San Fernando Building: This is the place for you if you're not bothered by a pin dropping above you, regular leaks from air conditioner and windows which can ruin all your belongings if you're not there at the time, filthy common areas such as walls, baseboards, laundry rooms, etc., poor security, with front door often wide open (usually nights and weekends) because no one takes time time to close it, and management team that will make you wrong whenever you ask for what you're entitled to. Beware of bait & switch.

We've been Downtown residents for over 6 years and after spending our first year in the Pegasus (boo!) we have been very happy in our Old Bank District loft for the last 5.5 years. I like that there is a lot of flexibility to the space ... we've been able to rearrange our setup a number of times. Although the management & maintenance is by no means perfect, they are nice & responsive which counts for a lot. And its not every landlord that lives in his own building. I have a lot of respect for Tom & his business as a result. The thing I love most though is the community. I like that it is a friendly building. People chat in the elevator & in the hall. We greet each other on the street & at the local bars & restaurants. We know local business owners & they know us. I credit the dog-friendliness of the neighborhood as a major part of this. More people are on the street & wagging tails lead to conversations. We have seen the safety of the neighborhood grow over time and I think this will continue to improve. Basic lesson: know where to go & where not to & be aware of your surroundings just as in any big city. I highly recommend the Old Bank District Lofts to everyone I know that is looking for a new fun place to live.
