I have lived in units close to this building and this deffinetly ranks at the bottom. Don't talk to any one in the management office such a waste of time.

I have lived in this building for two years and just getting ready to move out. For the most part I have had no problems. If you have a noisy neighbor, it's not the management's fault. We had that issue, and resolved the problem our own way. The pros of this building would definitely start with the rate. Given the area that it is in, the rental rates in this building are well-below average in River North, and the units, while most are not updated, are in good shape. The balconies are huge, which is convenient for relaxing or entertaining. The amenities are what you would expect from an apartment in this area. I have never had any issues with the cleanliness of the pool or gym. Once again, management can't be held responsible for the other tenants who use the pool and the gym (some people have no dignity or respect for others). Also, unless things have changed, there is no security deposit. One more thing that you may not think of as a pro is that the building is ugly from the outside. It sticks out like a sore thumb in the River North skyline. So if you live here, you don't have to look at it. That's definitely nice. On the negative side. the units do have the typical, crappy apartment carpet you'll see in most buildings, but that's tough to avoid. Management is very friendly when helping you get into the building, and slightly less helpful once you've signed a lease, but that also seems to be inescapable in Chicago. The traffic noise and sirens are annoying, but once again this comes with living in the city and we've gotten used to it. My biggest complaint about this building is the slow elevators. Make sure you leave a few minutes early for work. On top of the usual slowness of the elevators, one of the lower tier elevators will break at least once per month leaving one elevator to service floors 7-26 for a day or more. Overall, this building has been good. The location is amazing, the unit is nice, the amenities are very convenient, and the price is good for the area. If you can afford to move into one of the nicer buildings in the area, you probably should. But if this building is in your price range, don't let the negative reviews scare you away. Some people review these units after one bad incident with management. I've been here two years and have had a couple of spats with management, but usually it was a misunderstanding. Get over it.

I agree with the last reviewer! Of all the places I've looked in Chicago, I have to say that the management here has been the best! Connie is really friendly and a very nice person to work with! She has helped me greatly in finding an apartment at the Ontario Place that I am extremely excited to move into!! Not only is the location, the building amenities, and the apartment itself great (not to mention the balcony!), but the management staff (Connie) has been extremely helpful, professional, and prompt. I would highly recommend this place.

I can't believe what the previous review said. My wife is pregnant and we have been working with Connie for the past few months trying to find a two bedroom at Ontario Place. She has been trying her best to find one for us. And she did. There is a couple who are looking to sublet their 2BR and once they informed her she called us right away. We went up and looked at it and it was perfect! We are taking the sublet. She has other apartments available, but they are one bedrooms but with a baby on the way, it would not work. She has been wonderful to work with, but she is human and she may have a bad day here or there. And I'm sure with me calling her everyday bothering her about a two bedroom didn't help either. From my experience, the management has been very helpful!

I have rented from this building for 1 year and it is time to move on! The elevators are VERY slow so don't ever, ever wake up 5 minutes late for work. You will wait another 10 minutes for the elevator. Extremely rude management whether you are a renter or buyer. Asking Connie in leasing if there is anything available in the building for rent is quite the experience. Unless she gets a kickback in some fashion, she is not interested in helping you. So if you are looking for a 2 bedroom in the next few months - she will say nothing is available. Then, when you ask a few more questions it turns out that there are 3-4 units available and she is irritated that you made her do her job. This is a young building in a great location. It could be INCREDIBLE if two problems were fixed - management/personnel and elevators. OH - and there are NO garbage disposals!

I rented @ Ontario under a two year lease. The only redeeming feature of this building is its location. The building itself is continuously being re-vamped by tenants so you can always hear construction noise which generally starts around 7:30am and maybe ends around 6pm. I have woken up by the noise of drilling above my head countless times. The noise is extremely loud and which makes any time spent inside almost unbearable. The walls are thin and sound can really resonate - I could hear my neighbors dog barking all the time as well as another neighbors TV/music. On top of that the elevators break down frequently & parking is ridiculously expensive. The rental office though takes the cake in terms of irritation - everything is extremely buracratic and anything that may be faulty or problematic in your apt. will be your fault and its be best to just accept that the bathroom drains will be constantly clogged/etc. Rent/buy with caution.

This building looked really nice when I was looking for a place closer to work. There were large balconies, a fitness center and nice people in the office! After three months, the nice people were no longer nice- in fact they are condescending! Down right rude after the sale, they know you are locked in for a year and can't do anything about it! I went to the gym and half the lights were off and it was 20 degrees hotter than anywhere else in the building! In the time that I have lived here 3 people have moved off my floor! 12 units on the floor, twelve months a year- talk about turnover! Found out that the people in the office don't care about you renewing because they only get paid by the owner the first time! Owners who are losing a lot of their investment because the building is horrible! The office is horrible! In fact American INVESCO is HORRIBLE! Makes living in this neighborhood less than the pleasure it should be!

The office personnel have below average customer service skills. You walk in to the leasing office where Lisa, Mirela and some other made up names habitate and they look at you as if you have intruded into their bonding of the babes time. Let's all say outsource the management of Ontario Place !!! Everyone agree?

Fun place to live, great location, Pool and gym are awesome. Certainly the best value in the area. I can be on the ave or loop with in mins, and even the grocery stores are directly next door.
