We subletted a 1 br June, July, Aug this year. 37th Floor. Corner Apt. Fast elevators with usually no waiting to this floor. Pool, gym, laundry were important to us and they were excellent. Apt well laid out. Balcony was priceless for that morning coffee and the paper. Bldg management, maintenance crew, and door people were professional and helpful. Location is unbeatable for its excitement, and easy access to public transportation of all sorts. We're going to try get a another sublease in 2008. My experience was completely different from the negative reviews I've read about this building.

Quit your crying about the repairs that need to be made in the building. Not many of you complainers know that the balcony repairs are actually City of Chicago Ordinance. Remember when all those Lincoln Park kids died because the balcony fell off??? Why are you complaining about not having AC for a couple of weeks. It wasn't even the begining of summer! The ac was broke and needed to be replaced! I would rather have them take care of that early in the summer than in the middle of August. As for section 8, they are no longer in the building. When a building goes condo, that program expires. Did you ever stop and ask management why? Why is the elevator still out? (not in an argumentative way) I did! They were waiting on the elevator company to deliver a piece that needed to be specially ordered. The building is like every other building in the world. It has problems, but nothing that doesnt get taken care of right away. I've been down to the management office and they have been very helpful in every way. I needed a letter written to my employer because he did not believe I was late because of the elevators and they gladly wrote on for me. If you dont like it, get your stuff packed and move out! By the way, did you read the lease you signed? It says it right there in black and white..."Lessee understands that the building is in condo conversion" Now whos the baboon?

So in reading some of these reviews it seems that most people leaving reviews have a beef against this place. I am writing a review because I used this website when searching for an apartment. I moved into Ontario Place and am very happy with my decision. I have not experienced any of the issues mentioned by the negative reviews. My only negative comment would be in agreeing about the elevators. They can be a bit slow but I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes and that doesn't happen too often. Usually they are pretty prompt but they do have their moments. I can only imagine any highrise will have this issue. Ok, two complaints... This building is close to Northwestern Hospital and a fire staion so there are sirens all the time. You get used to it after a while but it can get on your nerves. But that's the joys of living the city life right? But the apartments themselves are very nice. and seem to be in good order. Everything was spotless when I moved in and my views (South and West) are to die for. Every time I come home at night to see the skyline from my windows reminds me why I write the rent check every month. Past about the 30th floor the views are relatively unobstructed and I don't have neighbors staring in my window from across the street. The next highrises are one or two blocks away. My experience with maintenance was positive. I've only had to call them once and the problem was fixed same day. Maintenance personnel are nice and the door people are great. Some more than others. They do maintenance during the day so the water or air is cut off for a couple of hours here and there but they give you plenty of notice and service has always been restored in a very timely manner. Those maintenance windows are during the day when you should be at work anyway. The balcony is the best part. To sit outside and drink my coffee or have friends over is great with such a large outdoor space and did I mention the views? the gym is very adequate and the outdoor pool area is a blast in the summer. I haven't really had to deal with management but I do get the feeling that some of them could be a bit troublesome. But the majority of the people I deal with have been accommodating. lets see what else... The floor I live on is very quiet (aside from the outside noise). I have never heard any of my neighbors and I'm pretty loud person but I haven't had any complaints from them. So either they can't hear me being loud or they deal with it. Either way, I don't hear them. As for the Section 8, yes they are in the building. They are all friendly, polite, or just keep to themselves. I have never had any problems with the section 8 tenants. a guy on my floor said one of his neighbors was section 8 and was causing problems with noise but management took care of the problem rather quickly. And really, if you think having to live with persons less fortunate than you is an issue, living with section 8 will probably be a nice lesson in life because you might just discover that less fortunate souls are normal people like you just trying to get by in the world. imagine that. This building isn't perfect but is any place? I'm sure if I liked to complain I could find things to complain about but so far this place is tops in my book. If you want to see crappy apartments, you should meet some of my friends. Any one of them would love to live in this building. You pay about what this apartment is worth in this location. The long and short of it is that I'm glad I chose to live here and will continue to live here.

Save yourself the headaches, and don't rent here. While the location is amazing, there are way too many hassles involved. The elevators are SLOW - I frequently wait 5 min. or more during busy times. As this building has Section 8 housing, there are always cops here - not to protect the bldg but to arrest another tenant. One time the cops snuck through the back door and arrested a guy that was standing right next to me waiting for the elevator (good thing we had to wait so long). Also, there are lots of problems with the water; my tub is constantly slow to drain no matter what is done. Maintenance is not great either - they come in and leave a note that the problem is "fixed" when it frequently isn't. But these problems pale in comparision to the Leasing Ofc - CRS is AWFUL. Once they get you to sign the lease, you can forget about any help from them. IT'S NOT WORTH IT!!

Though the location is amazing, the leasing office agents are the laziest I've ever seen. You ask a question, and they never know the answer. I mean their job is to lease you an apartment and answer any questions you may have before or after your move. The sales people in the leasing office are rude and usually their answer to any basic question is "that's something you have to take care of." I can't undertand how this luxury building doesn't even include basic cable or internet. The balcony doors let in a lot of cold air therefore your electric bill in the winter will run you at least $80 to keep at about 70 degrees. The elevators take forever. The door women never open the door.

The hallways are clean, but you can hear everything going on in the hallway.

I also didn't know about the section 8 housing! I wish someone told me that before I moved in. I can't tell you how many times some drunken fool has knocked the wrong door (my door) thinking it was her apartment.
