I lived at the Mark for a year and it is horrible... Soooo many break-ins, I lost 2 laptops. During the summer it gets hot AF and the A/C is vintage, which won't do any help anyways. The management is made up of complete -------. I'd have to say it was the worst year of my life, couldnt wait to move out. Blood on the walls, Ants and roaches everywhere. REAKS of piss!!..The building is "the hood" inside a building. Nightmare. STAY AWAY...! not to mention the security guards are drug dealers offering cocaine or weed, At least when I was there. My car was broken into twice as well!! I really could sit here all day and ----- about more stuff, but thats what comes to mind. GOODLUCK :) p.s. Maintenance is the only good thing about this place, GREAT GUYS VERY HELPFUL!!

I give this a 1 star, because the option to give ZERO doesn't exist. If you want to live in a building that's run by complete idiots with hallways that reek of trash and urine, then by all means move into The Mark Hollywood. Unfortunately I fell victim to the fabulous brochures, the 'prime location' and the belief that the unit I would get would be just like the gorgeous unit I was shown. Combined with the fact I desperately needed a place at the time, I soon became a resident of the infamous "The Mark". The reality was I got a completely different unit than promised, complete with urine stained carpet and walls (yes, the walls), cat hair in my fridge and giant roaches creeping out of every corner. Disgusting as it was, I begrudgingly made the best of what I had and steamed cleaned the apartment, bleached the walls and sealed every crack and corner in the place in an attempt to make the apartment livable for the remaining 12 months. My efforts have lead to a decent place that I can call home but unfortunately, no efforts on my part can put an end to the following: - the residents of this building seem to think when it comes to throwing their trash down the trash chute, they are exempt. On a daily basis, I encounter trash bags, old furniture, clothes and whatever else you can imagine sitting beside the trash. - the leasing office is run by ------- who SCREEN CALLS. On multiple occasions I have called the office, and been greeted by the answering machine. Seconds later, calling from a blocked number, I'd be able to get someone on the line. This would be great if they didn't give me the run around every time I call. I'm met with empty promises to return my call, which never come through. I'm not surprised I never get calls back though, considering they sneak out of the leasing office early quite often. I wish I could say incompetent accurately describes what you will deal with, but that word doesn't even begin to cover it. - their "policies" change depending on each resident. I've gotten to know several neighbors and learned that while I was never offered this, some residents have been granted keys and access to the gym at the Victor across the street or more than the "designated" amount of parking spaces per unit. Don't try to ask for what you aren't offered though, you'll be met with a snarky attitude and more dodged phone calls. - 3 months ago, the security guards cued me in on available Guest Parking spots at The Victor for when visitors might stop by. I was ELATED and could finally start inviting friends over for a few weeks but suddenly the guards "didn't know what I was talking about" and access to said parking spots was denied. Shady. - they like to make frequent "inspections" of the apartments, and will give you less than 24 hours' notice and a 3 day 9am to 6pm window of when they expect to come in - the parking is awful. This may be more the city of Hollywood than The Mark, but 1 hour in the meters will cost you 2 dollars. And forget about ever having friends over Thursday-Sunday, they will NEVER find parking unless they plan on paying for a spot in a nearby lot. - the entire building reeks of weed. And heaven forbid you want to leave a window open at night, because chances are some dumb --- stoner in the "zen garden" will be lighting up and giggling like a school girl throughout the night. - be prepared for "water and sewage" charges that NO ONE ELSE charges for. Also, be prepared for the price on said charges to spike with no explanation. Yes, I may have made the mistake of moving into this place promptly without exploring many other options... but that's why I'm writing this review. If I can save at least one person from moving into this --------, I can say I've done a good deed. Lastly -- seriously what is WITH the heavy --- lobby door? I've never encountered a door that is that difficult to open in my entire life.

My friend lived at 'The Mark' for one year. The building is a trash can and the management gives the word incompetent a whole new meaning. They post eviction notices at will for no apparent reason and give no regard to the tenants. Their accounting procedures are spotty and the management office holds on to tenant's packages and doesn't tell the tenants. The lease was 72 pages long. I've closed real estate deals with less documentation and signatures then this idiotic 12 month apartment lease. The deal was a moving target regarding alleged 'free rent' to induce someone to move in. There were more hooks attached to the so called free rent then at a carnival game. What a load of --------. The management are liars and incompetents. The apartments are dark, old and decrepit and incredibly overpriced, particularly when you add the water and sewage charges on which no other buildings charge for. They say 'wi-fi' is included however there is only wi-fi by the pool which if you don't live near it, you will not have a sufficient signal and you must hire Time Warner anyway and sign a contract. The common areas are also dirty and ill kept. The parking lot is dark and feels dangerous and a two spot apartment is really tandem parking which is impossible to deal with when you are in a hurry to get somewhere. There were many spaces available however management would not budge on offering a different space. It appears that the managers were taking cash from outsiders for some of the available spots. There is no central air conditioning and they supply poorly working electricity eating wall units. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. There is much better value in Hollywood. Take your time and check it out. I'd rather sleep on a sewer grate then live in this dive.

Ohter reviews say don't move in here. That's because at nite, people here are so very effing noisy. VERY DISRESPECTFUL. IT'S THE "ME WORLD" SYNDROM, AND IT'S BEING SELFISH !! Like last nite some idiot was yelling at the top of his lungs about having to pay $1500 a mo. for his apt. to some guy who was smoking? Anyway, this guy sounded like an undeducated baboon!! Definately has anger mngmnt. issues. LISTEN UP YOU NOISY AND DISREPECTFUL BASTARDS - GET A CLUE !! AND RESPECT YOUR FELLOW TENNANTS !! You're NOT the only people who live here. Is there anything called peace & quiet at the mark? If you want quiet, don't live there. Has nothing to do with the management. Has to do with uneducated, selfish and disrespectful peeps.

I currently live at The Mark and the other reviews are dead on. I moved in to The Mark in March '08 and to be fair, the first year was good. I never had any major problems and if I did have a maintenance problem it was normally solved that day and at the worse, I had to place a reminder call and the problem would be fixed; however, such was not the case for others that I lived by. For example, my neighbors constantly had to hound the office to fix their apartment that was constantly falling apart. Not to mention their balcony looked like it was breaking off the building due to horrible construction that resulted in a dangerous slope/angle that looked like someone could send it crashing down if they were to jump on it. Basically, it came/comes down to the luck of the draw with apartments. They are all in various stages of dissaray, its just a matter of which one you get. I am lucky in that my apartment has held up relatively well. My problem with this place lies in the building tenants and management itself. For example, when I first moved into the building, it stated on my lease that there was a gym. It wasn't until after I signed my lease, and went to go to the gym did I find out that it doesn't exist. After joining together with other tenants we are finally "allowed" to use The Victors gym during business hours when their office graciously decides to let us in. Moving on, lets talk about how they had/ still have an ever rotating management team so it makes it hard to figure out who exactly is in charge. The first guy that I signed my lease with ended up getting caught for stealing peoples deposits and selling off parking spaces to people who didn't live in the building! As a result, we ALL had to be re-assigned new keys/parking spots which was a nightmare because they couldn't even do that right. My biggest complaint is the noise level in this building! It's ridiculous and beyond annoying. I'm not talking about a person that plays their music too loud, it's more like people having parties in the back porch that last until 9am on a Monday morning. No, I'm not exaggerating; this happened this week. I was woken up at 3am on a Monday morning to screaming and partying and this is with all my doors/windows closed, air conditioner and fan on to drown out the noise. I called security to tell them to leave because no one is supposed to be making noise out there past 10pm and he only told them to be more quiet. Shockingly, it didn't work and after a sleepless night, when I left for work the next morning at 9am, they were still out there smoking weed and drinking wine! Also my first year there, I had the luck of living next to four guys in a two bedroom that decided to build a skate ramp in their living room. No joke. I saw their apartment after they moved out and they had literally built a ramp that took up the living room space, which they loved to ride particularly between the hours of 2-5 am. I called and complained about the noise level coming from their apartment and the management brushed me off as a over zealous, quick to complain type, only to find out that I was right when they moved out and found a trashed apartment, skate ramp and destroyed walls. So, I guess the joke was on them? That brings me to the next problem, this place is a drug den, and this is coming from someone who likes to smoke weed occasionally! If you like the constant smell of meth and crack, don't mind finding pipes littered on the floor, then this place is for you! The local homeless have figured out that it doesn't take much to break into this place and have at times made their selves at home in the back patio, crack pipes and all- i have the pictures to prove it and the local police have the arrest reports from others calling on them as well. Also the constant break-ins and notes posted by the management about the break-ins doesn't help when it comes to feeling safe. All in all, this is the WORSE apartment building I have ever lived in. Although the rent and "amenities" are enticing, you figure out pretty quickly that it's not worth the hassle/headache!

I signed onto a year lease in september 09. little did i know at the time that the greyhound station is less than a block away. The carpeting in the rooms is of terrible quality, our counter fell off, the main light in my bedroom has not worked for months, the electrical outlets are all extremely loose, plugs can fall out or just hang there. Severe electrical hazard. We've had the same ant problems. The cold water in my shower randomly shuts off for extended periods of time, sometimes in the midst of a shower. Somebody on my floor smokes a gratuitous amount of really hard drugs. I have been bringing in valid, post-dated cheques for my rent since the very beginning. At this point i'm paid up almost until my lease ends, my room mate and i have now received 3 or 4 eviction notices because the management conveniently forgets where they put your money or neglects to maintain a record of it. I was days away from being kicked out of my apartment recently when both me and my room mate were a month and a half ahead on rent. 4 days after this was supposedly resolved, we received another 3 day notice on our door asking for the full total of the new month's rent, the cheques for which cleared 2 days prior. Chuntae and her band of goons may be the least competent management staff in all of Hollywood. Other landlords/property managers know of this and i have received more than a few sympathetic pats on the back from them when they hear that i live at the mark. Also, if you're looking for a 2 bedroom joint, the lease says the tenants are entitled to two parking spaces in the lot. What they don't tell you is that these spaces are both assigned AND tandem, which is an absolute nightmare when you need to get somewhere fast. when asked about compact or individual spaces, of which there were many availabilities, they did absolutely nothing to help, go figure. As well, the cost of rent and in addition utilities is borderline astronomical. we have had a string of break-ins over the last few weeks. When confronted regarding security measures the management simply replied "We will make note of your complaint," implying they had no intention of upping security to get rid of this thief. This does not even begin to scratch the surface of the plethora other issues i have had with this awful building and it's management. I feel bad for the maintenance guy, he's there 24 hours, works like a dog, and has to answer to those stuck up, disorganized failures.

The management at this building and the Victor across the street is really, really bad. When I first moved in (I drove 19 hours from Colorado to move in on January 6) I had called ahead of time to double check that they had my move in date, the lease ready to be signed and keys to be ready for me to move in when I pulled up, and how much the bank check needed to be for security and first/last months rent, etc. Not only had the previous manager that I was dealing with stole my application fee (over $100) but they also had the move in date wrong and told me the wrong amount for the check. The manager on site that day was very rude, they wouldn't let me move in, and charged me way over what had already been established. I signed a 6 month lease, and when I asked to get a copy of the lease, it took them over three months to get it to me, and the date had been changed so it was an 8 month lease. The staff in the office never has any clue what is going on. They are not qualified to be in an apartment management office. They are always annoyed when a resident comes in to ask a question or ask for a FedEx/UPS package left in the office. The main manager knowingly gives out an incorrect email and phone number so that she doesn't have to deal with complaints or emergencies. No one in the office knows what her schedule is or how to even get in touch with her. When she does happen to be in the office, she is sitting at the computer playing solitaire and tells you she is "too busy" to help. They are all very rude. The building itself is disgusting. The hallway carpets smell and are stained and need to be replaced. The building needs an overall deep cleaning and repainting. Half the time the main gate and front door locks don't work, so anyone can walk in. The stairwells smell like a port-a-potty and are always trashed with cigarettes and beer cans/bottles. It is always noisy with people on the balconies (that doesn't really bother me, but for some, it might). The apartments need to be updated with new carpets and kitchen/bathroom cabinets. My silverware containers are too big to fit in any of the kitchen drawers. The location is alright if you want to be close to bars/clubs on Hollywood Blvd or Cahuenga, or be close to the 101 and Home Depot/Target/Best Buy and the movie theaters. Overall, this is the worst management company I have ever had to deal with in Los Angeles or Colorado. I would not recommend living here at all. There are far better places in the area to live.

This Place is a complete train wreck! There is urine everywhere, human and animal! Aside from it being a severe health concern it is sooooo over priced for what they offer it is disgusting. Don't try to swim in the pool because it is FREEZING ALL YEAR round. The hollywood homeless break in and sleep in the common area and bath in the pool... So maybe it's good you can't swim in it :) In the summer the building is infested with ants, and there was a recent concern of bed bugs! I know I've had fun dealing with this and complaining to managers that don't care but don't take my word for it.... Give The Mark Hollywood a try and you can hate your life too!
