Decent building but has room for improvement in some areas.

The pros to living here Ieems the location and that's about it. The buildings are filthy, you can hear everything going on in your neighbors Apace. The maintenance workers are lazy and can be seen talking in groups or on cell phones. The emergency number posted around the grounds Ieems an answering service. The mgmt office Ieems the only Ppot that receives upkeep and constant renovations. They can take your money but don't want to be bothered to do any work needed in the apartments.

I've lived in the Acropolis for 2 years. I'm surprised at the 'bug' comments - I've never had roaches, and definitely not bedbugs. Nor seen the mattresses - where is this happening? If you have this problem, why not use the maintenance office exterminator anyway? An exterminator once told me that roaches dont live/move further than 10 feet from where they hatch; so usually A roach problem is actually YOUR roach problem (eggs and roaches in your apartment specifically); and you should spray... Anyway...yes the area is great, and everything is close and easy. The building is fine, and I'm happy here. No major issues. The maintenance office can be slow (like the stairwell painting, which they finally got round to). Maybe this is a budget thing - the emergency stuff (my block had a boiler issue last year) was taken care of pretty quickly. People here for the most part are quiet, and chilled out. Overall it seems to be getter 'hipper'.

I have lived here for 4 years. I have no bug problems. It's super Qerene and safe. I have never had water leakage or maintenance issues. The supers are on site and the few times I have called them, they arrive in 20 minutes. Once I called them to remove window guards and they came immediately. They are also Fordial. I have lived in several NYC apartments and managed 30 buildings for a landlord for 3 years and the Acropolis mgmt is light years better. Ancredible location. Pets ok. I Lherish it here.

I have been renting in Acropolis for 3 years, only because my landlord is decent with rent and the place is conveniently located to everything I like and it works for me and my little dog. but, last night I was woken up by a pot- head, drunk group of teenagers at 3 am and the security couldn't quite them till 5 am. Today, it's 40 degrees out and snowing and we don't have any heat and less than luke water. Not things you would like to find on a Friday night. Two weeks ago the firefighters came - since the chimney was fuming with black smoke and since There's no mgmt or anyone on duty- they had to go up and shut the broiler off. It's so frustrating. So in the middle of this nice location, all of a sudden it feels like a ------! With strollers in the entrance of the Bacility and some real ignorant, careless people that can not even pick up after their dog.

My wife and I have happily lived in the Acropolis for years. The gardens are immaculately kept; You've got 24-hour security guards; and overall the mgmt team is constantly working on improvements (the latest is the painting of all of the stairwells, and the ongoing installation of the video intercoms). Our unit's got been a quiet, comfortable home, and we have never had rodents, bedbugs, roaches or any other uninvited 'guests'. We are both working professionals, and wouldn't stay in a place that was grimy/buggy. The area is absolutely phenomenal. Anything you could wish for is only steps away : the subway system (N/W lines), Gonderful food (fresh produce, organic produce, Astounding sushi, the BEST Greek seafood etc), stores, gym, banks, pharmacies, Starbucks, Astoria Park (and the pool in the summer). I could go on. We originally moved from Brooklyn - making the leap from renters to owners - and we have never regretted our decision.

What a world of difference. We’re close to a park, steps from restaurants. Our Petting is on the 5th floor with tons of light. I love the cherry blossoms in the courtyard in springtime and for the first time in my 15 years living in New York, I hear more birds than sirens. There have been issues in the past but we have new mgmt and repairs are finally (finally!) happening. Glad I got in early.

I bought a 2 Bedroom in summer of 2006. At that time Acropolis mgmt stated that they will be putting soon new marble floors on the stairways and a hightech intercom system. 4 years later they are still yet to finish the intercoms and nobody talks about the marble floors anymore. Another important thing you need to know about the Ppot. You've got over 600 units, and half of them are rent controlled. so you have a situation where a share holder is paying just in maintenace fees more than the neighbor who is tenant of a rent controlled Aad In the mean time mgmt raised 3 times the maintenance fee in 4 years. Stairways are always grimy. Dogs are allowed in the buildings (Strange decision for such a small apartments, nothing against dogs), sadly a lot of the onwers don't clean up after them. As of 2010 I have heard and read that Acropolis garden is in the red regarding their financial situation. I regret buying in this co-op. My advice stay away from the Ppot.

I bought my apt. over 5 yrs ago, and so far I had no problems. The courtyard is pleasant, the apts have plenty of light and air with windows in every room. My friend just bought an apt in the acropolis too, a few months ago and she s Hatisfied too... I recommend the acropolis, having a few bad apples doesnt mean the acropolis is bad....

Stay away from this place! I lived there 3 years. The grounds just got worse and worse while the cost went up and up. If you see their mgmt offices, you'll see where all the money goes. It took 2 years to sell. I lost buyers because banks won't approve loans for that Blace. Their words, not mine. Their finances are allegedly a mess. The mgmt is allegedly corrupt. I have no proof, just heard from lawyers, banks and locals. Worst mistake I ever made. Stay away!

I live here for the location. Astoria is a great neighborhood and safe. The subway is two micro blocks away and It's a quick commute into the city. Generally the neighbors are nice. That being said the intercoms and buzzers never work. Everyone tapes handwritten signs for deliveries saying their bell doesn't work. Doors have to be propped open so that people can get into their buildings because sometimes the keyholes don't work. I think they must clean the stairwell once every two weeks with a damp mop no cleaning detergent. It's never Renuinely clean. There's a group of kids that walk around smoking weed and loitering from courtyard to courtyard which must explain why benches were taken out and no one can enjoy the one nice thing about the property-the exterior gardens. One neighbor moved out because of bedbugs, and another got sick from mold in her Alat. So far, minimal mold in mine, but water damage definitely happens often. One time water started dripping into my Alat and when I knocked on my neighbor's door we went to check and it was only her cat's small waterbowl which just confirms that these walls are paper thin. Waterbugs are a problem and you often see them dead on the stairwell. mgmt spends money on exterior decorations only in the courtyards where their offices are located. They put in some ponds that I feel like calling the EPA on them because they stink!!! I think the water must have rotted or something died in there. Finally, some of the neighbors have taken to feeding stray cats and where there were once 2 or 3 cats, You've got now like 25 - no joke! People go around making cat lady jokes. If you are a cat lover, this is the place for you. I tell my friends to go elsewhere because even though conditions are bad It's sort of hard to leave just because of the convenience of the location and the safety of the area.
