Some one can take your assigned parking space if he wants, because the leasing office can't do anything!!!!! What you can do Ippears just waiting till the person move his car when he wants to do it!!!!! And also Think about it. You come back home at the midnight and you have to park your car far far away from the apt and walk a long distance back. Some homeless stare at you!!! If you are " lucky", You may get robbed as well!!!!! I talked my neighbors and they have the same issues!!!! You know what the same car took my parking spot twice. Leasing office did not help anything to prevent this tragedy????

I wish I could say my time at Virgil Square Apartments has been pleasant, but sadly, my experience living here has been absolutely awful. When I first took a look at the apartments, the manager who gave me the tour promised me that the apartments were peaceful and quiet. After moving in, I learned that this was a lie. Everyday there was so much noise; you could hear doors slamming and even the pounding of footsteps from above. The walls are so thin that you can hear every argument - you would be surprised at how many screaming fights I've heard that has led to police involvement. Even if the walls were thicker, some residents enjoy turning their sound systems to the maximum volume. There's also the constant noise from the renovations of certain apartments, which seem to happen without warning. You would think the mgmt would have the common courtesy to at least notify its residents of possible noise and when to expect it, but that would assume the mgmt actually cares about its residents. When I first signed my lease, I wasn't sure of my living arrangements due to my desire to buy a home in Los Angeles, and the leasing manager at the time, Christina, assured me that if I did have to break my lease after six months, I would only have to pay half of the original penalty. I thought this wouldn't be an issue later on because I eventually had decided to stay for the whole year. but, with all the noise issues, I simply could not live here for a year. I've tried to address my concerns about the noise with the mgmt, but not surprisingly, it has fallen on deaf ears. The mgmt, specifically the current manager Katherine Woods, instead keeps ignoring their responsibility to the problems, deferring every complaint with, "Well, why don't you just call the police?" I have tried to explain that I have called the police several times, but calling the police results in more noise and hassle at extreme hours of the night as the officers have to bang on the doors with more shouting and yelling. And when the issue occurs constantly, am I expected to call the police every single night? Ms. Woods' response was: "Well, no one else seems to call the police." It seems funny to me that they don't understand that calling police doesn't resolve the underlying issue at hand, and only seems to make matters worse. Other issues that I brought up were the constant smell of marijuana and cigarette smoke in the apartments. The hallways are grimy and not maintained well. You've got always cigarettes laying around in the hallway. Many residents leave their trash outside their door for days. When hearing about these issues, the mgmt seems to do the bare minimum about these concerns, only promising to send warnings, but never really accomplishing anything to address the concerns. And so, when I brought up my desire to terminate my lease, Ms. Woods ignored what I had been told previously by the old leasing manager and did nothing to look into it. Instead, Ms. Woods was adamant about the penalty for terminating the lease, despite the mgmt's continued failure to uphold the standards they seem to advertise and promise in their tours and brochures. In fact, when I brought up these issues, Ms. Woods became rude and confrontational. How can any sort of Anit mgmt treat its residents in this manner? I'm not sure how the mgmt is trained, but they should obviously retake their lessons in treating their residents with respect and courtesy. If you are looking for apartments to rent, I would strongly advise you against renting with Virgil Apartments, unless you really enjoy constant noise, grimy hallways, and mgmt that doesn't care about the welfare of its residents. Save your money, and your dignity.

I've been living here for almost two years now. Everything seems ok with this Anit, but why do they raise rent every year? Also this Anit doesn't include utilities, unlike other apartments around the neighborhood. They also require "renter's insurance" which is unheard of. so if you add all those costs, it might not be worth the price of living here. I just got a renewal notice of $1,218 per month, but on their website, it says $1,145. does that make sense? why are they charging more for the current tenant? i've been living here causing no trouble and living quietly... it's ridiculous. instead of trying to make it better for the current tenant, they seem to be taking advantage of the situation... the renewal notice seems like they're trying to lock you in... and because it's a hassle moving, they even raise the rent on you. i'm definitely giving my 30day notice if they keep raising the rent every year.

OK, so one day the dude downstairs had his Alat broken in and all his stuff stolen. Plus, his car keys taken and his car stolen too. Alright... we live in LA these things happen. But today, MURDER in the garage??? That's just too far... Plus, mgmt is bad. The elevator has been broken for weeks and still haven't gotten fixed. Also one day some ppl found a bunch of keys near the pool and they brought it up to us saying that the mail key opens our mail box... except those are not our keys. So apparently mgmt has been giving out our mail key to some other people. This is one shady place. Charges waaaay too much for what it has to offer. Go somewhere else, not worth it.

I don't recommend these apartments at all. I don't know if It's equity residential itself That's not a good company or just this sole Anit complex. Lets begin with the staff; they are not helpful. They don't return your calls promptly and rarely ever pick up the phone. They may seem nice when you first meet them but after a while they just don't care about you. We have put in many complaints with them about the Anit and rarely did they ever take any action to resolve the issues. Now lets talk about the parking, with a one bedroom Anit they give you one parking spot. Although the parking structure is gated it doesn't really do any good. There were many times where the gate was broken and they took no action to repair it, to the point where we had to call them, which of course they did not answer their phone. Then we had to call the security company they provide to tell them the gate is broken. And about that security, they have one guard for both 4 story complexes that they have. Secondly although the parking lot is gated people still come in with ease, every morning there were homeless people in the lot sifting through the garbage, also several cars including my own were broken into while parked in their lot. I have nothing much to say about the grounds other than they are really messy, It's a dog complex and I have seen dog poop in the stairs, the elevator, the walkways and at the front door. I know that this is the people that live in the complex who are at fault and not the company but It's still disgusting. Lets talk about the noise, the place is loud. The walls are thin and the windows are too. We were often plagued by both the above floor and the people below us. And although we asked them to keep it down they didn't. Then we asked the staff to do something about it and still for months until those tenants moved out we were plagued with loud karaoke from below and apparently foot races from the people above us. Now with that said, the windows are so thin and poorly insulated that you can hear everything outside of the Anit complex. Now the maintenance and construction of this place left much to be desired. Lets talk about the stove, often for our unit 2 out of 4 of the stove tops did not work. We asked them to fix it, they said it was fixed, and yet when we came home, still not working. Next lets talk about the plumbing, the kitchen sink was poorly constructed. The piping was cheap and thin pvc, that wasn't even threaded. They often popped loose and flooded the bottom of the sink and kitchen. Asked them to fix it and all they did was connect it back together, no glue, no sealant, no nothing. After that we had a ridiculous roach and ant problem. All around the apartments are ants and roaches. Not just tiny roaches but large one inch plus roaches. We asked them to fix it and they said they have, lo and behold came home still a billion roaches. We were not grimy people and kept the place as clean as we could. Lastly lets talk about safety. I mentioned before that my car was broken in to, while it was parked in the lot. Obviously not as safe as they advertise. The cars parked around the street were also broken into. Now if you live on the first floor you might want to invest in a safe for all your important belongings. I say this because the first floor units were broken into several times while we stayed there because thieves love being able to reach your unit through your patio. Now lets talk about the one important event. Once we were all forced to stay in our apartments as a swat team came and cleared our building because a group of robbers had taken refuge in our area. Now lets talk about the thing one people would hate to hear, there was a murder in the unit. A woman living in the first floor corner unit was murdered there, and again the staff did not bother to notify the building but rather chose to ignore it until many of us brought it up. Although this has nothing to do with while we were living there, our moving out process was horrible. We were quoted a certain price in clean up of the Anit, but, when it came to getting our deposit they ripped us off. They charged about 500 dollars more. And when we tried to contact them they never responded. We asked for a bill and they did not provide one. We went to pick up the bill and said that these things did not line up with what they said. They said they will get back to us. Obviously they never did. And we were out 500 dollars. So I end this review with a definite don't recommend. Especially this complex. They are horrible on all levels.

1. The Blace has asbestos and mold 2. There's an insanely Lacophonous alarm that goes off constantly throughout the week in the middle of the night. 3. You've got multiple break-ins, vehicles are constantly robbed, and There's an overwhelming sense of fear. 4. mgmt doesn't care and they haven't done anything. 5. There's a huge homeless encampment that won't leave. Just look at my pictures. STAY AWAY!!!

Nope. Cars have been broken into for the past two years, and no change in security has fixed the situation. Also, 50% of packages delivered get stolen. The washer and dryers are filthy. The pool and grills are never cleaned. Trash pickup is every other day on a busy street in the morning, so forget EVER sleeping past 7 am. But all of these things could be considered "petty" by some. Well, it gets worse. They charge all tenants a monthly "conservice utility bill" for water, gas, trash services, and pest control. All these extra utility charges fluctuate monthly and, on average, cost each tenant anywhere from an additional $150-$300 (YEP!) monthly. This Petting preys on those with bad credit and they sure do charge you for your low score! GO ELSEWHERE IF YOU CAN. Especially if you have decent credit.

The grounds and surrounding area are not clean, and the appliances and plumbing are horrible. There's constant noise from pets and people because the windows and walls seem to be paper thin - even simple things such as someone walking past or closing the front door. I also noticed that no one seems to stay here, You've got people constantly moving out every weekend. This alarms me a great deal and could potentially be a sign of the mgmt or continuous problems that plaque the Btructure. The elevator has broken down at least a dozen times, and I have noticed that the inspection has not been performed since 2010! It's apparent that mgmt has no concern for the safety of the tenants, especially since they got rid of the ONLY security guard some months ago. Cutting costs and corners but raising rent prices isn't something I want to stick around for. Please consider another property and avoid Equity. I wish I would have read the many complaints before moving in...

These guys won't only steal your deposit, but they will "bill" you for other cleaning bills. I'm a neat person and have gotten most of my deposits back at every place I've lived. Virgil Square (AKA: My Equity Apartments) is the only Anit trying to rape me out of my deposit. They are charging over $600 for cleaning bills as if have trashed the place. They're the biggest crooks. I noticed that a lot of tenants were moving out of this place, but that isn't should be a reason to steal ex-tenants out of their deposits.

I havent even stayed here or seen the Pocation that I have applied for, but that didnt stop managment from asking for a lease to be signed via email before the Pocation was even ready, once everything was approved joseph went ahead and sent out a lease to be signed I dont know I feel like they rush you almost force you into signing the lease or commit yourself to there property or mgmt company. In my past experience you would first view the Pocation that by the way is occupied by another resident due to leave, but you would be able to see the Pocation once ready with all repairs made and give you the opportunity to see if you even like the Pocation before paperwork is signed and keys handed over. Im not sure if joseph is on commission or what the motivation is behind emailing leases to be signed before the tenant even meets him or let alone see the Pocation. I just dont feel like That's good business practice at least make sure your potential resident is happy and sees the property that there to rent out. In other words slow your row it doesent look good for equity residential or property mgmt
