I have to say that South Park is one of my favorite places i have stayed at in LA! I get that parking and congestion can be an issue...but come on! you live in LA, when is that never a problem??! My dog and I really love the sundeck area!! So relaxing, and you literally see the entire view of DTLA! not to mention the staff and management is super friendly! The property manager is great...he always answers his phone, and anytime i have a question or issue-he is always there! I highly recommend this place!!

My husband and I are looking for a place,so we have been shopping all around this area. This is def. the one! The building and units are really great! You wouldn't think so by just looking at the building from the outside. So modern and upgraded-and we fell in love with the sundeck and gym. The units are spacious and I love the brick details. Once we got finished up with the tour, we couldn't stop thinking about it!

Polaris Management and South Park Lofts are the greediest, most uncaring landlords I've dealt with in my entire life. If you look carefully, you'll see that this place is FILTHY. They don't clean properly and that's symbolic of the dirtiness of their minds and souls. They ignore all tenant requests: broken appliances, mold, flooding, plumbing infrastructure issues, filthy gym, filthy jacuzzi, no lights working... you name it. They also hire the CHEAPEST CONTRACTORS possible; they recently ruined some beautiful brick walls by hiring idiots! Don't be fooled... once you move here, you're going to have one problem after another. Go to a REAL loft in other parts of South Park... there are so many better places. We currently still DON'T EVEN HAVE A FULL-TIME MANAGER, which is ILLEGAL! No 24-hour security either and there have been repeated robberies.

stay away from this building! Polaris, the management company, is horrible. There is flooding, water damage, and vandalized property.

I lived in this building for 5 years. The building really started out beautiful and well maintained. The interior design was exquisite. There was a full time concierge, maintenance man and manager. The neighborhood is noisy and the building does not have soundproof windows. Firetrucks made phone conversations impossible about a dozen times a day because there is a nearby fire station on Olive. Roof leaks were common in upper units. There was once a flood that ruined half a dozen units and flooded the basement. The units were noisy especially with clacking high heels on the concrete floors above you. The elevators often were broken for long periods of time (weeks). The fire system often misfired causing erroneous evacuations. Originally the building was only open to upscale tenants but slowly it turned into an offsite USC dorm with many late night parties. In 2008 there was a change of management. Concierge disappeared. Maintenance was outsourced. A new manager came in who was not very experienced and brought along a San Fernando Valley aesthetic which took a toll on the building's interior design. She also was not very friendly or helpful. The building started to go down hill. Originally there was a community patrol that was very visible in South Park. With the declining economy this patrol all but disappeared. Homeless people were more prevalent including homeless mental patients. In 2009 I was attacked by a mental patient with a small knife. 2 weeks later I saw someone else attacked by a thief with a large knife across the street. The manager thought this was funny when I told her about it.

Bring your umbrella! I lived in Unit 801 on the top floor. I wonder if it still has a leaking problem EVERY time it rains. (I have attached a pic of the ceiling) Not a downpour but a constant trickle. They had various roofers come in and tar the roof but they never solved it while I was there. Not surprisingly the unit had serious dampness issues. The corner wall in the living room on the Grand Avenue side had white peach fuzz growing on the lower wall. Its called mineral efflorescence. I've attached a picture. Another negative is that they allow the dogs to defecate on the roof. I couldn't leave my apartment window wide open because of the flies that would come in from the lovely manure pile above me. How quaint. If you think its OK for your building's pet policy to allow this, let me know where you live and I'll come take a dump on your roof. Because I don't see the difference between animal and human waste. South Park Lofts is in a great location and is pretty quiet (except when the drunks come pouring out of Big Wangs across the street at closing time). The apartments look good with brick walls and polished floors. But there is construction issues within the building that have caused my apartment to have leaks in addition to other units having the same problem. Maybe you will be luckier than me.
