I moved into the Alexan in December 2002 and will be moving out in July 2004. My intial experience was a positive one. I love the maintenance crew -- they a great! But, the turn over in the front office has been frequent, but they may have finally settled down with a semi-permanant group. BUt, the office staff has always been helpful for the most part.

The complex has a parking garage, but we have had frequent vandalism episodes (broken car windows, and stolen stereos, and bikes). The apartments have washer/dryers, and they work quite well.

You pay for everything: water, sewer, electricty, and yes, even trash. The building was still new when I moved in and so was my apartment -- I was the first to live in it. Your rent includes pest control, but you have to ask for it, otherwise they don't spray. I have noticed an influx of silverfish, not only in my apartment, but in the buildings common areas.

The fitness center is well kept, and the pool area is nice. It's a bit pricey to live here and the drivers in the parking garage are maniacs! They drive around tight corners like they are qualifying for Indy, and the garage isn't intended for two way traffic, so it's a tight fit when neither driver wants to back off and give the right of way.

It's pretty quiet here. The walls aren't thin. With the exception of hallway noise when people are in them, it isn't too bad.

Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but every coin has two sides and I'm anxious to move, and get a little more square footage and bang for my buck. I would probably send a friend somewhere much cheaper and just as nice. There are cheaper places in and near the Gables, when looking here, it's nice, but keep in mind all that glitters is not gold.
