I've been living here for 3 years. It's an amazing place to live and visit. Transportation, restaurants, shops, everywhere is walking distance. The neighbor is great and people are very kind. The building is amazing and beautiful. It's my favorite place to stay in Los Angeles.

I lived here for 6 years and it was the best. Elena and Victor go above and beyond to make sure every tenant has a nice experience. I had to move away from Los Feliz but it was not by choice, this is a great place to live.

I have been living at 1806 N. Berendo for over 7 years. That should tell you enough about this apartment building. The neighborhood is great. Near everything one could want. Great bars, restaurants, groceries and a cinema. The building is quite nice, the apartments are spacious and we have a communal BBQ which is great. The place is managed by Elena and Victor, who I have known since the beginning and have helped me every time I needed. With the very few issues I had that required assistance in these 7 years, I don't think I had to wait more than 1 day to get it fixed. I have lived in quite a few places and have had to deal with many, many building managers, and I can say with absolute confidence, Elena is by far my favorite. She has made the experience of living in this building quite enjoyable and I know everyone would benefit from having her as their landlord.

Living here was decent for the first couple years when Elena managed the building herself, but after Victor took over, everything went severely downhill. He's a hoarder who packs the parking garage full of broken furniture, old toilets and junk cars. It attracts homeless people and I ended up having my car broken into multiple times. The only thing he did for security was install faux security cameras and then let the batteries run out. Before I left, things deteriorated pretty badly, with him refusing to pay to fix the elevator so my paraplegic neighbor had to move out of the building and he started letting elderly Russian men temporarily live in some of the empty units. Was so glad to finally get out of there. I can't even believe what he's trying to charge these days for apartments that aren't that nice and in a building so poorly managed.

Had my car broken into three times. The building manager uses fake cameras and doesn't replace the batteries. Elevator broke and was never fixed, we just don't have one anymore. A paraplegic neighbor had to move out. Every "improvement" management makes ends up making the building cheaper looking and less functional. They're also hoarders so the parking garage is a mountain of old toilets, broken furniture and junk that gets stacked so high it falls over onto your vehicle. It also attracts a lot of homeless people and vandals. Avoid living here at all costs.

Safe place to live, friendly and very accommodating managers. Walking distance to a lot of services, also to Barnsdall Park and the Beautiful Griffith Park!!!!

I moved in with a roommate in Nov 2009. I had a great experience. It's quiet and the neighbors are friendly. The manager, Victor, was always very accommodating when I needed something and his staff of handymen are top notch. The outdoor patio on the first floor is great in the evenings, with tons of huge cactus and comfy seating. The street is wide and quiet and I never had any problems with the neighbors. Plus I was two blocks away from all the Vermont street bars and restaurants (and Skylight Books!) I just left because I can afford to live on my own now.

When my girlfriend and I decided to relocate to Los Feliz we looked at several apartments in the neighborhood. And though the rent at Berendo Court was a bit pricier than some others, we got every cent we paid for. Our apartment had just been refinished when we moved in with very nice amenities: granite counter tops, new refrigerator, new gas stove, new dish washer and the managers even furnished our place with a new dresser and patio furniture, chairs, umbrella and even a chimenea (which we never used but it was a nice touch). The best part was the brand new hard wood floors throughout to make for easy cleaning. All in all we were very satisfied with the apartment. Location, however, is what makes this place fantastic. On most days off, we never used our car, there is so much within walking distance. Farmer's markets twice a week, movie theaters, restaurants, bars, cafes, and Griffith Park all a stone's throw. There was a break in in the garage while we were there and my girlfriend's bike was stolen which was a bummer, however the property managers reacted swiftly, changing the code on the gate and installing cameras all over. The property is super safe and there were no other issues. Our garbage disposal backed up once, (which was our fault as we were entertaining many people and jammed it up), and the handy man was there to fix it in five minutes the following morning. We were surprised to see the negative reviews of the managers because they seemed to us to be very attentive to the status of each tenant and would go out of their way to accommodate us. Overall this is a great building. Rarely even saw let alone heard any of the other tenants. Decent common space for entertaining larger parties with a fire pit and a gas grill. Plants everywhere! The pool is really just a small wading pool but refreshing in the summer. Convenient parking. But the location is what puts it over the top!

Taking a few minutes to write a review for an apartment building I lived in isn't normally something I'd think to give up the time to do. Reviews on sites like this always seem to be collections of people who felt very wronged or had some other- worldly wonderful experience. I came across this collection of reviews and was surprised so many had taken their time to vent personal critiques against the building manager, so I figured I should leave a record of my time there. We lived at 1806 N. Berendo St. for over 10 years. So before, during, and after all of the reviews that precede my own here. Certainly there were times when we were frustrated or unhappy with something with the building or someone working or living in it, but 10 years does give a good big picture perspective. And that big picture is: I strongly recommend it. When we finally left the building it was to move into a new area. Over our time at Berendo, and especially while looking for a new place we became very aware of things 1806 offered that other buildings didn't. The access to handymen is no. 1. They are there daily and since the manager lives in the building the process of getting things going is usually simple. Crucial stuff will be taken care of quickly and the smaller issues will still be taken care of way faster than what you'll get elsewhere. Additionally, if there are little reasonable improvements that you want, you've got a good shot at getting that done too. It's a whatever 80s building like you would find in the Valley, but great efforts are taken to make it nice. Namely there are plants and flowers everywhere. It makes a huge difference when compared to other buildings that can be dark and dank or just under-appreciated. So many of the units here have great natural light, as well. Any major area that was lacking for the building at some point in the past (service, security, maintenance) was only improved over our time there. The people that run the building want the tenants to be happy and will go to great lengths to make that happened. Good neighbors make a difference and you'll find most everyone to be respectful and nice. The ones that aren't nice or are rude probably won't stick around since the managers live there too. Being there for so long, we were around for every security incident described here, but with a decade perspective, I can still say it is a very safe building. Fortress-like even these days. Location is awesome and this place is close to everything on that side of town. Yet, it's just far enough away from Franklin and Hollywood Blvd. that it is remarkably quiet. And I'll just reiterate that the managers are attentive, sweet, and good people. I hope this gives some perspective.

I am shocked to see all these bad reviews for Berendo Court Apartments. Last year when I was researching about Berendo Court Apartments..I didn't see any of this and it would have totally steered me away from renting here but thank god I didn't because my roommate and I absolutely LOVED our stay here. We moved to Berendo Court last August from Chicago. Being two young girls moving to a big city was hard but living at Berendo Court made it feel easier. It's a family style building..everyone looks out for one another. It is very safe, you need keys to get everywhere (TOTAL PLUS)..It's also a quiet building. Moving to Berendo was a great choice for us. The apartment manager and his wife were both amazing. They care very deeply for each tenant.. and are always around if you need anything..even at 3am. We had some problems towards the end of our stay (from our end) and both the Apt. Manager and his wife were very helpful to us. I don't see any reason why anyone shouldn't want to live here. It is a great clean and beautiful building..it appeals to every age group and type of person. It's in a great neighborhood..great parking(which, if you have lived in Los Angeles you know this is a HUUUUGE plus)..lots of space and the best part of all is the maintenance. If there is a problem, you put in a phone call and it's done the same day or as quickly as possible. Once again, I highly recommend Berendo Court Apartments, we had a great stay there, unfortunately both of us were relocated for school and work.
