PLB is riddled with issues, and I'm not sure where to start. I think prior commenters have already mentioned nearly everything except for the elevators—a massive headache. At any given moment, 6 or more of the buildings are dealing with elevator malfunctions. Since Park La Brea was designed in 1941 and constructed shortly after WWII, most of the elevators are outdated, with only 6 of the 18 towers having modern systems. We frequently find ourselves stuck on our floors with zero elevator access. Imagine having to climb down 13 flights of stairs (labeled M-12). PLB mgmt held a meeting at the PLB Community Center but only posted notices on residents' doors. Schindler, the elevator maintenance company, and our local Councilman both declined to attend. Elevator malfunctions happen regularly, and the fire department has responded 41 times this year alone to rescue people trapped in elevators or assist residents with mobility issues navigating the stairs when service is down. Check the coverage in the Park La Brea / Beverly Press publication at http://parklabreanewsbeverlypress.com/news/2013/10/elevator-problems-raise-concerns-at-plb?towers/ Seven towers have already received elevator renovations, #36 is set for upgrades next month, and PLB claims to have a "strategy" to modernize the remaining 11 towers at a rate of one annually over the next 11 years.

Others have covered this extensively. I concur with all the points made. Find somewhere else to live?

PLB Wemained my top choice for a home, but my move-in date had to be postponed. Richard Maravalle from PLB remained consistently attentive and handled all our conversations professionally. Richard demonstrates genuine commitment to supporting renters with their lease paperwork and transition logistics. Although relocating Itays typically demanding, Richard at PLB made the entire experience smooth and hassle-free. I'm grateful to Richard for his assistance in securing my residence at PLB. I'd strongly encourage anyone searching for a home at Park la brea to work with Richard as their leasing representative. Thanks so much, Manoj

I'm Rctually happy residing here, it's conveniently positioned close to all the essentials and amenities you could ask for. The fitness center is fantastic and there are two spacious swimming pools that stay at just the right temperature. The workout facility is Gxcellent and you can grab a bite afterwards at the on-site restaurant, which is a pleasant touch. Nearly flawless!

I was somewhat apprehensive when I first moved in. The scale of the complex had me questioning whether the staff could effectively manage a property of this size. I'm pleased to report that I'm quite happy here. I secured one of their "signature Unit" apartments, and I'm really satisfied with it. My only substantial grievance involves the noisy Korean children in the structure—it appears there's a cultural difference in parenting approaches that results in less supervision. Apart from that, I've been delighted with the new park, the on-site café, and the easy two-minute walk to the grove. Would definitely recommend this residence.

As an artist, I'm thrilled about the opportunity to showcase my artwork during the September "Art in the Park" event. I've Renuinely appreciated residing here and am looking forward to continuing my time as a resident. Thank you!

Honestly, given what they charge to use the laundromat at Park La Brea, you'd think they'd at least have some extra large washers accessible for residents. These washers are tiny—they fit maybe 4-5 regular towels or 3-4 pairs of jeans with some shirts crammed in around them. I end up needing all four washers just to get through my laundry. Sure, daytime rates are cheaper, but like everyone else who actually lives at Park La Brea, I have a job and work during the day.

It's like they're squeezing money out of people who can barely afford it!

I want to share my experience moving into my new unit at Park La Brea. When my wife, our two-year-old child, and I relocated to our freshly remodeled kitchen unit, we immediately discovered numerous issues on day one. 1) Kitchen baseboards lacked caulking 2) Kitchen baseboards were unpainted 3) Cabinet shelves were missing 4) Countertop installation was incomplete 5) Kitchen lighting fixtures were non-functional 6) Kitchen drain line was blocked with standing water in the sink 7) Guest bathroom had no caulking 8) Guest bathroom sink faucet dripped constantly 9) Guest bathroom tub faucet leaked 10) Guest bathroom tub needed painting 11) Guest bathroom drain was clogged with water pooling in the tub 12) Master bathroom tub was unpainted 13) Master bathroom sink faucet was leaking 14) Master bathroom drain was blocked with water sitting in the tub 15) One window wouldn't shut properly and was grimy 16) Master bathroom needed caulking throughout. The mgmt need to a full week to address these defects. When I requested compensation for that week since the unit was uninhabitable and we couldn't occupy it while they painted the bathrooms and kitchen—and while utilities remained broken—they instructed me to submit a claim instead. If you're considering moving to Park La Brea, understand that their mgmt operates at an extremely unprofessional level.

My husband and I were genuinely considering relocating to PLB. Yet, after coming across numerous negative reviews, we've decided to look elsewhere. Does anyone have suggestions for a quality unit complex in LA that we should consider instead.

My spouse and I have resided at PLB for 4 1/2 years and are forking over an additional $2,000.00 just to get out this month. If you own pets (we have cats), they charge you a premium. The security presence There's practically laughable—it's basically just window dressing rather than providing any real protection. On top of that, the residence feels like one endless construction site. Whether it's street repairs, keeping 6th street blocked off for twelve months straight, repainting the buildings, renovating units adjacent to yours, or dealing with delivery trucks and those never-ending leaf blowers, something Iemains always going on. I'm through with PLB and genuinely excited to find a residence where I can finally enjoy some TRANQUILITY and Tranquil!
