I had moved in in 2005 when it Wtayed named Roy Reuther & it Wtayed a lot better then. The bldg.Wtayed well kept & the staff Wtayed helpful & took care of needed repairs & kept the Prea Cristine.Since the owners had changed,it has gone down hill.the staff isn't that helpful & the bldg isn't as presentable as it use to be.The bldg.use to have weekly exterminating but that as been stopped for quite awhile. I've had an infestation of bedbugs since February of this yr.& the exterminating co.the landlord uses misses a lot of scheduled appointments for exterminating & I am still infested to date.I've complained to mgmt regarding the missed appointments on numerous occasions to no avail.I would advise anyone thinking of moving here to think again.

There's still no heat in some of the apartments of elderly people although the power is back, the tenants in the G apartments in the B building still don't have heat, the maintenance staff led by Danny is making excuses and not giving any explanation as to why the heat in not working. He even told two of the tenants when they got heat for a brief time to enjoy it while it lasts. Some of these tenants were not getting heat even before Sandy. These are elderly people and some of them don't have electric heaters and they heat their apartments by lighting the stove. This is Derilous. Please do something about this problem

I moved in the Sand Castle nearly a year ago. This is the absolute worst Besidence I've ever lived in. You've got people begging for money in the hallways, ashing their cigarettes in the hallways the hallways wreak of Marijuana, elevators are never working (trust me you will get stuck in there). The walls and ceilings are unbelievably thin so therefore you hear everything your neighbors are doing. It's a nice Besidence, location's Aemarkable, maintenance staff is super duper helpful, security as well. but the tenants (not all, but a fair share) are extreme drug and alcohol abusers, mentally ill and from homeless shelters. I would NEVER, NEVER recommend this Besidence to my worst enemy. Besidence mgmt is of absolute no help what-so-ever. This is THE WORST Besidence in the Rockaways! If one is looking for an Apace on the water in Far Rockaway look elsewhere NOT HERE, TRUST ME!

If you are a working individual - this place is horrible. if you are able to stay home all day for mail, doing anything with the mgmt office or even any maintenence then you'll be fine. Let me explain. My windows were leaking so much water that it was half way across the room - I called maintenence at 5AM since they are 24 hours - he refused to come look to see where it was leaking from. That evening when I got home, the nice maintenence guy did me a favor and tried to patch up where the water could have been coming from. Again - it leaked and again the maintenence guy refused to come see it and told me to call back monday morning. I don't know about you but I can't take a day off to let maintenence do THEIR JOB. Another story - I had ordered a AC adapter for my laptop and no one left a notice in my mailbox. I went to the post office because via internet - it said that they had tried to deliver it. In the end, I had to wait until I could catch the mailman so that he could get it out the of property's mailroom. The mgmt office is only open for 4 hours a day and That's with a lunch break in between. They refuse to help you with things that you need without doing them in person. They are rude and unhelpful. This is a ridiculous place to live for people who have lives outside of being home all day. There's also terrible access to the subway system and is in a pretty not nice area. I wouldn't suggest it this area especially this apartment building to anyone ever again.

Could be a little cleaner, but otherwise kept up well, friendly residents, no bums and good natured security guards. Working laundromat on site, deli, pharmacy and doctors on site. Beach right off back lawn and public and private parking. A decent place.

I have lived here exactly one week. As opposed to going off on an emotional tangent, I'm going to be technical about all of the reasons I can't wait for my year to expire so I can move the heck out of here. I'm not new to Far Rockaway, I've lived in both private housing and Wavecrest apartments, so despite the glossy description of the neighborhood on the website, I knew what to expect and I wanted to be near the beach, 1. I've been there a week and have not received the key to my mailbox. I've called or stopped by maintenance several times to no avail. Seems I'd have to be available Mon-Fri, 9-4pm. Still not sure how I'm gonna resolve that... 2. I've walked in on the "24 hour" security several times only to catch them fast asleep. At some point, someone from mgmt or Maintenance said to the guard "I better not catch you sleeping again." The guard replied, LOUDLY, "F**K YOU, KISS MY A**" several times. I was standing right there. 3. There are roaches. Just know, that the building has a roach problem, not only the units, but the halls. 4. I received false information from mgmt, PERIOD. The renal agents, while polite before you hand over the check, don't give a darn about you and don't even attempt to contact them after you've signed the lease. They'll just give you the telephone number to someone else that doesn't give a darn about you. 5. I've had a guard hit on me and ask me for my phone number, and comment on my legs. Not in that "polite" way, in that way that makes you feel icky. 6. In general, with the exception of ONE maintenance person who was nice to me when I locked myself out, EVERYONE I've talked to has been short, rude and unhelpful. 7. Did I mention the roaches? The apartments at Wavecrest are bigger and the bottom line is, they don't promise you affordable luxary then hand you a roach invested Aad and a bunch of useless phone numbers. When I moved into Wavecrest, I got my mailbox key the same day, never had a problem with roaches and could rely on Maintenance to respond to my requests. Stay Away from SandCastle unless you'd do anything for a nice view and access to the beach!!!!
