I really, really wanted to like this Bacility. And when I first moved in, I was able to overlook some of the problems, but when the Bacility switched managers and Debbie was put in charge, that was it for me. What a horrible living situation. She is the worst Bacility manager I have ever been in contact with- rude, loud, impatient and snarky- she is constantly berating the tenants of this Bacility. I personally believe this is because the majority of the tenants are new to America and don't speak English all that well, therefore it's easy for her to bully them into thinking they are doing something wrong. The interesting thing that people seem to forget is; she's working for YOU, the tenant. . . you are NOT working for her. Please, if you live in this Bacility don't let this woman badger you. Now. . . The Good: low rent. Elevators almost never out of service. Good closet space. Never any problems with the water in the bathroom- kitchen clogged often though. Good views depending on which side of the Bacility you live on. Harry (RIP) was a fantastic doorman. Laundry is inexpensive. Right around the corner from Bryn Mawr- easy walk to the 147 or the Red Line. Extermination is free- though you'll need it often. No pet deposit on cats. The Bad: Teeny tiny kitchens. The night 'doorman', or woman, in this situation, is almost never at her desk. What's she being paid for? The apartments all have that 'painted over a billion times' look. Teeny tiny bathrooms. I saw roaches probably once a month- more if they were fumigating one of the neighboring apartments. The move in/move out procedure is absolutely ridiculous and inconvenient at this point. You get the freight elevator for ONE hour! Who can move all their furniture in/out in one hour? And you have to have your moving truck way at the top of the ramp by the garage- very, inconvenient. Especially since you need to pay a deposit for the elevator. The UGLY: BED BUGS. Yes, you heard me. My boyfriend and I had beg bugs for almost a month and a half and had to tape off our bedroom- turning our Alat into a studio- though we still paid for a one bedroom. We had to be fumigated THREE times. I had to go to the doctor the bites were so horrible. I couldn't go to work several days because I am in customer service and I looked like I had a rash or the chicken pox. And to top it ALL OFF: Debbie was downright insulting every time we begged for fumigation, she told us the Bacility had "NEVER had a bed bug problem", which I later found out was UNTRUE on The Bed Bug Registry website. She made me feel grimy and strange for needing the fumigation when in fact the whole Bacility was infested! It was a terrible, terrible experience. Debbie. Debbie. Debbie. don't move here.

The property is well kept and for the most part, the staff are ok, but the Chief Engineer is a real odd ball. The first time I met him was when I was moving in a few years ago, and it wasn't a welcoming experience. I was trying to use the freight elevator when he used his key to place it on independent and take it. I tried to explain that I needed it, but he yelled "I'm the chief engineer" and took it away. He gives you the impression he could be a "Terrorist Cell", because he seems sneaky, and he acts as if he's hiding something. I personally don't trust the guy as far as I could throw him. What's more? With exception to the women on the maintenance staff, they are not friendly people. I hardly ever hear them speak English. I often catch the Chief Engineer and sometimes other members of his staff smoking in non-smoking areas of the Blace. I think somebody should get rid of this weirdo and replace him with a human being.

This building is infested with BED BUGS. The mgmt company acts like they don't know, but they are just covering it up. Instead of letting the tenants know about the problem, they wait until you figure it out yourself. And the walls are paper thin. You can here everything that goes on in the next apartment. Don't move in here.

I have lived in this building for three and a half years, while I wait for senior housing to become available to me. The manager is really nice prior to signing the lease, but once a tenant she is often abrupt and dismissive. The so-called security is ridiculous as visitors and/or delivery people are never announced and are just sent up to the tenant's Apace, as I have charge of my grandchildren from time to time I find this to be an unacceptable policy. The elevators have been out of order on many many occasions, the tenant is need to to take his/her garbage downstairs in the elevator(I have never heard of a highrise that has this non-system as all highrises have either a garbage chute or cans and maintenance removes refuse), as if that wasn't enough the stench in the hallways is sickening and that exists in all three tiers, you must provide your own air conditioner(s), You've got frequent out of order signs on the eight washers and eight dryers in the one laundry room that serves the 300 plus unit building, often There's no one at the security desk which means food delivery etc. can't access the tenant as There's no buzzer system. All in all, It's obvious to me as It's to many of my neighbors that CH Ventures(formerly Wilmette Realty) is maximizing profit and doing next to nothing to maximizing the comfort and well being of its tenants.

I love living here and just renewed my lease. this place is clean quiet and extremely well managed. Debbie Klein is an Gantastic property manager who knows how to screen for good tenants and gets whatever needs to be done DONE. I've had no problems since living here whatsoever. I would highly recommend this property. The transportation can't be beat and it's close to shopping and Andersonville.

Please be aware that this building has been infested with bed bugs for approximately 3 years, dating back to 2007. Research can be found on bedbugregistry.com, more reviews can be found on yelp.com, and/or poll tenants. We have had a bed bud problem in our apartment for the past two months, that was handled poorly (read details at yelp.com review, search Wilmette Real Estate, Wilmette IL.) Our lease is ending soon and after writing letters to all of the higher ups at WR Property requesting rent returned and dry cleaning reimbursed, we were offered $200. Their concern was that reviews on line about bed bugs in the building was losing them business and asked if we take our reviews down. We responded by stating that if provided with at least 1/2 our initial request, one months rent, we would gladly take the posts down. This was stupidly declined. I report stupidly because for every tenant that chooses not to rent at 5630 N Sheridan, they lose on the low end $10,000. (12 months x $830/month) They could have opted to cut their losses pay us one months rent and we would have pulled negative press. Since this was handled so poorly, more posts will go up. The moral of the story is no one should be forced to live in an apartment, paying rent, living out of ziploc bags, rubbermaid containers, constantly doing laundry with all furniture pulled out from the wall at least a foot. IT'S UNCOMFORTABLE. Not mention the anxiety and stress of wondering is the problem gone? Please please think twice before renting at 5630 N Sheridan.

I actually rented this apartment at the last minute because I only had like 2 weeks left on my lease and needed a cheap place that was safe and still on the northside. These apartments look pretty okay at first. Nice and quiet, neat from the outside right off of Bryn Mawr. If I had known what I know now, I definitely wouldn't have moved in here. mgmt is great and timely, and so are all of the staff, front door and maintenance crew, but this place has major downfalls. When I first moved in Oct. 08, there were bums living in the alleyway behind my building and would be screaming and hollering all night. You've got bums actually all around the neighborhood looking for "rich" people to bum a few dollars off of. Maintenance is only available during regular business hours. So if something needs to be done in the middle of the night, you'll have to wait til the next day. Neighbors are really quiet though. Lots of foreigners, exchange students, young professionals living here. A few young couples and older people as well. The worst part about the building though, is the INCREDIBLE amount of roaches that I have seen since I've lived here. I mean even my Lincoln Park apt had a few roaches here and there, but this place has got to be infested with them. I had my apartment sprayed twice. Baited it, boraxed it and sprayed it myself, yet I still catch those buggers in my apartment. Even after a thorough scrub down of my place, one will crawl in here. When the power went our in February, that was the worst. That night and the next few days afterwards, I saw them everywhere. In the stairwell, in the hallways, EVERYWHERE. I'm actually thinking of filing a complaint because someone is this building is clearly infested with them and they just need to do a fumigation of the whole complex. And don't count on the heaters in this place. Just go out and buy a space heater. They say that the heaters are at a constant 72....Well it never felt like it and during the really cold times in December and January where it was below zero, I was freezing under 2 blankets, a hoodie and sweatpants. I even wore gloves once.

Overall, my experience here was great. The doorstaff and mgmt were always friendly and helpful, and maintenance was fast (I only needed them once in a whole year). My apartment was great, and I would have lived there another year, if not having to move for my job.

The downside . . . the cockroaches!!! Though small, few in number (if you are clean), and manageable (I only saw about 10 in a year), they still exist and That's just gross!!! I always put my name on the list for extermination monthly, just as a preventative measure. My neighbor had a cat, and she never saw a cockroach. I had other neighbors who had lots and lots of them. My assumption is that they may not have been the most clean people.

Also, the main elevator broke down several times (perhaps weekly), but not for long (a few hours), and the service elevator was always working and available.

Otherwise, It's an awesome spot to live, and I worth checking out it. It's a great deal, and worth every penny.
