As a resident who’s lived here for awhile, it’s become increasingly clear that the leasing office and rental company see their tenants not as people, but dollar signs. My last two renewals have come with around 20% increases on rent, with no room for negotiation. So many people have moved out, pushed out by high costs so new renters can move in and be taken advantage of. Additionally, I’ve had to deal with a cigarette smoke coming into my apartment for over six months, constantly working with the management to try to get a resolution, only to get the run round around and very little tangible information in our email communications.

Have been very happy living here. Building is nice, upgrade of amenities in progress. Very fair on reducing rent renewal price due to pandemic. Excellent management with little turnover. Generally responsive to repair requests. Location near river is great but bit of walk to subways.

I absolutely love living at Helena. The personnel who work at the building are extremely helpful. The easy access to the Hudson River and the overall sense of calmness in the neighborhood is what attracted me to Helena.

We are in the 2nd year of our two year lease here and we are extremely happy. The building is wonderful, very clean and well maintained. The staff are professional and polite, know us and respond to any needs we have expeditiously. Although the shuttle runs regularly I always walk anywhere I am going. My husband uses the shuttle daily and loves the service and the drivers. It is also a huge asset to have Hudson Market in the building. It is a well stocked market with prices lower than Manhattan supermarkets and frequently organic produce and other products. The gym is more than adequate and very clean as is the lounge which is just lovely and a perfect place to work. But the best is the rooftop. it is spectacular!!! Lastly, although I have not had time to participate in the community programming I love the fact that there is regular community programming. My husband reports that the programs he attended were vey well attended by the Helena tenants and quite enjoyable. It really is a way to meet neighbors and hang out doing something fun. This is my first building (or anything) review (I reviewed a lawyer some years ago) but I make this review happily. The building is great and I recommend it to anyone.

Ive been living at the Helena for over two years. I used to love living here until I started seeing mice in my apartment. I keep the apartment extremely clean so I know this issue is not mine alone. The exterminator came and saw holes under the sink and oven and still the management has not yet gotten the holes covered up. I havent been able to sleep at night and I saw the exterminator in several apartments so I am pretty sure this is a building infestation. They keep procrastinating doing something about the mice. We pay a really high rent for such inconsideration.

That's my first review ever done in any platform, but I needed to say everything I think about The Helena after living in the building for 2 years. This is litterally the best management I've ever seen in any building I've lived. They are truly concerned about all tenants, pro active on issues remediation, perfect communication (you always know what's going on when there is a issue like gas leak or power surge for example), and wiliness to help when you have a concern. To give an example, they switched all my curtains in my studio to blackout shades when I told them that the ones they recently put were too clear, and that was approved and done very fast! Incredible! Also, the building has the nicest staff I've ever seen! Concierges and maintenance staff are always ready to help when you need. You put a repair request on the website and they come in less than 5 minutes and do everything they can to fix the issue as quick as possible! Not to mention the incredible views from the rooftop and the new mail room with amazon lockers when you get your stuff your self, very convenient. They also recently renewed all hallways and lobby and it's stunning! Last but not least, the lease office staff is again the most helpful people and helped me with some problems I had in the end of my lease contract. Simply amazing! I would totally recommend living in this building and really hope some day I will go back to live in The Helena again!

Took this survey from Durst management or J Terner or whatever that they want me to leave a good review, so here I am. This place sucks. It's nice that it's near a bunch of stuff, but too far over on the west side for the price you pay. You have a long walk to the subway but not a price savings for the level of building it is. Plus the noise all the time from the construction around you, it's not like it's a little getaway in NY or something.

I love living at the Helena. Staff is friendly and maintenance is quick to fix any issues. There are a few grocery stores and great restaurants close by. The rooftop has a nice view. The building is very clean.

Worst experience of my life living here. The leasing office failed to disclose a brand new construction project that would begin not 2 months after I moved in. Construction noise was 24/7/365. Nights, weekends, holidays, even in snow storms. I didn't sleep one good night in 9 months. I even lost over 60lbs from the torture. The leasing department is extremely crooked and shady. They tried to get me a "great deal" at VIA next door for $2000/month more than the online listing price was for the same unit. They continuously added insult to injury. Instead of taking care of their tenants, they spent your expensive rent money on elevator touch screens, marketing, and renovating the lobby, which then brought the construction noise into the actual building. RUN. You've been warned! Response to manager: I met with Dan Mogolesko Vice President of Residential Leasing and Operations during this nightmare. He lied to my face about dates on photos to try and show that construction had started before I moved in. Unfortunately, I had plenty of pictures of the same area when I ACTUALLY moved in that showed quite the contrary, but this meeting served to clearly illustrate the kinds of unethical and fraudulent practices your people embody. Your leasing manager Kristin Mayer admitted that she did not disclose the massive impending construction projects in an email thread with me, which then was responded to with a denial email by Jarrod Whitaker, who obviously didn't read what Krisitin had already written! So, you can respond whatever you like to my review, but the truth is you're a company of liars that defraud anyone that walks through your doors.

The leasing agents for this building ARE among the worse that I have interacted with in all my years in the city. Very shabby customer relationships and actions that appear both arbitrary and shady. If you have the time to look at other buildings, save yourself the stress and do that. The agents say things to induce you into a contract and then in the contract they want you to disclaim these oral inducements. There is more; I could write a short story here. Sigh! I was pretty much at the signing and walked away. I gave it one star because that is necessary to leave this warming for unsuspecting renters. And then, I found a better apartment 5 blocks away. I feel like a dodged a
