“Pros: Good amenities and location. Near the C train. Friendly doorman. Cons: Amenities are sometimes broken. Lots of kids running around in common area. Rooms are small. Random brown water issue one time.”
— 539 VANDERBILT AVENUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Newer building with every amenity you could ask for. Front desk staff are super friendly and maintenance is very attentive. Beautiful common spaces. Units are all modern with laundry and dishwashers in unit. Large floor to ceiling windows as well. The building is managed professionally and the building always feels clean. C train is very close by. Cons: Front desk staff are only there from 11 am - 7 pm. To utilize any amenity there is an additional $70 monthly amenity fee, which doesn’t include access to the tiny outdoor pool ($1200 extra). There is constant construction noise during the day due to the commercial space on the 2nd floor. There are many units / residents from the NYC housing connect which means there are some unique neighbors. Take with that what you will. Units are pretty small. Studios are tiny and one bedrooms are basically under 300 sqft of living space. You’re only really by the C train. All other subways are quite a walk / bus ride away. Advice to landlord: 24/7 front desk person & don’t charge residents to utilize amenities in the building.”

“Unit 14G Pros: nice units, floor to ceiling windows, luxury buildings, clean units Cons: windows were never cleaned, units are small, gym and pool are small, management is difficult to work with Advice to landlord: hire new management”
— 545 VANDERBILT AVE NUE · Brooklyn“Pros: Staff is great, apartment views are awesome, great gym Cons: Lots of nickel and diming on fees, issues with leaks, has very small appliances that keep having issues”
— 545 VANDERBILT AVE NUE · Brooklyn“Unit 17h Pros: convenience you’ll be next to train Cons: The building is racist ! Advice to landlord: Treat all tenants equally!”
— 545 VANDERBILT AVE NUE · Brooklyn“Pros: It's nice and new; well kept, friendly staff, decent amenities (but see cons for more), pet friendly with no additional fee, and has a decent location. Apartments are nice enough but small for the price, but that's probably on par with a lot of the newer developments. Central heating and air are a plus. Cons: This is a new building so the communication has been inconsistent, rules change all the time (suddenly they're asking for an additional fee for pool access, on top of the existing amenity fee); utilities were not charged for 6 months, the keyless entry system (via an app) can be glitchy. Residents haven't had access to the primary outdoor space for months. If you live in a market rate unit, you have no proper stove, just a microwave/convection oven combo--environmentally friendly, sure, but the learning curve is a challenge. Location is convenient but you are at the intersection of two incredibly busy streets. Certainly not the management's fault but if you appreciate quiet & like to keep your windows open, it's probably not for you. Advice to landlord: Please communicate with residents in a clear and timely fashion. The newness of the building is understood but there should have been certain things in place before allowing move-ins. The bait-and-switch with the amenities is not a good look. Considering giving tenants a bit more in exchange for inconveniences.”
