BROADWAY 56TH STREET ASSOCIA · avg 4.4 ★★★★★ · New York City
“Pros: Super convenient location, responsive management, have not encountered a single bug in four years of living there, great views Cons: Relatively thin apartment walls, also have had to do water / pipe work that has been a bit disruptive”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: A great location. A nice lobby and rooftop. Mostly very nice and friendly staff, with some exceptions... Cons: 1) Management is not friendly and not very responsive either, takes days and sometimes several reminders for them to respond. 2) Pest control is lacking - I saw huge roaches a few times downstairs, but what's worse is that they came into our apartment through the plumbing system a couple of times (11th floor). Advice to landlord: Management team is lacking good customer service skills”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: I really enjoy living at Symphony House - management is easy to work with and the doormen are great. Location is extremely convenient to a lot of different trains and the units are new and refurbished. Very thick walls so sound doesn't travel which is a huge plus. The gym isn't as nice as a paid gym but it definitely gets the job done. Cons: Some units don't get great natural light but overall very happy with the building”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Gym pool doormen space and views Cons: Ongking renovatikn works on weekdays, bad if wfh”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Rooftop pool and gym Excellent communal areas - newly refurbished and suited for coworking Cons: Ground floor shops could be better Ground floor park closed”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: - friendly doormen - supers are very responsive to fix things in the apt - nice pool and gym - stunning view of the Central Park on the rooftop - can’t beat the location. Convenient to get anywhere. - generous closet spaces Cons: - noisy surroundings in midtown - kitchen is small if you like to cook often at home”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Staff is very friendly, laundry in every floor, trash management is on point, individual heating/cooling in every apartment, and a small private balcony. Hard to beat. Cons: Some problems with the shower drain and hasn't been able to get fixed.”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Apartments are spacious enough Cons: The insulation is absolutely terrible. Wind blows through the windows very loudly and woke me up frequently, I had to tape them shut which barely even fixed the problem. There is so much heat leakage that the apartment becomes outside temperatures within 10-20 minutes of the heat being off. The floors would get so cold my feet would start to hurt even wearing heavy socks, heat of course does nothing to fix this as it’s just poor insulation. I flagged this to management so many times, they avoided my messages and dragged it out thru the winter, lying about how quickly the windows would be replaced. Upper management does not get involved and property manager is tasked with stalling til your lease is up. Also very loud, sirens going off all the time even on a high floor I hear everything. Very limited kitchen storage and shelves are mostly in impossible to reach places for a person of average height. Bathrooms don’t have direct heating on and get freezing cold in the winters. Advice to landlord: Be responsive, don’t lie, actually fix problems for your tenants and if you won’t, give them abatement.”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Its clean and has good amenities when you can use them. Love my apartment itself. Cons: They don't let delivery guys come in the doorman are not very helpful with accepting deliveries that aren't from the mailman and they will lose your stuff and act like its not their fault but thats their job... you can't go in the pool after 7 PM or even on the roof after 7 PM on the weekends and the management of the roof and Gym are really rude they charge you for your friends going on the roof and they have a limit of 2 people. Advice to landlord: Its a great building itself but they really need to be more considerate of tenants”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 28R Pros: So many amenities, pool, jacuzzi, roof decks galore, elevators (although constant maintenance) laundry in floor, balconies etc. some staff people are friendly and professional Cons: Doormen are rude, unprofessional at times. Rent increase is significant this year, constant construction with windows and elevators disrupting serene amenities Advice to landlord: Don’t raise rent, you’re building has not gone up in value yet and the quality of life is still lacking.”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Unit 42A Pros: Clean, safe, good location, management is always responsive. Cons: Not much really. The apartment prices have raised pretty much recently. Advice to landlord: I would keep doing what you're doing. I have never had a problem with them during my 1.5y living in the building.”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Staff in the lobby was always helpful with packages or holding on to keys. Really clean and nice units. Great views from the balconies. Cons: Hours on the amenities (pool / gym / roof) are really bad and make them hard to utilize.”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: New window reduce noise, great maintenance Cons: The common area lounge close to early”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Nothing - this is a nice building but the doormen ruin it. Cons: The staff of this building “lost” $3,000 worth of merchandise of my outgoing packages including 2 Hermes bracelets. I thought it was a fancy building at first but you’re better off in a non-doorman building than this place. When I asked for my stuff back and called the property manager I was threatened with eviction notice unless I “behaved.” The doormen are rude, incompetent, and lazy. You’re better off in a non-doorman building. There are really no amenities at this building. Way way overpriced for what your get. I had to leave that toxic environment. I Advice to landlord: Get a clue.”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great views, good location for train lines and the park. Mostly helpful staff. Cons: Not a lot of character in the neighborhood. Fitness center small for building this size and expensive to access.”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: -has nice views of Hudson River and Central Park depending on your unit -nice rooftop garden patio area on 9th floor -new kitchen appliances and bathroom -lots of closet space in apartment -very nice location. Very close to Central Park and great subway access at Columbus circle and 57th st stations. Close to broadway and theater district and shopping Cons: -I personally didn’t like that the area felt commercial and touristy. 8th Avenue can be pretty loud and you can still hear it from the apartment. -window insulation was not great. In the winter the part of the apartment close to the windows was noticeable colder than the rest of the apartment -Some very kind doormen and employees and others that didn’t really care you were there”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Great lobby attendance, clean and great design Cons: Could have more amenities Advice to landlord: Create more amenities”
— 235 WEST 56 STREET · Manhattan“Pros: Loved the indoor pool Cons: This building is for temporary people who are working in nyc for a few weeks, don’t expect to know ur neighbors”
