The other people in these reviews are correct. I lived between two highly inconsiderate neighbors who blasted their stereos constantly and acted like immature frat brats. There was constant slamming of doors, passive aggressive notes, and insane behavior for a bunch of adults. The noise level was unbearable to a point where I had to wear earplugs and headphone in my own apartment to achieve any peace and quiet - forget being able to watch my own television or listen to the radio at a reasonable level. While the location is great and the neighborhood is fun, this apartment should be avoided due to the management's inability to enforce civil behavior from their tenants. Don't rent here.

I never write reviews online ever, but my experience with 1133 and Planned Property Management was so terrible I had to.. Tabitha, Mira, and Dan from the Planned Property Management office don't make living easy. They have constant billing, parking, etc issues that will disrupt your life. You'll have to constantly take time out of your life to deal with their mistakes and poor management skills. That doesn't even begin to describe how terrible all members of the Management office are... Planned Property Management may literally be the WORST COMPANY IN THE WORLD. I highly recommend doing your research online and I'm sure you'll find many others with terrible stories. I lived in their Gold Coast 1133 building paying over $2,000 a month and was treated like garbage, the same way the PPM management treats the building as a whole. PS - The pool is in the shade 24 hours a day and is not heated EVER! In my 2 years there, I literally never even saw ONE person in it. There are plenty of better building in Chicago. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND ENERGY WITH PLANNED PROPERTY MANAGEMENT.

I just moved in a few months a go and so far so good. I am not usually one to write a review but I was really impressed with Kristine, the leasing agent that helped me out when I rented the unit. I never felt pushed into make a decision and she answered all the questions I had. She was very helpful in helping me make the right decision on renting in Chicago. I just relocated from Idaho to take a job hear and it was pleasant to run into someone I had so much in common with. With respect to the apartment, Kristine personally walked me through the unit when I arrived. The unit was full painted, cleaned and ready to go when promised. I also had a mattress arrive before my move in date and the building was very helpul in accepting the delivery. All in all, I can't complain. I have very high expectations and so far, my high standards have been met. Good job Kristine!

These places are old and fall apart. We took a 5 month lease because that is what we needed. The only place to offer us one. They had just put in a new carpet, but did not really vacuum it before we moved in and it continued to totally shed until we moved out. Here were the major problems: Cabinet doors fell off - the kitchen is a nasty POS - we had to put contact paper on all of the bottoms of the cabinets Dishwasher basket kept collapsing-wheels are missing Pipes clogged up and we could not use our kitchen sink for a weekend. They finally gave in and called a plumber and then they said it was not their fault when I complained. Don't plumbers work on weekends? Don't they work 24 hours? Fix it. Water pump broke twice made brown water come out when the hot was on and my kids bathed in it. It makes a knocking noise next to our bedroom when it is broken. Mosquitos everywhere! They flew into our place one morning and I used packing tape to block off windows and doors. I killed like 50 inside. They said it happens every year. There were thousands all over the front door. They did NOTHING about this. In fact I sprayed outside of my door and outside of the main door for them. The maintenance guy came by and swept up all the dead mosquitos from my front door. I got crushed in the elevator. Luckily it was me and not my kids and I walked away with a spained wrist. However, we live on the 1st floor and hear people stuck in the elevator at least every other day. Why don't they call in a professional and have the electronics replaced or reprogrammed. You would think that the city would have a line for complaining about things like this. They said their was parking in the building and then we moved in and they put us down the street because all of a sudden it was gone. We complained enough that it was resolved in two weeks by giving us a guest spot permanently. The AC went out in the whole building for about 8 hours on a 90 degree day. I guess that is not really their fault, but to me their is a culture of when it breaks fix it, not preventing it from breaking in the first place. To their credit, the maintenance staff is very nice and realitively responsive. However, they are not plumbers, exterminators, AC repairmen. They hesitate to invest any money in anything. The woman who runs the building is not super nice either. She is very defensive and instead of wanting to help and empathizing she acts like it is not her problem. A couple of the door ladies are nice. Some of the others act like it is a big deal for them to push a button to let you in. Lastly, the thermostats are hard to control and you ultimately don't have control of the heat or ac. If the ac is on, you can control it. If the heat is on, you can control it by turning it up or down on a dial. However, if the heat is on and you want cold, it does not work and vice versa. Can be difficult at night in the spring or fall when it goes from 60 to 80.

Good location, good building, well managed, good doormen. Neighbors can be rude and immature. If you're a professional looking to be able to maintain your busy hours and depend on your apartment for peace and quiet for unwinding and sleep, come here at your own risk. My first year here was great, but I have since acquired some noisy, rude, and inconsiderate neighbors.

This is an excellent bldg. with an excellent location and an excellent view (from my apartment at least.) The staff is very courteous and professional as well. Parking is great (if a little pricey.) Basically, you are paying for a prime gold coast apartment and that is what you get. My only complaint is that the tenants tend to skew rather young and, therefore, noise can be a bit of a problem as some seem to have a hard time leaving the frat days behind them.

What can I say, the location is awesome and the staff is so friendly. I just moved to Chicago from Detroit nd I have been welcomed with open arms. The location is right in the Heart of the Gold Coast surrounded buy upscale shopping, restaurants and bars. The prices are a little high but I think its a good value for the money. Check this place out. I can't wait for the pool to open.

this place is a great building with great apartments physically speaking and in a prime location with very nice management for the most part and wonderful doormen however--live here at your own risk....you take the chance as others have of living on the same floor as some of the most inconsiderate neighbors one can imagine....terrible, terrible noise...excessive smoking (the likes of which smell up your own apartment to a discusting degree--which is extrodinarily bothersome to a non-smoker) and more i almost hate to write this review because i do love the actual building itself so much, but i have never--not even in college--lived around such inconsiderate people
