“I lived here for one year an enjoyed it at first, Management gets changed alot here! First red flag!, Security is horrible, RENT IS INSANE FOR THE SIZE OF THE APARTMENT!. When and if you do move here, dread the day you move out. They will take their sweet time to get you youre deposit back and then claim you have damaged the apartment!. I have been waiting for a month and a half to get an itimized list of damages and never received one. California Laws state that you must be given this list to take care of these issues at youre own expense!. DO NOT LET THESE CROOKS KEEP YOUR MONEY!. Please email me with any questions, I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO EXPLAIN WHY I FEEL THIS WAY! [email protected]”

— 8809 1/2 READING AVE · Westchester“I have had numerous problems with maintenance issues in the short time I have lived here, a total of 8 separate problems that the complex seems incompetent to fix. For instance: Washer/Dryer unit The washer stops before completing a cycle and I have to manually change the settings. Heater When I first moved in the heater did not work. They worked on the heater and got it to work, however I cannot run the heater because every time I do it sets off the smoke detector. Again, They came out and informed me that the heater is too close to the alarm and he would put in a new one. They scheduled a time and never returned. Garbage Disposal Many times I have stated that my garbage disposal spits water back at me when used and once someone was to come out and fix this problem, which they apparently did not do. Dishwasher Again I have stated and complained to maintenance that my dishwasher leaks out the bottom, yet nothing has been done about it. Grout When I moved in I continually asked the complex to seal the grout in my kitchen and bathroom. This has not been done and will get dirty if not done. Ceiling Fan Many times I have told them that my fan does not seem to work right. It turns on by itself and I cannot turn it on manually. Another concern I have is that I had locked myself out of my apartment and called to be let in. I was told by them that under policy, which I have never seen, that Alexandria Park Apartments does not do this due to liability. Instead I had to wait in the freezing cold for 2 hours for a locksmith that ended up costing me $89.00. A stranger was not trying to get in, only me into my own apartment. Then I came home one night to find my storage unit broken into and half my stuff gone. The police came and said that the locking mechanism the complex provided was not secure enough, making it easy for theifs to break in. My question is this: If I am paying $2201 a month shouldn't things work in my apartment and be secure? Also, where was the security guards, that the complex is supposed to provide? Anyway, I have a long list of more problems with them. To make it short DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The landscaping isn't as well-kept as it was when we moved in; that was one of the reasons I liked living in this area. But, if you have issues with your neighbors, management has been known to tell residents to call the police: PLEASE DON'T! After a resident moved out, they complained to the management, who told them to call the police, and as a result, a member of my family was arrested; management never tried to find out what the problem was. Do yourselves a favor, insist that the managers do their job in handling resident issues.”

This is a rent control property, so the only increase you can get is what the city allows yearly. I came from a place where I got increases of $250 and $300, which can never happen here. My puppy likes all the grass and my daughter likes the big toy!”
— 8809 1/2 READING AVE · Westchester“In the space of the slightly under three years I was there, my rent increased by over almost $150 more a month! They built in a new leasing office and swimming pool, and passed the cost onto the tenants. It's extremely noisy from constant airplanes landing. The planes are so low, you can almost see the wings on the pilots blazers! Sure it's quieter with the windows closed, but there's no air conditioning. My apt was advertised as having a dishwasher and it didn't. When I asked when I would get one, I was informed they weren't putting them in any more. The one bedrooms are tiny and cramped if you own any furniture. People were always parking behind my parking space making it hard to back out. One of the residents digs through the trash cans daily, so don't throw out anything personal. Oh and the staff are always at lunch or away from the office. Overpriced, noisy, and cramped. That's my opinion.”
— 8809 1/2 READING AVE · Westchester“I used to live in this complex and had an awful time. We had numerous probelms which went unaddressed. Parking is awful and the plane noise is aggrevating. We had notices posted on our door every once in a while about sexual offenders that lived a few blocks away. If you are an LMU student, you can find housing elsewhere that is safe and well taken care of at a similar cost. There is no reason to live here.”

— 8809 1/2 READING AVE · Westchester“The apartments are set in a really sweet park like setting, and have a lot of charm. The apartments have wood-looking floors instead of carpet, and I think it's obvious that they care about keeping it looking nice. The laundry rooms are sometimes a problem (machines are broken, sometimes), but they get fixed. The airplane noise can also be a load to get used to, but if the windows are closed, it's not very loud.”
— 8809 1/2 READING AVE · Westchester“I am a current resident of Alexandria Park APts. and I must warn anyone who is interested in these units. We have had rent hike every year since they took over and changed ownership. We also have half done work by lousy and sometimes unlicensed contractors. It also VERY expense coming in where it shouldn't be. I'm sure that anyone who can afford to move in at these new prices can definetly afford to live somewhere worth their hard earned dollars in a much nicer complex.”
— 8809 1/2 READING AVE · Westchester“This complex was recently sold to the Bascum Group, who acquire, do lots of construction toward increasing the rental prices of the apartments and then sell the property. The renovations are in most cases unwanted by the tenants, as they will create noise, dirt, flies and bad smells (bar-b-que areas with no one to keep them clean). The on-site manager talks much and carries through not at all.

Since the purchase by Bascum Group service has decreased, the security patrol discontinued, trash dumpsters are filled to overflowing by construction crews & tenants unable to find a place to throw their trash. The porter was relieved of his job, trash is everywhere on lawns, and the laundry rooms remain dirty - floors not mopped & machines no longer washed inside and out.

Filth whichever direction one looks.

The increased rents are laughable & many newer & larger apartments are available in Westchester at the same rates.

Children run wild and LOUD . . .more weeds than lawn . . . .the trees were trimmed so unprofessionally that the miracle is they lived - though they'll not look like trees. again for another year or so.

All the gates are now kept open, where before they were locked. Result -- many people from the street come through the area -- to dig through the trash and leave trash, too. Dogs are walked by non-residents and the "leavings" not cleaned up. Flies now where before there were none.

I recommend you stay away.

”
