“LOCATION: The best place to live anywhere close to USC. Believe me, I lived in other apartment blocks and searched a while before I found this place. I stayed for years after I found it. Ellendale Place is a safe road, and this apartment block feels safer than most. It's great security, and hard to get into unless you're a resident. There are rarely any parties, so this also makes it safe. MANAGEMENT: The manager (Fred) is super friendly and willing to help out with anything in the apartment. He's always around and easy to find and grab if you need something (this is pretty rare to find with building managers). Every semester for study week the managers provided free food from a food truck (in-n-out, etc.). It's awesome. VIBE: In general, it's a very quiet, relaxed building. Not many parties or late nights. Everyone kind of keeps to themselves. Outside the back of the building there's even a zen garden! (Seriously, it's beautiful). There are even some lawn chairs to layout on near the water-features and plants. ROOMS: Most of these rooms are one-bedrooms (usually housing two people), and a few two-bedrooms. My room is on the third floor, and gets a nice view over all other apartment blocks nearby. There's plenty of space for a one-bedroom (and is bigger than most others I looked into). It comes unfurnished but with a refrigerator, stove. There's a laundry room for the building. The living area and bedroom are re-carpeted every year (I know because I live here during the summers when they redo other apartments). Bathrooms have a bath/shower thing. Definitely big enough. Some other reviews talk about bugs, but I've been here over two years and have never had a problem. So it's likely due to food being kept out rather than a building issue. ALSO, a major plus if you have a car is one free parking spot per one-bedroom in the secure garage. Everywhere else I searched for required an additional monthly payment for parking. So this is great. OVERALL: It's safe to say this place has been great during my stay here. Highly recommended!”

The only bugs we saw were the ones that came around when we carelessly left food out for days at a time on more occasions that we should have. We would joke with Fred, the building manager about how dirty we were and he was always pretty cool about it! When we moved out we got charged for cleaning, but we left that apartment a hot mess. All in all, it was a good experience and it was pretty cheap between four guys.”
“So the rent was expensive, but everywhere else I looked/lived that was in a safe area wasn't much cheaper. Ellendale is a good street to be on, it's close to USC, and this building was always lit and gated. The apartment was almost all carpet, but mine was new so there wasn't any stains or anything. Maybe I got lucky, but most of my kitchen was new too. The building was quiet, there were never any large parties inside. Fred is always around, and when I clogged up my toilet (probably a common mistake) he came pretty quickly to solve it. He's definitely old fashioned, but he wasn't a troll. The internet sucks in the building. No matter where I was, it was bad. Parking was fine for just me. I didn't have to pay monthly for it. Parking outside on the street can be a hassle.”

The manager is constantly on tenants about this and that, and you have to pay for all repairs, despite that they are due to the lack of tending to by management. The internet is awful, and does not work. The building walls and halls are disgusting, never cleaned. The entire apartment is carpet that hasn't been washed in years and is covered in stains. I would not recommend this to anyone. Such a terrible experience. Luckily more and more options have been coming onto the market (west 27th, gateway, etc.)”
