean apartment.

Jim is the best landlord I've ever had. I lived in a studio Fall 2012-Fall 2013, the only reason I moved was because of a job opportunity in another state. The building is kept incredibly clean and well monitored. There is a covered, gated, parking lot below the building with spots available for purchase. This is also where the bike racks are located. A BIG plus to be able to store your bike in a fenced location! Laundry room on site. Heat is included in rent and works well. Hardwood floors in most units, and Jim will paint one of the walls in the living space as an accent wall for you. The best part of living at 930 W Winona was the management; Jim was OK with me subleasing my unit when I was away for two months. He was incredibly helpful with maintenance issues, it is clear that he takes pride in his work and the building. I was sad to leave!

I feel unbelievable lucky to live at this residence. I have lived here for almost 6 years, and I don't recall every having a complaint about the building. The landlord and building owner is VERY professional. He is constantly keeping the premises spotless. He has exterminators come to the building every four months, like clockwork to keep the building bug free. I had an infestation scare a few years ago. I was so sure I was going to be charged for exterminators or even evicted. I was frantic and he was very calm and instructed me what to do and didn't charge me for the extermination. He is very quick to respond to any issues that may arise and is very sympathetic to any problems his tenants might have. The location of the building is perfect too. Decently quiet block, very close to the lake, 3 beaches, a large grocery store, Subway, McDonalds, numerous bus routes including an express to Michigan Ave, redline, the list goes on. If I were to have any complaints, it would be the squeaky floors. I live on the top floor so I'm not bothered by others squeaking. However, the floors in my carpeted apartment are very squeaky. While I'm never stomping around when I come home from working my night job, I can only hope that its not too squeaky to keep my downstairs neighbor up all night. 6 years in and I DREAD the day when this stay has to come to an end.

The On-Site contact person is unprofessional, unfair and has no compassion for apartment seekers. After confirming my appointment, he denied me the opportunity to view this apartment after traveling over 8 miles each way in heavy traffic on public transportation. I arrived to view this apartment, ring this guy's bell and he gives me some lame excuse that the current lease is going to be renewed. He didn't give me the opportunity to even enter the building or give me other options.

I lived at 930 W. Winona for 2 years until I recently moved out of state. It is very reasonably priced, very clean and well maintained, close to just about everything (from an express bus that will have you in the heart of downtown Chicago in about 10 mins to a variety of grocery stores, banks, restaurants all within walking distance. The real gem for me was being able to get out and walk/ run next to the water. I enjoyed my last two years there...I highly recommend this place!

I have lived at 930 W. Winona for about 5 years (before and after the change in management). It remains a well-managed, clean and affordable property. Currently, it is managed by a couple (as kind and responsive as I've come across). The property is conveniently located near: multiple bus routes (I use the 147), the Red line, a dry cleaners at the corner of the block, a Dominick's grocery store (around the corner on Foster), and the park and Foster Avenue Beach/lake front. Also, there is an active block club (I hadn't seen that in a while). My first apartment in this building was a studio. When I got married I moved into a one bedroom apartment on the same floor. I was pleased by the size and condition of both apartments. My neighbors are courteous. I have always rented a parking space for my car so I have no complaints about that. I have and will continue to recommend this property.

As of today, March 6, 2012, the apartment 930 W Winona St, Chicago, IL is nearly a perfect place for the given price. I am renting 1 bed room apartment. The excellent part is a hardwood, double door lobby safety, overall safety, cleanness, no dogs, a lot of space, very reasonable price, never problems with maintenance, nice landlord, and more ... Unperfect parts are: Personally, I don't like insufficient sound isolation and the night noise from my upper neigbours: It is nearly everyday's annoyance during 300 days, listen yourself: http://landkey.net/p2p/un/Dear_Neighbors/index.htm It did not stop despite all these complains. The renting become a trap because of 1 year lease term. This is why I am going to leave this apartment at the end of the lease although hate looking for new place and hate moving. There are two other minor unperfect parts: one of them is occasional cigarette's smoke and kitchen smell from corridor which does not go away even if to open a window. Konstantin. The tenant.

The building is no longer managed by Banner, but was bought by a couple and it's dba Winona Management LLC. It's well managed, clean with daily maintenance by the owner. It's pretty quiet, too. As a 4-plus-one, it doesn't have the sound insulation of a concrete highrise, but the great majority of tenants are considerate. Laundry room is on the first floor, good apartment layouts, cat-friendly, recyling dumpster besides those for trash. Owner are responsive to requests and if there's a big problem (rare), the response is asap. Multi-locks on apartment doors (3) and security entrances (double set of front doors) with cameras. There are multiple bus routes -- 144 and 136 weekdays, 146, 147 and 151. Close to Red Line and a block from Lincoln Park. All buildings on the block, except this one and two others, are condo conversions and the competition to have the best garden is a benefit to all people on the street. 930 Wnona has nice plantings, too. There is an active block club, too (Carmen-Winona Block Club).

If you want a quiet building, a building that's kept clean and close to transportation and shopping, this is it. It's also next to a park and the beach. The management is responsive to request.

I've lived here for a short time and I have had a great experience. The management is great, no complaints whatsoever... I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a nice, clean, quite place surrounded by the hustle of city life.
