DO NOT RENT HERE. I've lived here for 5 years. While ----- (the previous building manager) worked here, I liked it. She was a charming lady of advancing years, and she did a good job. And it's an old building and nothing fancy, but the rent was modest and the location is pretty good. The new building staff . . . not to be trusted. This is how they handle a simple repair issue: blame the tenant. After the tenant proves that it wasn't his fault, blame him again. Argue. Personal insults. Threats. Menacing statements like "I hope you like being homeless" and worse. Threaten eviction at every turn. Use defective legal papers. Break the State and LARSO rules in multiple ways. Change lease terms whenever they feel like it. Refuse to give the tenant a copy of the lease. Send the handyman to your door, again and again, looking for repair problems that don't exist. This is the short list. The complete list would take an essay. And the worst part? If you don't cave in to the harassment, threats, and pressure tactics, and they get mad enough, they call the authorities and make statements for the exact purpose of trying to get you in trouble with the law and/or drum up an excuse for an eviction. How do I know that? Because they did that to me (and it did not work). Nobody in their right mind should ever rent here. This is the worst renting experience of my life. The current building staff took a perfectly nice place to live and turned it into a living Hell.

Like many Julie Lee tenants, I've lived here for year after year. The building is a comfy kind of vintage, and the location can't be beat. But it's not worth even looking here anymore. The latest manager is inexperienced and most of the other tenants I know absolutely effing HATE her. She's made herself notorious for racist comments (that she thinks aren't), discriminating against people who don't happen to be straight or white, and this manager is AWFUL. If you don't kiss up to her, expect to get retaliated against in ways that openly break the law and the local ordinances. And if you have rented around here before and have a clue, that should say it all. I know several people who moved out because of her. Me next as soon as the lease ends. It's really sad. This used to be the "it" place for the neighborhood and it was a thing to live here. Not for a while now. The building owner is some old fart who never shows up or answers his phone calls, too, so you can see how everything went way downhill from just that.

Apartments are clean and well maintained. Management is friendly and helpfull. Street parking is difficult but you are able to buy a spot right next door. this building is literally right in the middle of Hollywood so if that is not your style this is not your place. I love being so close to all the popular night spots and Runyon Canyon hiking is also very close.

New team.... NEW PROBLEMS. Chary is never there. Carlos the main guy works hard, but to no avail since upper management does not care. Yep, old man and daughter are gone, but daughter's owner is quite the snake which only looks for the opportunity to get people out of there, so she can raise the rent to the roof and not because it has been repaired since like all years they only do patching and hope for the best and the people on the 4th floor are the ones that suffer constantly even with a small rain,so if you are that desperate do not consider an apartment on this floor whatsoever since unless you want to get things ruined almost on every rain. Parking is terrible. Carpets are old since owner's son does not seem to feel that they need to improve them whatsoever. Very convenient if you live the night life for sure otherwise avoid this one at all costs since even it is a walking distance from the metro station it will take you a good 15 minute or more walk due to all the visitors that boulevard gets and that is if it open since lots of closures go into the community due to new movies and you name it. Finally, better lightning at the hallway and at the street and that is the only good thing there. Check other places before you land on this one and like the saying goes "Stay Away from these premises."

When I lived there I thought it was one of the best and worst places to live. The building was full of musicians and artists and other young struggling types. I loved the atmosphere very much. The building itself was in disrepair, cockroaches etc.,and I don´t imagine it´s much different now, but the architecture is beautiful. The Julie Lee was probably built in the late ´20´s or early 30´s and it shows. The worst part about living there was the apartment manager was an old disgusting lecher. His name was Mr. Domingues and if you´re a pretty young female and he´s still the manager, don´t move in! He used to ask me for intimate relations instead of my rent money and he was very persistant. Obviously, I had to move. Bummer, becaused I loved it there.
