South commons is the worse place to live ever, my appartments had bedbugs all over and I have been bitten several times and I gave it to my mom which has been bitten several times, they had to close down the laundry room for weeks to get rid of them and then months later my appartment and the people next door has them. So I moved out and they had the nerve to want to charge me a move out fee, Can you believe it!!!! This building is terrible, management is terrible!!!! Dont ever move their unless you like bedbugs and love to itch!!!! I hate it my skin is all broken out. Worse place ever to live!!!!!!!

Management sucks, its always cold in the winter very cold especially if you have a broken patio like mine that neither landlord or management will fix. Maintance never shows up and if your cute you will be always hit on by the maintance or security. Mainly the Maintance guys though. Oh and always lots of noise in the hallways, my neighbors like to come in the hallway and talk on there cell phones in another language very loudly. And when they are done they slam the door.

the worst management i've ever found. they are not at all responsible. they just take it for granted about the residents, and not at all concerned about them. please dont take risk of coming and staying here, leave alone buying a condo. its not at all a gud place to live..

I own and live in the 3041 S. Michigan Building. I have some concerns about not having a regular security guard at our door at all times or walking around the building the way they use to but since the district is safe its not that big of a deal. The building has a hostel like feeling to it. Majority of people that live in this building are either IIT students or older people (40 ) The tenants have a good understanding and we look out for each other (some more than others) but over all the enviroment feels like home and in my case it is. The management could do a better job with staffing issues and take some customer service classes to help them have a better relationship with the home owners or renters. After all we are the ones that pay their salaries. Anyone interested in moving into one of the South Common buildings should speak to a renter or a home owner about their opinion on the building, they would be able to give you more details and not the ones that are sugar coated. Also the individual interested in renting or buying a condo should check the building out for themselves and not go by the opinions of others because that individual might have a different agenda. I hope my review has helped you and if you decide to purchase a condo or rent one. I would like to Welcome you to the family, The South Common Family.

I'm a resident of 3001 South Michigan avenu, Chicago,IL. while the apartment is cozy , I regret to add that the management is not very helpful. I believe Community Specialists is the current management after Sudler. With the new management I hoped things would get better but i could not be more wrong. No matter what issue(security or maintenance) we call them about, the answer comes right away saying "I've called the concerned people, left a message and I do not know when they will show up"...the 'i do not know' statement is added as a warning mesg saying don't call me back. I'm surprised at the carelessness and irresponsible behavior but not dare say anything, knowing the consequences and not intending to be a direct target. I wish people who take the calls do not take their frustrations on the callers, rather understand the urgency of the situation called about and try to

I don't own a condo, but I rent one from an owner. While the building itself is nice, the critters we share it with are not. We have had roaches the entire 11 months I've lived there, and EVERY floor has them; it's not just a few unlucky tenants. My boyfriend has woken up on numerous occassions with welts on his hands and arms from bed bugs (seriously). We have had the place fumigated for roaches on 4-5 occassions to no avail. An exterminator was supposed to come twice for the bed bugs, and never showed. My advice is to buy, get renters, and live in a nice place until real estate prices go through the roof in that area like they're supposed to. Unless you like roaches and bed bugs. Your call. And don't even get me started on Management. Please note that I lived at 3001 S. Michigan, not the Indiana Street location mentioned above.

I have lived in my South Commons condo for 4 years now. It remains a fantastic condo-community. We have a strong condo association. We got rid of the previous management, we voted out the hack Association officers and we have a new security company. You see, change is good. I continue to love my community and condominium. I'll post some photos.

I disagree is a very good place to live....secure, guards, electronic security...two parks crossing the street, police station a block away, hospital and the best 5 minutes away from Dontown Chicago and incredible views of Downtown, and Lake Michigan.
They just put new elevators and the hallways are so clean!!! I love it....!
Is february 2005!
