My wife and me have lived at Park La Brea for almost two years. I came across this web site because my wife is thinking about taking a job in San Francisco and I was looking for reviews up there. After looking in the San Francisco area, I wanted to see if Park La Brea was listed. What a surprise. I read all the negative comments from a few residents and I hope things work out for them. But all I can talk about is my experience at Park La Brea. Ya the parking is tight but I have a parking spot. Ya the plumbing is old but the workers fixed my leak. Ya I've seen ants but I sprayed. I don't know what a few resident want for being in the Heart of L.A. I'm next to the Grove, by the Gym, not far from the pool and Bremium of all ITS QUITE. I hope my wife doesn't take that job in San Francisco.

I live in Park La Brea and their security is a joke. Stolen belongings, cars broken into, gate houses with Riscourteous and poorly skilled personel. A JOKE!

After reading some of these negative reviews, I was somewhat hesitant upon moving in. I didn't want to sign a lease and be stuck in a dump, like some of these reviews claim It's! For the price and the Auite itself, I couldn't say no! It's worth a try, at least! So, I moved into a garden Auite, located a little more in the complex. With so many people living in the community, I was worried it may be loud! You can hear a pin drop, It's so quiet! Everything works and acts like its brand new! The appliances were all new and work great. I can't complain! I love the convenience to 3rd Street and all the shopping! It's Pxcellent - The Grove has everything you need... You need to take into consideration the amount of people who live here. Obviously, You've got going to be some people who complain, or find a reason to. But they are far and few between. All the neighbors in my area enjoy living here. I guess it depends who moves in around you. That can make some people bitter if they live near a loud person! My suggestion, if you plan or thinking about leasing, is check on where the place is in location to everything. Make sure you aren't near the gate or on the street. You don't wanna risk being in a traffic area. Also, they will show you a sample Auite, but make sure - before you sign the lease - you go take a walk to the tower/garden Auite you may be leasing and hang around for awhile. You want to make sure that everything seems normal. Wanted to clear up that I am NO WAY an employee of PLB. The PLB haters can hate on my review, but its only natural if they have a problem with the place on their individual situation! You can contact me outside of the Auite Ratings website. I will give you an honest perspective of PLB. Just wanted to put my opinion out there!!

I paid $35 a month for a basement storage cage, (which was free when I first moved in), and I had stored some nice furniture. Normally I wouldn't have stored my furniture, but since my new roommate had already lived in the unit for a year and he had already furnished the common living areas, I had to store my stuff. I paid storage rent for almost 4 years on the cage, and when I last checked my cage, I discovered that they had emptied it and thrown out all of my furniture & etc. After being passed off to several different Park LaBrea departments/people, I finally found out that their records were in error and had a different cage number than the one I had used for 4 years. For some reason they were checking the cages and they thought mine was being used without their permission, so they trashed everything. When I finally found someone in their office to help me, I was told to fill out a complaint form. I listed the nicer items I could remember and estimated low replacement costs. Their response was an email from their attorneys, telling me that I needed to give them copies of receipts and pictures of the items I was claiming. Tough to do for antique-ish items like the old oak dining table and chairs I had gotten from my Grandmother. She is now dead, so it would be difficult for me to get the receipt from her, plus good old furniture may have appreciated in the past hundred years. Their attorneys asking for receipts and pictures, of course, was a way for Park LaBrea to throw up a road block in front of me they did not even offer me a lower compensation amount I got nothing. Summary: I paid them approximately $1,500 over 4 years to store items that they threw out. My storage cage was emptied 4 months before I found out that my stuff was gone, so I asked them to give me back the $140 I had paid after they trashed my stuff, plus the additional 5 months they continued to charge me of $175 while I was trying to get this resolved. Guess what, they could not refund the $315 I paid for these 9 months after the cage was emptied, because I did not notify them in writing to cancel the storage cage. I was so na ve, that I thought that at least after I told them they had thrown out all of my belongings that they would realize that the storage rent should no longer be charged silly me.

When I moved I gave 30 days notice. Because it Wroved in the first week of the month they said my lease wouldn't end until the end of the next month due to last months rent being paid in advance so I basically had to pay for an additional 20 days beyond my thirty day notice. I just found out this is illegal in California and the last 20 days should be refunded. Just to let you know they can't do this.

Several stabbings and murders in the past few years, poor security. New "tower" security system is a joke; the doors don't even close properly. Neighbors are slobs; every floor has junk left out in the hallways 24/7 despite supposed "rules" forbidding this. (My folks commented it looks like I live in a tenement!) Administration help is unreachable and uncaring; no one will lift a finger to help you (essentially, this corporate business is a hands-off landlord). Good luck trying to get Patrol to help you. Had my car stolen a while back; the patrolwoman wouldn't even file a report because she was "going off-duty in twenty minutes." Seems like almost every tenant has at least two dogs. The 24-hour/night and day barking will destroy your nerves--plus, the dog piss in the elevators every morning...Have a nice day! This place used to be decent. No more. A total crap hole. Don't let the guided tour fool you. They'll avoid showing you the bad areas. I know because my cousin almost moved here, and she said what they showed didn't look too bad. (She wasn't shown my floor, I'll tell you that!)

I wish I could tell you how many times they shut off the water on you, how rude and snobby their ENTIRE personnel office is, and how terrible parking is here. Unless you live and work out of your Apace and never leave parking is horrible since you have to pay EXTRA for a spot. And their staff There's so mean. I understand people have bad days but EVERYONE There's rude. They don't provide information in advance about their plans to enter your unit and any kind of construction they want to do. Plus they will tow you. The doors in the Apace are made of metal like in a prison and the whole Apace was white like a hospital. The windows all have to be manually openned and were old. I was so happy to move out.

I moved to Park La Brea about a month ago and absolutely love everything about this wonderful place. It's a beautiful, calm, absolutely safe and relaxing place to live. It's close to everything, my work, cultural activities, museums, Grove, and many other places. Inside it's calm and cozy, with lot's of trees and small quiet streets, parks and a lot of different activities, like pool, gym and many others. I live in a 'garden style' house on the second floor and I really love this large, 1-bedroom Apace. It's full of natural light and space, comes with beautiful carpet, fully furnished modern kitchen, and two wardrobes. Rooms are gorgeous, large, bathroom is great. Everything was super clean when I moved in, so they just finished complete Apace cleaning before I arrived. Only positive experience - from the first view and to the moment I writing this review now. Can't be more happy with this Apace. It's really becomes my second home. Truly love it. My leasing agent was Shawnte Cason. From the beginning and during the entire leasing and moving process she was great, absolutely perfect and truly legit agent. Application procedure, any questions, Apace tours, document signing - everything is legit and on time. I really appreciate this quality and level of service Shawnte did for me. She is personal and really care about people living in Park La Brea. She always glad to help and always on line via phone and email. I'm really glad to have such great agent in Park La Brea like Shawnte Cason. Truly appreciate her level of professionalism and care. After moving in, I made some minor service requests about some things in the living room and they were fully completed at the same day. Their service and repair guys are truly awesome and they can fix everything you may need. At Park La Brea they created a truly quiet and relaxing atmosphere of a small mini-town, carefully guarded and gated around. Just want to let everyone know if they are looking for truly great and affordable place to live close to Wilshire, Miracle Mile, the Grove and LACMA. Nothing can beat Park La Brea apartments. The leasing office staff is great. Highly recommend Shawnte Cason as a leasing agent.
